overpriced, uncreative. it's a chain from baton rouge. it tries its best to be a cheaper, casual version of galatoire's. it fails for the most part. i've had the shrimp and grits and the roast beef poor boy. both tasted okay, but the prices are more than they should be. i'll leave this place to the tulane students who think they're taking their parents to a nicerestaurantwhen they go to superior.

forgot to mention the food my sister in law got lobster and said it was like shoe leather very average food! i am so embarrassed to have insisted we go to thisrestaurantfor law school graduation when everyone we invited have so many restaurants they love...cannot believe we wasted a night like this in new orleans at this restaurant. food average, at best.

nice ambiance, great waiter, ok food.

the food took a long while to be served given therestaurantwas empty.

pricey for "ok" food. there are too many other choices if you want to spend good money on ok food.

go somewhere else.

thisrestaurantwas overpriced, outdated, like warm water with no ice, hard bread, and their waiter sucked ass! this was probably the worstrestauranti've been to in new orleans. bought a tuna steak it was disgusting. the blackened catfish napoleon was delicious. the drink i ordered something with gin and champagne actually tasted like a clean long island. the waiter told us that he was busy and when he said he hoped we come back i said i never would. he just walked off. they only give you one small butter pat for the entire table. i was not impressed their white bean cassoulet which was very runny and not at all tasty. i would not ever tell people to eat here. ever under any circumstances.

happy hour. great happy hour! oysters were large, cold, and salty. whoever was shucking oysters the day i was there needs to learn to properly detach the oyster from the bottom shell. house made potato chips were a fantastic unexpected treat.

the atmosphere is great. therestaurantlooks great and was well designed.

superior.....not. my first time here was pretty good. an out of town friend and i had the half sandwich and soup lunch and it was pretty good, but we did more catching up than eating. fast forward 6 weeks, went here for an early dinner, a not so good sign should have been when we went to 2 other restaurants in the area and they were packed so we ended up here and the place was pretty empty, but the lunch i had was decent so we took a chance. the waiter brings bread and luke warm tap water in a glass bottle (i knew it was tap because i asked! my party and i all tried different items and they all were a mess! i will say the spinach dip and the superior oyster trio were ok and the dessert was fine but the food was just lacking. therestaurantitself is beautiful, they did a great job renovating the old copeland's, but the menu is sub par at best.

mixed reviews. my friend and i enjoyed the food and our server sean was really good but if you go in the evenings be prepared because it is the loudestrestauranti've ever been in. we cut our stay short because you couldn't carry a conversation two feet from each other and actually went outside one time to get away from the noise, take a deep breath and go back in.

pros- food was good and reasonably priced and sean our server was good.

cons- if you want the experience of eating in a junior high cafeteria with all the cackling and and mind numbing noise then this is your place.

no seafood in the gumbo...... i ordered the seafood gumbo and salad combo for lunch. before ordering, i called ahead to make sure that the gumbo only had seafood- no sausage or other meats. i was assured by the lady who answered the phone that their gumbo was strictly a seafood only gumbo- and she even verified this with one of her co-workers.

when i got the order at my office (this was a takeout order) my seafood gumbo had no seafood- only sausage. i called to complain and was told by a gentleman who i assume was a manager that their gumbo no longer has seafood (strange, because as i pointed out to him, therestaurantis named superior seafood) and they changed it very recently. i asked him why whoever answered the phone earlier told me the exact opposite, and he said most of their staff didn't even know the menu had changed. he apologized that no one had told their staff, and only offered that he hoped i would come back and try something else on their menu.

fat chance.

one of the best resturant experiences i've had in some time. called for a reservation 3 hours beforehand and was handled with the utmost professionalism. we were seated in the open air with a table on napoleon ave. the french bread was fresh and the wine by the glass selection was terrific and moderately priced. i ordered the pasta vieux carre - cappillini pasta tossed with a creamy smoky tomato base served with shrimp, crawfish and andouille. my guest ordered the scallops, wood grilled and were as big as hockey pucks. the scallops were prepared perfectly. we then ordered the bread pudding for desert and is simply the best i've ever had. thisrestaurantcomes highly recommended and i look forward to returning soon.

