i went with friends and was trying to be budget conscious, which wasn't easy. not saying the food wouldn't be worth the higher prices, but it was harder to enjoy knowing i was looking at the bottom half of the price menu. ambience andservicewas good. i'd recommend this place to people who enjoy a classier pub environment and extra pocket money. went with the bauer burger, was good, though the sweet potato fries stole the show.

david and family. the bauer kitchen was our choice for our daughter's graduation dinner. all 14 members of our family and friends had a great time and everyone rated the food andservice5 stars. we have hosted several events at the bauer and have always had a wonderful time. staff are very trendy and in touch with with the customers! cool and relaxed. thank you for making this event a memorable experience! you can never go wrong with a csh group restaurant. thank you tim and crew!

horrible service.. this review is a little late, this experience happened back in apri.. however, thought it was important to note.
i went in with a friend for brunch on a saturday around 11:30am. the restaurant wasn't very busy and we were seated right away. no waitress showed up at our table for 20 minutes, despite other tables being sat around us after we sat and getting glasses of water and receiving acknowledgment from the server. we had to stop a waitress to inquire if we could get a waitress. instead of taking our order, or grabbing a drink order, she ran off saying she would find our waitress. 5 minutes later she showed up. took only our drink order and ran away beforf we could say we could give our entire order. took another 10 minutes to get drink of tea, coffee and waters and to take our orders. food arrived quickly, however i asked for an additional item which never showed up. our waitress never bothered to ask how we were doing halfway through our meal so i couldn't even bring it to her attention. unacceptableservicefrom a restaurant that is supposed to be "high end". i'm a waitress myself, and so i know what goodserviceis, and bauer was exceptionally bad.
would have asked to speak to a manager, however, i didnt have time as i was on my way to work, so i sent them an email letting them know of the terribleservicewe received. got a reply from the manager, julie, offering me a gift card to make up for the lack ofserviceand to provide my address. replied to her with my contact information and i have yet to receive any acknowledgment of my email or the gift card that was promised to me. if you're going to offer a solution to a serious lack ofservicei received, you should honestly follow through. never been so disappointed in theservicein a restaurant before and i am a foodie who eats out 2-3 times a week. haven't ben back since and will never set foot in the bauer kitchen.

first visit. went today. seated at 12:55 but no waitress came to take our order until 1:20. food was slow arriving and when it did nobody ever came by to see if everything was fine.everything about ourservicewas slow. food was good.will i return? probably not based on service.

it's all great!. i've been here twice this summer (on the beautiful patio)
the food andserviceare both wonderful.
the first time i had the butcher burger, the second time i had the tomato and basil gnocchi both are great!
will certainly return!

the vibrant food presentation was very appetizing. i enjoyed each component of the dish, puree, confit, vegetables, potatoes….all with the exception of the ingredient that should have taken center stage --- the pickerel. the pickerel was overcooked. each bite had to be paired with another component in the dish to reduce its dryness. the server’s response to the dehydrated fish was “this is the way it should be...pickerel is usually a tad bit dry.” the pickerel was more than “a tad bit drier”. i had a fair share of succulent pickerel in my life. delicious moist pickerel is actually achievable. as a customerservicepersonnel, it is always better to be open for feedback than to take offense.

lovely restaurant for brunch. went back for their smoked salmon benedict twice and i am always pleased. the biscuits pair very well with the eggs and salmon except the home fries, overly roast. other than that,serviceis good and the restaurant ambient is lovely.

did i mention they have lovely oreo biscotti at the bauer cafe? very delicious and excellent pair with a cup of joe.

great place to have a peaceful meal, great food is just a bonus.. went there on a monday by myself around 6:30pm. the place was one third full. the dinning room was tastefully decor with the original old factory left over parts. the building was an old factory before converting to an office building, shopping area. the tables and chairs are very comfortable. how comfortable, clean and interesting the place is almost as important as the food to me.servicewas great too.

had their daily soup, it was steaming hot when it was put in front of me. a very nice touch. the bread were warm. duck confit next, veggie and potato were just right. the duck was excellent. as good as the first two courses, the dessert was the one i remember the most.

it was the chocolate nemesis. chocolate after chocolate and more chocolate. it comes with a small cup of spicy chocolate sauce. it was just spicy enough to tickle the throat but not enough to burn. be aware i am a person who can eat half a dozen of suicide chicken wings and not break a sweat. use that as a guideline.

all three courses came out fast enough but not too fast. i have managed to read a few pages of my book in between courses and enjoyed myself within the hour and a little bit while i was there. a place i will certainly go back.

after three months of dinner every once a week at tbk, i like it even more.

