summer roll family restaurant

fresh nice change. my wife and i went and tried summer roll out, very impressed with the freshness of the food and excellent service. happy to have a new restaurant in the northend. highly recommended.

very tasty. the raves about the summer rolls and dumplings were spot on! the char-grilled pork in the summer rolls is awesome. i had the special rice noodle bowl and it was chock full of protein and very tasty, there was so much there that i brought half home for lunch tomorrow. the other 2 both had the sate chicken and shrimp pho and both enjoyed it. we will definitely be back on a regular basis.

so good!!!. first visit to summer roll and i will definitely be back! nice decor, friendly staff and most importantly, fantastic food! the salad rolls were fresh and tasty! also had a satay chicken soup that was great with lots of meat in it! we also had the lemongrass chicken vermicelli bowl that was also excellent! the staff is so appreciative that we stopped in. can't wait to go back!

get the pork dumplings, they are as good as other reviewers have said. the chicken pad thai was delish, not spicy at all. the sate shrimp pho had nice flavor but was too spicy for my taste. all in all reasonable prices and great service. very nice people.

great experience. five of us had supper at this lovely new spot. i agree with others that the decor is very pleasing. loved the fresh green color of the walls and the new flooring. the bench seating was my only concern with the decor. i would like to see some cushions to add to the comfort and look of the seating.

the food was excellent. we tried the vietnamese rolls, deep fried wontons and dumplngs. the sauce for the dumplings was amazing! for the main course, we had chicken pad thai, singapore noodles, lemongrass beef, ginger beef and a special chop suey. the lemongrass beef was by far the crowd favorite with the ginger beef a close second. the singapore noodles were okay but not as flavorful as i would like. for me, the weakest dish was the pad thai, however others in the group really enjoyed the dish. it may just be a persnal preference thing! for dessert we tried the deep fried bananas. it is a dish to be shared and truly wonderful! we were sad that they were out of iced coffee.....next time.

all in all, i would not hesitate to give this friendly spot a recommendation and i will definitely go back.

ok here's the deal. i have eaten here enough times that i have never left hungry, never had a bad meal and always have great service. i have tried almost every menu item and everything is great. best combo so far is a ginger beef/chicken fried rice combo.

amazing!!. my fiance and i had found a nice restaraunt a few years ago on 33rd called fong's kitchen. we absolutely fell in love with this place and we go there, on average, 2 times a month. then we find out that they are opening another restaraunt in the north end called summer roll. we went here for the first time, i believe it was on march 22nd, and it was just as good, if not better, than we expected. the environment is nice, as is the staff, and the food is to die for. my favorite dish is the shrimp vermicelli and i would recommend this dish to anyone.

everyone needs to eat here, or at fongs kitchten, at least once!!!

a welcome addition!!. summer roll is a recent addition to our north end neighbourhood. located near lawson heights mall, they reside in the space formerly occupied by la bamba el norte. after waiting for a couple of weeks, my wife, our companion, and i decided it was time for a visit. we've been there twice in the last four days, so i'll quickly run down our menu items and experiences.

in a word, the place is fresh. the decor is fresh, the food is fresh, the vibe is fresh. the new look is clean, bright, open and welcoming. the staff were incredibly friendly and very helpful in making suggestions. these folks take a great deal of pride in their establishment.

the food is terrific. the rolls, herbs, vegetables, and garnishes were crisp and clean. every dish, especially appetizers, were served with herb garnishes that add a delightful edge to the food. here are some examples:
- the spring rolls (crispy rolls) were delicious, crispy, and light. a sprig of mint is available for extra pizzaz.
- the summer rolls (cold rolls) are a thing of beauty. they are huge, almost twice as big as other places. when you're named summer roll, you let it show in this signature dish. warm peanut sauce and fresh basil add a great flavour. it changes how i will eat these rolls from now on.
- although not on the menu, our friend asked about tofu pad thai, and sure enough, they whipped up a plate with no problem. she loved it, and said it was the best version of that dish in the city. the xl special noodle bowl (chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, and spring rolls) is now my "go-to" favourite. they put the fish sauce on the bottom, forcing you to mix the ingredients upon arrival. the mix is worth it, as everything blends wonderfully. it's a hearty dish, and will quickly become comfort food. my wife was absolutely delighted with her chicken and stir fried vegetables with vermacelli. the right blend of sauces made it her new favourite dish.

this restaurant is a gem, with a great location for folks in the north end. we plan on making this a frequent stop for us. it is a real treat. make sure to say hi to fong. she treats her establishment with pride, and welcomes customers like friends.

i came back. we are not from saskatoon and were introduced to summer role by family three days ago. i was in saskatoon again today and took a friend for lunch. we will both be back!! well done summer role, mrs. fong and tina (?).

a hidden gem. what a pleasant surprise to "find" an asian food restaurant in an out-of-the way strip mall where the food is outstanding as is the service. the prices are most reasonable. this is a "come back" for sure!

it was nice to eat in a modern vietnamese restaurant. it's always nice to see an asian restaurant in saskatoon without outdated decor. everything looked very new and clean. i was telling my dad how much i liked the floor there too. the servers are friendly and do everything they can to give you a good experience. shout out to tina for being a great host and to her mom for being such a sweet lady.

delicious!. fantastic food here! everything is very fresh and flavorful. there is an unfortunate lack of restaurants in the north end of saskatoon so summer roll is very welcome.

service is wonderful. all employees i've encountered are friendly, fun and clearly take great pride in their restaurant and work. i don't blame them. it's a great place.

i've gone back multiple times and will go back many times to come. fantastic food!

very impressed. worthy of all the praise.. loved the place. nice upscale, moden decor, with a cool color scheme. even if the place was a dive, it would still be worth it though, because the food is that good.
tried the spring rolls, which were excellent and served with lettuce and cilantro leaves which was a nice fresh touch. also the pan fried dumplings which has an awesome sweet ginger sauce for dipping. the beef sate soup was spot-on, with lots of great flavour and fresh herbs which are often missing in saskatoon. tried my friends vermicelli bowl too and also thought it tasted very fresh and contained all the components this dish should have.
eveything was beautifully presented on nice white modern plates and bowls, which was another nice touch.
got a chance to meet tina and her mom, fong who run the restaurant. very nice people, who are happy to make suggestions and obviously care about and appreciate their customers. they will surely build a loyal following in this location in no time.
oh, and ask about the deep fried banana w/ ice cream for dessert. it's not on the menu, but if they have it it is totally worth the caloric splurge.
looking forward to trying more of the menu.

i had the charbroiled pork vermicelli bowl and it was unbelievable!!! the pork tasted like it just came off the bbq!! not only was it tasty, it looks amazing!!!! so many different colors:)
i loved it sooooo much! i can't wait to go back!!:)

fantastic food, fantastic service! variety of food and always comes out fresh and delicious!! definitely returning again and again!