good place, great service. ate here with the family on our first night in town for the sec tournament. parking can be a little tricky but they have a complimentary valet to handle that for you.

we started with a dozen gulf oysters on the half shell. they were fantasic, beautiful sea creatures tasting of the ocean. excellent french bread and butter is brought compliementary.

we each received a side salad with our meals consisting of lettuce, tomato, feta, olives and a light dressing. very good.

i had the mussels & frites in the traditional white sauce. the sauce was well balanced and had all the wonderful herbs in the broth. it felt like the mussels had probably been sitting in the window a little bit but were delicious none the less. the frites, on the other hand, were hugely disappointing. they tasted like, therefore i assume they were, frozen fries. i expected a little more from an $18 entree.

other dishes ordered by our party:

scallops: terrific scallops cooked perfectly with fingerling potatoes and green beans. crawfish etouffe that was reported to be very good. my brother ordered the drum and it was very mushy. the corn and potatoes served with it were excellent. the chicken and pasta were also reported to be good.

service was outstanding. our waitress was fun, attentive and friendly with tips for out of towners. the rest of the staff was prompt with water, plate clearing and anything else. i didn't see a single table that didn't receive a visit from the manager to ensure everything was well.

overall, the place is a goodrestaurantthat could easily be propelled to greatness by fixing the details with the food. cut some fries, improve a few quality things here and there and off you go.

those oysters were on point though...

i love eating at this place. ive had the ribeye probably about three times and loved it. i also had a few other dishes during the soft opening that were great particularly that cornbrdad crawfish contraption which was out of this world. the prices are on par with copelands. my steak was about 30 bucks and copelands is 28. but superiors quality is way better and a lot cheaper than a ruth chris steak (and just as tender and tasty as a ruth chris steak). i also love the atmosphere on st. charles and they offer free valet ( except maybe during mardi gras). i would recommend to my friends and i would definitely go back. good addition to the scene. also p.s. side dishes are a le carte and thats the only thing i find wrong with thisrestaurantand why most people run up the bill. n e ways sorry for typos im typin on cell phone.

great addition to that spot. this major hub of the city -- on st. charles at the corner of one of the largest crossstreets (napoleon). it is also the corner of a majority of the mardi gras parades. it was so tragic to walk past there every day and see it vacant (for over six years since the storm).

it is so exciting to have something commercial, anything there. when i learned a few years ago that it was being developed by arestaurantchain, my enthusiasm was a little muted. it was a very small chain, and owned in baton rogue (better than atlanta or houston), but still....

but it turned out better than i expected, imho.

first, the design is really solid. they used old st joes brick to border the outside wall. they built out plenty of big windows with views of st chas. and the streetcar. the floors are all old school mosaic tile, the walls old brick. the lamps outside are real gaslights. there is a balcony, with lots of plants. they blocked the view of the city's ugly new bus stop with lots of small trees and greens. etc. great job!

a friend brought me some mussels from opening night and they were outstanding. my wife and i went for lunch -- the fried oysters in bacon with remoulade were very creative and pretty tasty, though we both thought the batter was maybe a little too thick and not enough remoulade either for our tastes. we liked the crawfish cornbread appetizer too (huge for $10). and they have a kids menu we'll try next time, when we bring the kids.

a good start. we visited this newrestaurant4 days after it opened, and for its youth it was pretty dang good. the crawfish cornbread is perfect, absolutely delicious with a rich roux and crawfish poured over a hearty slice of cornbread. the house made chips were also great to munch on while we waited for our meal. the crawfish and crab bisque was also quite good. the side salads that come with each meal could definitely be improved upon, as the dressing had no flavor whatsoever. as for the entrees, they were overall pretty good with a few mistakes. the buffalo trace shrimp tasted good, but were slightly overcooked and chewy. the andouille shrimp brochettes were quite tasty. my mom ordered the drum, and ended up cleaning her plate, which never happens as she is a picky eater. service was good, and well timed for being such a new restaurant. the atmosphere of therestaurantwas great, feeling very old new orleans with tile and antiqued mirrors. it was a little loud, but i guess that's a good sign of a busy restaurant.
