an enjoyable experience. we recently had company who ate a couple of times at superior seafood and raved about the place. so with their recommendation we decided it was time to try the place for ourselves. we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of both the food and service. normally we stay away from these sort of "big box" restaurants, especially living a city with so many fine smaller options. weorderedoff of the main menu rather than the limited brunch menu. overall, the food was well prepared, attractively plated and very reasonable priced. several serves kept up well hydrated on what was a record breaking temperature day. overall, it was an enjoyable experience. the crabmeat stuffed mushrooms were fantastic!

four visits. i have visited here four times
-first time i had crawfish&crab bisque (very good) and 1/2 shrimp poorboy (bread too hard and not much taste to shrimp)
-second time i had trout amandine (i really enjoyed this but the entree has now been changed to what ever fish they have/drum/mahi mahi)
-third visit iorderedgrill shrmp sesation/i came with blacked shrimp which were much too salty and not what i order/i complained and the shrimp were removed and the same salad sent back with grilled shrimp on it/i did not like this salad had too much feta cheese
-fourth visit i order the superior cheese burger /medium well/it was burned/4 people in the party order this /one was suppose to be medium/they were all burned and inedible.
i will not returned here again the food is very pricey for the value

we went for a birthday dinner and had some good and bad parts. iorderedthe shrimp and grits, which were very well done. our birthday girlorderedthe mussels and frites, again done well. our third order was the fresh catch, pompadour grilled. the fillet still had the mud line in, which made it very fishy tasting. we told the waiter about it and he informed the manager. the manager came over and apologized, but no adjustment to the bill. somewhat disappointing.

this restaurant was overpriced, outdated, like warm water with no ice, hard bread, and their waiter sucked ass! this was probably the worst restaurant i've been to in new orleans. bought a tuna steak it was disgusting. the blackened catfish napoleon was delicious. the drink iorderedsomething with gin and champagne actually tasted like a clean long island. the waiter told us that he was busy and when he said he hoped we come back i said i never would. he just walked off. they only give you one small butter pat for the entire table. i was not impressed their white bean cassoulet which was very runny and not at all tasty. i would not ever tell people to eat here. ever under any circumstances.

march 16th, 2015 | author: burgerdogboy superior seafood is on the st. charles streetcar line, a quick ride from the quarter.   superior’s  menu incorporates the best of local seafood,  po boys, plates, and fresh catch, with beef, chicken and pasta available for those who partake in those edibles.  it’s moderately priced ($10 – $25), is happy to toss you a loaf of leidenheimer’s to start with, is open for lunch and dinner seven days, with brunch service sunday mornings. my companion is a local, as local as you can get, her family having arrived in 1750, and she had a hankering for a shrimp po-boy and said superior was the one for her.  iordereda half with fries, sheordereda whole one and said i’d regret my diminutive order. which i did. she said she’d share, but she lied. it’s one delicious sandwich, and they had outstanding coffee as well. classic cocktails run $8-$12, and they have a happy hour daily from 4:00 – 6:30, the highlight of which is 50 cent raw oysters, a bargain these days. wine list is respectable and value-priced. they do catering , including crawfish boils . shrimp po boy   superior seafood review posted in bread , hot off the grill , sandwiches , seafood | tags: @superiornola , new orleans , oysters

yum!. i was in new orleans for a friend's birthday. everything weorderedwas delicious! the service was great too. next time i'm in new orleans, i'll definitely go back!

out on the town. we went to dinner at superior seafood for a friends birthday and we all had a wonderful time. it was the first time there for many of us and it was a pleasant surprise! first their happy hour is awesome $3 house wine and draft beer and a great bar atmosphere. we had reservations and were seated quickly. it was a little overwhelming when we first arrived because it is a little loud but once you were seated it seems not to be so bad. weorderedseveral different appetizers and they were all delicious and we all truly enjoyed our entree's. the servers were great and the price point was awesome. will be on my list of places to go back to!

not worth it.. disappointing experience. if you eat out a lot you'll know what i mean. it's an appealing atmosphere and location but the good experience ends there. the food quality is no where near what they charge. weordereda seafood dish which called for mussels. they were out of mussels but suggested we substitute scallops. we thought that would be a nice option but found we were charged $9 for each scallop in the dish. an overall insulting experience. there are so many other choices with restaurants who treasure their customers, do everyone a favor, frequent those unless you're ok with a single $9 scallop and disingenuous, detached service.

