what are they thinking?. ted & wally's is one of those places that has gotten a great reputation by really having little competition in it's niche: locally-made ice cream. i must admit that i'm a little biased going into this writing as the owner's pulled out of a second location (pulling their trademark, too) from the ice cream store in dundee which formerly carried the ted & wally's name because it wasn't as profitable as they would like. these aren't the kind of local heroes anyone should admire, yet here we are. it's really not hard to make a decent cup of ice cream and ted & wally's *can* make ice cream, but they do it in a retro building in the oldmarketand even have dedicated parking which is cool and refreshing, respectively. but, i'm afraid, as happens far too often, the place is just another downtown, hipster-operated dump which feels shamefully sidelined by an owner who probably has other profitable endeavors to attend to. i'm glad ted & wally's exists. we need local restaurateurs, but with the clean, franchisable maggie moo's across the street, ted & wally's should probably step up their hiring and clean their restrooms. being in the oldmarketis no longer an excuse for being rundown and dirty. note: this review was reposted because of wierd levels of kudos. additionally, despite what the well-written pr response says, the general consensus (likely not by accident) is not the story given in reply.