impressed!. i dont' know what all the negative reviews are about!!
my husband and i (early 30s) were there saturday night and we thoroughly enjoyed everything!
we started with the mussels & a fantastic bottle of wine. my husband had the bacon wrapped tenderloin & i had the daily feature which was lamb shank w/ mashed potatoes. the vegetables were crisp (which is exactly how i like them) and the lamb was very flavorful. i had a piece of my husbands steak & while it was a little undercooked to how he likes it, it was still very tasty. we shared the dessert plate (3 dessert samples) and each was very good. theservicewas phenomenal, our waiter was very attentive, but not bothersome. the ambience was great as well, although a little on the loud side for my taste. and of course i have to mention the price. i thought it was extremely reasonable. our bill was $240 before tip (which includes everything i mentioned above, plus a pint of mill st & a hammerhead triple espresso), and our wine was close to half of that.
as an added touch, charcoal group offers aserviceto order flowers for your table when you make your reservations online. i was pleasantly surprised to find a vase of flowers waiting for me when we arrived :)

anniversary dinner. great food andserviceas always. i love that menu changes frequently, sunday brunch is still my favourite. great atmosphere all around. i will continue to visit this fine establishment!

we heard from folks the pizza is great. went tonight.serviceexcellent. ordered two pizzas and the crust on both was so tough you could not cut it with a knife even if you went back and forth eight times. server was gracious and apologetic...took them back and cleared the bill disappointing. hopefully better luck next time.

duck wings!. this is one of my favourite restaurant in kw.

i have been there multiple times and i think they deserve a good rating.

food:
their short rib gnocchi is a must and their coffee is so good!!! :d bone marrow is amazing but if you're on a budget, i recommend the duck wings, you get more and you feel fuller!

service:
not to mention theirserviceis impeccable!

i can guarantee you all that you will not regret this.

on your way out, don't forget to take their sweet treats (minty chocolate).

what happened?. my first few experiences of the bauer kitchen was fabulous so i decided to throw my best friends birthday party there and reserved the large party room. our waitress (wish i would have gotten her name) had a horrible attitude and 0 customerserviceskills. after she brought us our food she never once came back to make sure everyones meals were o.k, half of my dinner guests steaks werent cooked to their liking and we never saw a waiter/waitress for at least 15 minutes after our food arrived. the waitress then took it upon herself to bring out the birthday cake sparklers and all without checking with me (the hostess) first if we were ready for it. needless to say the brother, aunt, and father missed out on the birthday girl blowing out her candles and the big ta-da! the waitress did not offer anyone coffe or tea to eat with their dessert either which is horrible dining etiquette! even a waitress at swiss chalet knows to offer you a coffe to have with your dessert!. i know this sounds nit pitcky but when everyone is paying approximately paying $40-$60/head for dinner, tipping the waitress individually with 15-20% tip and we are required to hit a $500 minimum in the party room we had better be given some descentserviceat least and our steaks should be cooked perfectly!

hottest spot in town. cool vibe, tasty cocktails, quality food. i try something new everytime and when i fall in love with something by the time i come back its gone! at our rescent dinner there we finished our meal with the dessert trio because it was such a steal (7.95). unfortunately they made a mistake when printing the menu but the waitress was nice enough to make the adjustment for us on our bill.

not perfect but pretty darn good. theservicewas average and seemed a bit rushed despite the fact that the restaurant wasn't busy. the waitress did everything she was supposed to, though.

the atmosphere was lovely, i went on a date and it was a good setting for it.

we split the chipotle pork belly pizza and a roast chicken dish.

the pork belly pizza was delicious in flavor (8/10) but the bottom was a bit soggy... eek.

the chicken was very basic, nothing inventive, but it was done well. a classic, plain dish.

i like that you can order 3 oz glasses of wine here - sometimes all i want is a taste so the amount was perfect for me!

pretty face, high prices, mediocre fare. the bauer kitchen looks pretty but don't be fooled by the gorgeous interior - it may resemble an up-scale establishment but this is merely a thin veneer disguising an otherwise sub-par establishment.

the restaurant strives to achieve a semblance of ambiance and it does manage to do just that. the decoration is gorgeous with incredible brick and woodwork. the bar is stocked with a perfect mix of liquors, including some decent upper shelf selections and is supported by a decent menu of fashionable cocktails and old favourites.

the staff, however, is another story. the hostess barely acknowledged us, speaking very little and wearing a frown that could stop a clock. our server was brusque, rather snippy and carried on as though we were bothering him; we certainly were not made to feel welcome. unfortunately, even though the restaurant's appearance is top notch, the overall atmosphere suffers considerably at the hands of its staff.

we had a party of six visit for a work lunch and none of us were satisfied with our food, especially at the prices this diner is charging.

the server was brutally honest and we should've clued in that something was wrong when we enquired about the special and stated that it wasn't that good - that "none of the meat dishes are flavourful". by the end, some picked through the remains of the plain, tasteless fare whilst others expressed disbelief that their food had been so bland.

being new to the restaurant, i erred on the side of caution ordered the "bauer butcher burger, reckoning that it would be rather difficult to mess up a simple burger. alas, i was wrong. the server's warning proved true - the burger was poorly done - unseasoned beef with tasteless toppings served on a slightly stale bun and a side of cold french fries.

to be quite frank, if the meal hadn't been expensed by our vp and i had been there alone, i would've sent the meal back; being in the company of co-workers and an executive, however, i chose not to make a scene so as not to diminish the moment as we were presenting an award.

i will not return because to be frank, if i am to pay prices such as this restaurant charges, i will go to another restaurant where i know i am going to get quality food andservicefor my money.

i do not recommend the bauer kitchen and give it a thumbs down - there are other up-scale restaurants in the area that do a much better job at, well, just about everything.
