ted & wally's ice cream shop

good not great. for us, ted and wally's has been hit and miss. we have visited several times and sometimes have been impressed and sometimes nonplused.

on a recent visit i enjoyed a very good avocado ice cream and while my fiancé and parents enjoy more traditional options such as lemon custard (excellent) and butter pecan (pretty good). on another visit, theflavorselection was un-intriguing and non-inventive.

the staff has generally been helpful, though on our recent visit one staff member couldn't figure out how to give proper change to my father and tried to argue with him, before eventually admitting she made a mistake.

overall, its probably omaha's best local ice cream, but i have enjoyed much better other places.

best ice cream, hands down! the guinness ice cream has always been my favorite! definitely could use more locations! best part is... you can taste test anyflavorbefore you commit!🍦

different homemade flavors everyday! yum! red velvet cake and blueberry are my two favorite flavors... but sometimes it is disappointing when your faveflavorwasn't made that day, more reason to step out your comfy zone

we’ve been in omaha since november and i can’t believe i haven’t made it to ted & wally’s before now. located in old market, ted & wally’s premium homemade ice cream offers delicious ice cream and most importantly, at least one of the daily varieties is vegan. what dairy allergy? enjoying vegan vanilla ice cream at ted & wally’s ice cream. coming from a mom of a boy who has a dairy allergy, this is exciting news. we can now go as a family into an ice cream parlor and order ice cream for both of our boys. woo-hoo! so, after a trip downtown this past weekend, the boys and i headed over for what i told them was going to be a surprise. it did not disappoint. from the eclectic artwork and bright interior to the helpful staff and nice combination of unusual and traditional ice cream flavors, ted & wally’s was a wonderful treat. the veganflavorof the day was vanilla. my youngest got chocolate and i ordered the thai tea ice cream. del

really?. i cannot understand why anyone would prefer maggie moo's over ted & wally's. granted, the staff is young & surly (hey, anyone else remember when they were 19 years old), but the quality andflavorchoices for the ice cream are fantastic! if you really need to avoid the hipster aspect of t&w's, just order at the counter and walk out. my wife and i get a pint or two to go from ted & wally's every week; i just wish i could make that pint last longer than the night i buy it!


they're local, they're fresh, they're inventive, they're great. you will not find a better ice cream experience in omaha.

great ice cream-great business!. i'm not a huge fan of ice cream, but i was turned onto ted & wally's first because of the quality of the business. i had heard of the shop from people i work with and have had the great pleasure of occasionally speaking with the owners (one of them is a frequent supporter of my shop). i love supporting local businesses that are hard working and have an honest business ethic so i decided to try them out. now, i'm hooked! i go as often as i can, have told people in other states about them, drag my friends (although its not hard to twist their arms to go!) and highly recommend them. the environment is relaxing and family oriented. it attracts every crowd possible from the elderly to highschoolers looking for a harmless pasttime to families with children. their popularity shows when you see a line out the door on a late monday night while maggiemoos sits empty across the street, and trust me the wait is well worth it! i said i wasn't a huge ice cream fan, but the hometown welcoming feel of the shop isn't the only reason i patronize them...the ice cream is fantastic!!! all homemade, anyflavoryou could ever imagine and always fresh! you can even custom order something if you don't see it and if they have never seen it-they will at least give it a shot! their ice cream tastes just as fresh and real as its ingredients and i have never been disappointed or even hesitant to try a new flavor. coldstone? maggiemoos? i'll wait in line during a blizzard for a single scoop from ted & wallys before thinking about the other shops!!

i'm addicted!. i remember, growing up, my dad would bring out the old hand-cranked ice cream maker and make us kids take turns turning the handle until the ice cream was done. it was hard work and seemed like it took forever, but it was so worth it! nothing store bought ever measured up. it never quite had that same flavor. i don't know what makes thatflavori'm talking about, but it makes the ice cream really good! ted & wally's has thatflavorin their ice cream and it has to be because they make it the old-fashioned way, using the rock salt and real cream. they even have the machines out front where you can see them. luckily for their employees, they are not the hand cranked kind. i go there whenever i can, cuz i love me some ice cream! i'm always amazed by the array of creative flavors, it's hard to decide. there is a line out the door sometimes, but the anticipation is all part of the fun, giving you time to make up your mind. it's hard for me to get down there as often as i would like, but i've noticed that pints are being made available at different stores around town, too. you don't get the unique atmosphere that way, but it's still the same great ice cream. way to go!

really good ice cream!. the ice cream is really good. lots of uniqueflavorchoices. the place has a fun atmosphere. little pricey and staff wasn't terribly friendly.

definitely the best ice cream in omaha!. love this place. love the ever-changing board of different freshly-madeflavorchoices. am always particularly happy when amaretto-anything is available as a flavor, but many are really, really good, and many are flavors i haven't seen anywhere else.

their strawberry and ice cream sodas are also super delicious, as well as their shakes/malts.

love the location in the converted old garage as well, and the fact that they're open late!

so much better than coldstone/maggiemoo/insert chain-with-mass-produced-ice-cream-and-no-personality of your choice.

excellent place to stop in with the kids, or your date, while walking around the old market!

an old market original!. ted and wally's is great. they have interesting ice cream flavors (grand marnier or guinness, anyone?) and it's all homemade right there in the shop. maggie moo's opened up across the street to capitalize off people who couldn't be bothered to wait in line to get ted & wally's. (go after 7 pm on a summer night and there will be a line, but it's worth the wait!)

any kind of cake batterflavori've ever had here has been amazing, and if you're lucky, you'll stop in on a night when they have guinness flavored ice cream, which is my absolute favorite.

the atmosphere is neat as well--the store is decorated with posters of local bands and concerts; sometimes they even have shows in the ice cream shop! if you're in omaha and have never been, it's worth a try.
