what are they thinking?. ted & wally's is one of those places that has gotten agreatreputation by really having little competition in it's niche: locally-made ice cream. i must admit that i'm a little biased going into this writing as the owner's pulled out of a second location (pulling their trademark, too) from the ice cream store in dundee which formerly carried the ted & wally's name because it wasn't as profitable as they would like. these aren't the kind of local heroes anyone should admire, yet here we are. it's really not hard to make a decent cup of ice cream and ted & wally's *can* make ice cream, but they do it in a retro building in the old market and even have dedicated parking which is cool and refreshing, respectively. but, i'm afraid, as happens far too often, the place is just another downtown, hipster-operated dump which feels shamefully sidelined by an owner who probably has other profitable endeavors to attend to. i'm glad ted & wally's exists. we need local restaurateurs, but with the clean, franchisable maggie moo's across the street, ted & wally's should probably step up their hiring and clean their restrooms. being in the old market is no longer an excuse for being rundown and dirty. note: this review was reposted because of wierd levels of kudos. additionally, despite what the well-written pr response says, the general consensus (likely not by accident) is not the story given in reply.
