always good. we seem to keep coming back here. winnipeg is blessed with some great places for thai food, but sukhothai has become our favourite. easily the most consistent thai food we've had; everything arrives at the table fresh and hot. service is friendly and the restaurant is always spotlessly clean. haven't yet tried the lunch specials because i don't work in the area, but for supper it's always near the top of our list.

worst thai i've had in the city. i've eaten at 6 other thai restaurants in the city that are all much better than both times i've eaten at sukhothai. the service was alright but i don't understand the hype at all. the salad rolls were the only thing i enjoyed. you could smell the fish sauce in the soup, so i passed on that. apparently it also tasted like fish sauce. the pad thai was actually dry and the noodles were sticking together. it was more like dry noodles with no sauce or taste. the mixed vegetable dish had next to no flavour (not salt, flavour). the red curry had almost no flavour. i could barely taste any of the red curry spices that are suppose to be used in a red thai curry. went here with a few people and we all agreed it was not good food. definitely won't be eating here again. don't believe the village hype. if you like good thai food try sabai down the street, siam or thaitations.

a new waitress?. we have eaten at this restaurant probably 15-20 times. we were disappointed this past friday and are now looking for a new thai restaurant. after waiting for our waitress for perhaps 10 minutes, she arrived at the table to take our order. when i ordered a glass of shiraz, she asked me if that was a red. really? this tells me we have a brand new waitress. you would think that as a new waitress she would be trying hard to do a good job. she was sullen and sloppy. she flopped our plates on the table. asked us how our meal was with out any evidence she really cared. although the waitress doesn't make the restaurant, it doesn't seem fair that the customer has to pay full price and waste a friday night with an inexperienced, to the extreme, waitress. as to the food, the basa curry was excellent. the pad thai was mostly noodles with the skimpiest portion of accompaniments. not a manager in sight.

food is very mediocre and overprices. the tom yum (which they dont even call it that) had no lemongrass flavor at all. if your looking for good thai food, don't come here. i'm running back to bangkok thai house in fort worth!!

their panang chicken is the best i've ever tasted anywhere. the nuea sukothai beef is fantastic. pad thai is delish. start off with a couple veggie spring rolls and you will be blown away.

pricy for decent food. slow service.. i decided to try sukhothai for the first time after hearing a lot of hype about the place.

personally. i thought the menu was very hard to read, and a little pricy for what we received. the calamari was very tasteless and i did not like the peanut sauce that accompanied the calamari.

the entrees were pretty good. i liked both dishes, but they were not knock your socks off great. the coconut jasmine rice was awesome however.

service was a little slow and i could see the server was very busy. she did not want to waste time coaching us through the menu which would have been appreciated. we had to pay at a till instead of the server taking care of payment at the table which i did not like. when you are paying that price for food, i expect proper service. paying at a till is only justified if the price reflects paying at a till.

i probably won't be back. there are better thai places that are much more fairly priced with better service.

better than nothing?. finding a place to dine on a sunday night is unfortunately rather limiting in winnipeg.

this evening i had the following:

beef skewers - the beef was quite dry! the peanut sauce wasn't at as flavourful as it could be.

papaya salad - this was a bit of an awakening for me since i've never had the papaya salad before. it was kind of like eating a coleslaw. there seemed to be a bitter aftertaste for me.

salmon pad keang pra - this dish included two pieces of fish and some vegetables. i don't think salmon was a very good choice of fish.

pad thai beef - this was okay. beef was dry as well, just seemed to be beef and noodles and minimal veggies.

overall i didn't think i had a good food experience there. i would recommend thida thai over this place.

one of the best. great peanut sauce and and a real authentic som tum salad. the service is always good but it can be busy at times so plan ahead. its hard to determine the spice level so be cautious and order on the lower scale. they offer a wide variety of sluchy fruity drinks as well that are wonderful. the ambiance is nice more of a date place than a business meeting type place. ok for kids but not recommended. visit it soon or order on line.

great times at sukhothai!. popped in last friday and had a great time!

we probably had the best server sukhothai has ever had. she was very friendly and attentive. the food was good too.... my only criticism is the lettuce wraps.... half of an iceberg lettuce head on the plate was a bit excessive and hard to manage. the pad thai was awesome the coconut curry soup awesome. definitely will be back!
