everytimewe come to kitchener we always come to this restaurant as they are the most consistent for service, presentation, quality and reasonable prices!!!
today we had breakfast /brunch and it was all great. best of all they have great coffee.
a must if u r in the area!!

david and family. the bauer kitchen was our choice for our daughter's graduation dinner. all 14 members of our family and friends had a greattimeand everyone rated the food and service 5 stars. we have hosted several events at the bauer and have always had a wonderful time. staff are very trendy and in touch with with the customers! cool and relaxed. thank you for making this event a memorable experience! you can never go wrong with a csh group restaurant. thank you tim and crew!

horrible service.. this review is a little late, this experience happened back in apri.. however, thought it was important to note.
i went in with a friend for brunch on a saturday around 11:30am. the restaurant wasn't very busy and we were seated right away. no waitress showed up at our table for 20 minutes, despite other tables being sat around us after we sat and getting glasses of water and receiving acknowledgment from the server. we had to stop a waitress to inquire if we could get a waitress. instead of taking our order, or grabbing a drink order, she ran off saying she would find our waitress. 5 minutes later she showed up. took only our drink order and ran away beforf we could say we could give our entire order. took another 10 minutes to get drink of tea, coffee and waters and to take our orders. food arrived quickly, however i asked for an additional item which never showed up. our waitress never bothered to ask how we were doing halfway through our meal so i couldn't even bring it to her attention. unacceptable service from a restaurant that is supposed to be "high end". i'm a waitress myself, and so i know what good service is, and bauer was exceptionally bad.
would have asked to speak to a manager, however, i didnt havetimeas i was on my way to work, so i sent them an email letting them know of the terrible service we received. got a reply from the manager, julie, offering me a gift card to make up for the lack of service and to provide my address. replied to her with my contact information and i have yet to receive any acknowledgment of my email or the gift card that was promised to me. if you're going to offer a solution to a serious lack of service i received, you should honestly follow through. never been so disappointed in the service in a restaurant before and i am a foodie who eats out 2-3 times a week. haven't ben back since and will never set foot in the bauer kitchen.

it's all great!. i've been here twice this summer (on the beautiful patio)
the food and service are both wonderful.
the firsttimei had the butcher burger, the secondtimei had the tomato and basil gnocchi both are great!
will certainly return!

went as part of a bachelorette party - excellent service, especially for a large group. food was great - a little more expensive than what i would typically spend on a meal out, but a nice splurge for a special occasion. beautifully decorated, i will definitely be back nexttimei'm in waterloo!

culture. i was at the bauer for the firsttimelast week. i found the menu limited and similar to a lot of the ones related to this restaurant like wildcraft etc

good ambience; lacklustre food. i've eaten at the bauer kitchen a few times for work functions and have been disappointed every time. dishes that sound great on the menu come out bland and unimaginative on the plate. the lasttimei was there i had a pork & gnocchi dish and it was almost flavourless. how you make pork that bland i'm not sure. the place has a nice warm atmosphere but that's where it ends. i'd never go there if i was picking up the cheque.

tsk tsk. well, that was disappointing! tbk is/was arguably the best restaurant in town but... what happened? my husband and i have been going here since the first week they opened (we are members of their bite club). we even had our wedding reception in the party room (and it was lovely, really). i think there has been a slow decline; the menu is becoming so-so and unfortunately our very favourite dish is now... kinda gross! we both ordered the short rib gnocchi and were disappointed in the change; what was that horrible horseradish and what did they do with the fresh stuff they used to put on it? and what happened to the grated lemon? was that parsley on it instead? it wasn't very good - i didn't even finish it this time! our waitress was impatient and seemed to be rushing us out despite a very empty restaurant. and finally, our biggest disappointment - the dessert. they used to have the most amazing selection and it now falls flat. we ordered the stacked chocolate cake and it tasted like it came from a box. i cannot believe this is the same place i used to go to - just to get the dessert. can't say that i will be returning to tbk for dinner anytimesoon!

what happened?. my first few experiences of the bauer kitchen was fabulous so i decided to throw my best friends birthday party there and reserved the large party room. our waitress (wish i would have gotten her name) had a horrible attitude and 0 customer service skills. after she brought us our food she never once came back to make sure everyones meals were o.k, half of my dinner guests steaks werent cooked to their liking and we never saw a waiter/waitress for at least 15 minutes after our food arrived. the waitress then took it upon herself to bring out the birthday cake sparklers and all without checking with me (the hostess) first if we were ready for it. needless to say the brother, aunt, and father missed out on the birthday girl blowing out her candles and the big ta-da! the waitress did not offer anyone coffe or tea to eat with their dessert either which is horrible dining etiquette! even a waitress at swiss chalet knows to offer you a coffe to have with your dessert!. i know this sounds nit pitcky but when everyone is paying approximately paying $40-$60/head for dinner, tipping the waitress individually with 15-20% tip and we are required to hit a $500 minimum in the party room we had better be given some descent service at least and our steaks should be cooked perfectly!

hottest spot in town. cool vibe, tasty cocktails, quality food. i try something new everytime and when i fall in love with something by thetimei come back its gone! at our rescent dinner there we finished our meal with the dessert trio because it was such a steal (7.95). unfortunately they made a mistake when printing the menu but the waitress was nice enough to make the adjustment for us on our bill.

yum.. two visits in, the bauer kitchen has made itself a contender for celebrating special occasions, entertaining family/friends who are visiting, or snagging a glass of wine and people-watching. the servers and hosts are knowledgeable, the atmosphere classy but not pretentious, and the food. mmm, the food.

there's a mushroom tart appetizer that i'm dreaming about from my first visit, but the fact that my table thistimearound considered a coup d'etat to steal the muscovy duck from its original recipient says something, too. i'd heard great things about the brie-stuffed chicken, and it deserves them (creamy brie, well-seasoned chicken, savoury potatoes and freshly grilled veggies? simple ingredients, but perfectly executed.) the short rib gnocchi rounded out our entrees, and smelled amazing - but was, sadly, fiercely guarded by my date.

suggesting a wine pairing in the sidebar for each menu item is a nifty touch, and helped us to navigate the wine list.

as a note - the calamari isn't served in the familiar style (deep-fried rings of delicious golden rubber) and is rather more pan-fried and squid-shaped than expected. but - it was delicious. the cherry tomatoes and capers on the side were a great addition.
