worst seafood in the area. i've been here for lunch on two separate occasions with a group of coworkers. the building and location aregreatbut that's about it. it is located for all to see off the street car run and i think that's one of the only reasons they will stay in business. i'm sure tourists will keep the place alive. anywho, here is a list of my complaints:

-crawfish etouffee was very soupy and lacked flavor
-their other seafood seems to be prepared by simple line cooks instead of an owner/operator cook that you will find at other good places in the area.
-service was sub par - they don't bring you enough bread/butter and don't refill it promptly enough
-portion size for the money is simply not worth it.
-try to give a fine dining experience without having truly good tasting food
-napkins are extremely "linty" and get all over your dark clothing
-did i mention this place is way too pricey?

nice ambiance,greatwaiter, ok food.

the food took a long while to be served given the restaurant was empty.

pricey for "ok" food. there are too many other choices if you want to spend good money on ok food.

go somewhere else.

sundays are amazing here! the frozen mimosas were out of this world. didn't get to try the french 75 though, which i heard wasgreattoo. the raw oysters were nice in size and excellent. the gumbo had a dark roux, just the way i like it. must go back.

a friend of mine chose this as her birthday brunch destination. luckily they do take reservation and they even offer complimentary valet service. by the time i arrived to the table i had a $3.00 frozen mimosa waiting for me. it was actually pretty good. i followed it with a zing zang bloody mary, they rim the glass with blackening season- just how i like it!
the oysters rockefeller and chargrilled were good- nothing spectacular. everyone loved the carpaccio. i really enjoyed my salmon hash, i will most definitely get it again. we told the server it was our friends birthday. he brought out a decadent, molten, chocolate cake with ice cream and a huge sparkler in it. it reminded me of bottle service in vegas. it was a fabulous touch!
all in all, greatambiance, 3 piece jazz band on sunday, good drinks and good food. i'll be back:)

agreatfriend and i were in the city from the coast. looking to get a late lunch was proving a difficult request, didn't realize more than a few restaurants in that part of the city close between lunch and dinner. superior seafood looked to be our only option in the area for an upscale but casual bite. if you hate crowded noisey restaurants then try here on a weekday around three. you won't have a problem. the drinks are quite strong maybe so that you don't notice the sparseness of actual seafood in your meal. that's not to say what seafood was plated wasn't fresh and prepared to perfection just it seemed sparce for the price. i'm not looking for a cheesecake factory size portion mind you but three fried oysters on the fried oyster salad seems to me to be ...sparce.

out on the town. we went to dinner at superior seafood for a friends birthday and we all had a wonderful time. it was the first time there for many of us and it was a pleasant surprise! first their happy hour is awesome $3 house wine and draft beer and agreatbar atmosphere. we had reservations and were seated quickly. it was a little overwhelming when we first arrived because it is a little loud but once you were seated it seems not to be so bad. we ordered several different appetizers and they were all delicious and we all truly enjoyed our entree's. the servers weregreatand the price point was awesome. will be on my list of places to go back to!

great food and view of st charles avenue street car. we were visiting loyola & tulane university and stopped in here for dinner. we got a table by the big windows so we could see all the activity on st charles street. they have valet parking, agreatmenu and beautiful interior. i had the blackened catfish with crawfish étouffée, which was excellent ! started off with oysters which were fresh and plump. overall we had agreatexperience !

other than wickedly potent margaritas, i'm not a huge fan of superior grill. the service can be quite sloppy and the so-so cuisine can be phenomenally expensive (ever been during mardi gras?). that being said, i do have somegreatmemories of that restaurant, one which particularly stands out because i met one of my best friends there for the first time after she answered my platonic ad on craigslist.org. an innocent, meet & greet lunch turned into a full day and night of drunken debauchery and it all started with a few pitchers of superior's notorious margaritas. considering my attitude towards the "grill," it should come as no surprise that i was a bit leery of the fairly new superior seafood & oyster bar that opened up a couple of years ago. but, much to my pleasant surprise, i discovered that superior seafood is ... well ... pretty damn good. sure, their price to portion size ratio is a little skewed and sometimes it can get so loud in there, it's hard to hear someone talking right

server very friendly and attentive, kitchen way too slow. speakng of the kitchen, check out the pic posted of dried, chewy, inedible asparagus stalks. did i forget to add the asparagus is an extra $6 bucks??!? grilled fish portion was tiny for the price. this all spells one word: inconsistent. we gave u another chance....won't be back.

unhappy hour is what they should call their happy hour. really...it's not rocket science, people...the bartender had to explain the happy hour prices...2 dollars off this, a frozen something for a dollar off, half off only one wine....i already lost interest. make it simple. and don't even get me started on the inconsistent pricing of the food. it's a shame it took 2 years for renovation, and it's a gorgeous place in agreatlocation. we live around the corner, and no locals we know frequent this place. that should tell the owners something.