i'd been dying to check out the new seafood place that opened up on st. charles ave. this intersection is super busy and finding parking wasn't easy. but don't give up, cuz i promise the food is worth it. when i arrived, the hostess was very gracious and let me hang out in the doorway for the rest of my party to arrive. i saw chargrilled oysters in garlic, herbs, and butter and could not resist. luckily the rest of my group also love chargrilled oysters and so weordereda dozen. they're not huge nor are they tiny, i would say medium size and fresh! side salad my dinner entree came with this delightful side salad. the dressing wasn't overwhelming. ahi tuna salad one dining companion had the ahi tuna salad. the ahi tuna blackened topped with a superior ponzu sauce and set on field greens tossed with cilantro ginger vinaigrette dressing, mangos, avocados, tomatoes and crispy julienned wantons. delici

no seafood in the gumbo...... iorderedthe seafood gumbo and salad combo for lunch. before ordering, i called ahead to make sure that the gumbo only had seafood- no sausage or other meats. i was assured by the lady who answered the phone that their gumbo was strictly a seafood only gumbo- and she even verified this with one of her co-workers.

when i got the order at my office (this was a takeout order) my seafood gumbo had no seafood- only sausage. i called to complain and was told by a gentleman who i assume was a manager that their gumbo no longer has seafood (strange, because as i pointed out to him, the restaurant is named superior seafood) and they changed it very recently. i asked him why whoever answered the phone earlier told me the exact opposite, and he said most of their staff didn't even know the menu had changed. he apologized that no one had told their staff, and only offered that he hoped i would come back and try something else on their menu.

one of the best resturant experiences i've had in some time. called for a reservation 3 hours beforehand and was handled with the utmost professionalism. we were seated in the open air with a table on napoleon ave. the french bread was fresh and the wine by the glass selection was terrific and moderately priced. iorderedthe pasta vieux carre - cappillini pasta tossed with a creamy smoky tomato base served with shrimp, crawfish and andouille. my guestorderedthe scallops, wood grilled and were as big as hockey pucks. the scallops were prepared perfectly. we thenorderedthe bread pudding for desert and is simply the best i've ever had. this restaurant comes highly recommended and i look forward to returning soon.

good place, great service. ate here with the family on our first night in town for the sec tournament. parking can be a little tricky but they have a complimentary valet to handle that for you.

we started with a dozen gulf oysters on the half shell. they were fantasic, beautiful sea creatures tasting of the ocean. excellent french bread and butter is brought compliementary.

we each received a side salad with our meals consisting of lettuce, tomato, feta, olives and a light dressing. very good.

i had the mussels & frites in the traditional white sauce. the sauce was well balanced and had all the wonderful herbs in the broth. it felt like the mussels had probably been sitting in the window a little bit but were delicious none the less. the frites, on the other hand, were hugely disappointing. they tasted like, therefore i assume they were, frozen fries. i expected a little more from an $18 entree.

other dishesorderedby our party:

scallops: terrific scallops cooked perfectly with fingerling potatoes and green beans. crawfish etouffe that was reported to be very good. my brotherorderedthe drum and it was very mushy. the corn and potatoes served with it were excellent. the chicken and pasta were also reported to be good.

service was outstanding. our waitress was fun, attentive and friendly with tips for out of towners. the rest of the staff was prompt with water, plate clearing and anything else. i didn't see a single table that didn't receive a visit from the manager to ensure everything was well.

overall, the place is a good restaurant that could easily be propelled to greatness by fixing the details with the food. cut some fries, improve a few quality things here and there and off you go.

those oysters were on point though...

the waitstaff seems to need some experienceorderedoysters came with nothing constantly asking for things. one of the appetizer was literally mayo and three different kinds of fish/seafood all tasting like mayo...ordered blackened tuna burger whcich came out not black at all but more like a mystery meat patty...friendordereda poyboy that looked like a sloppy joe or again mystery meat...the salad was good as was the frozen mojito...have gone there 3 times now and will not go back unless i hear the staff has improved along with the food...so bummed really had hoped it would be better

they won't last long. so many problems with this place. i went with my co-workers yesterday and was highly disappointed. my expectations were pretty high after previewing the menu online. we started with the charbroiled oysters. i have never in my life eaten an oyster, so i was pretty impressed with them. i evenordereda second dozen. my co-workers let me know that they were just average and overpriced. i was feeling adventurous, so iorderedthe mussels with the white sauce. the sauce lacked seasoning and should have been reduced more. the wine was incredibly over powering. our entrees included: trout amandine, crabcake sandwhich, and the drum. the sandwich was the only thing that was edible. the trout was charred and dry and the side dishes (haricot vert, fingerling potatoes) were undercooked and bland. the drum was salty. the manager was quick to respond to our concerns, which was one of the highlights of the service. we bothorderedpasta dishes and they were both horrible. the pasta was salty and oily, while the shrimp were overcooked and uncleaned. unacceptable!!! our bill came to $130 plus...i left superior feeling inferior and robbed.
