succotash

i'm a picky eater. i'm tired of restaurants serving pre-cooked frozen food. you won't find any of that here. we all tried something different, every entree was fantastic! home cooked, fresh ingredients, fun options. theservicewas fast, friendly, and our food arrived incredibly fast. they were pretty busy especially since it was mother's day. we will be back for sure. thanks for renewing my faith in the restaurant experience!

great little place for breakfast. the decor in this place is the first thing you'll notice. it is kitschy and fun to look at, as long as you're not seated across from the over-sized picture of the woman with red stuff dripping out of her mouth. that picture is just plain disturbing when you're trying to eat. you have to check out the bathrooms in this place.

theservicewas friendly, but a tad bit slow, but there was no wait to get a table. the food was good and fairly creative with very large portions. i will definitely try this place again.

while visiting kc stumbled on this slice of brunch heaven. theservicewas exceptional! the restaurant is full of charm and character. the menu is healthy and fresh to your table. our favorite was the fresh pressed juice bar. we enjoyed it so much we went two days straight! can’t wait to return to kc so we can eat here! don’t miss the best breakfast in kc!

delicious ecclecticity. the food at succotash is simple but absolutely delicious. the staff is friendly and theserviceis great. succotash is a wonderful little kansas city find who's secret is quickly being revealed. a bit crowded on the weekends but the food and experience is well worth being (very) close to strangers while eating. the artwork gives off a whimsical vibe and makes for great conversation. when visiting succotash, both the crab claw eggs benedict and the tuna melt are must trys!

service is terrible. i agree with the last reviewer... i don't know what's happened at succotash, but theirserviceis absolutely terrible. don't get me wrong, their food rocks, but i'm not sure it's worth tolerating their cranky staff. they snap at you... will not oblige simple requests... and frankly, they make you feel like a giant inconvenience. i used to be their biggest fan, now i find myself sharing my customerservicehorror stories with everyone i know. sorry succotash - if you want to make it, you better start improving your staff's attitudes.

greatserviceand fresh ingredients! awesome duck stew and vegan deelight wrap! cuban was huge, monte cristo was amazing, and the zucchini gratin was so tasty! will definitely be returning, and want to try breakfast items next time!

happy stomach= a happy heart. i absolutely love this place. i've been eating at succotash since before they moved and have always left happy. the food is amazing, especially breakfast. theservicecan be a little slow but it's totally worth the wait. the portions are huge. (i always have enough left over for breakfast the next day!) i adore the fresh juices.

food is good and flavorful. huge portions for breakfast.serviceis downright awful. the server wouldn't look or speak to my boyfriend. she didn't even take his plate off the table when we were finished. it was...odd to say the least.
if you like to people watch and enjoy delicious food simultaneously, this is the place for you.

tried it twice now once for breakfast and once for lunch. both times theserviceand the food was horrible.

the food here is awesome. the pork hash is highly recommended. theserviceis garbage. you thought the hipster bar tender at port fonda was bad but this place takes the cake. we were seated by a friendly host and then waited forservicefor 10min. my wife then asked for someone to come over and no one came. we saw waitress refuse to serve us. at this point we got up to leave but the host convinced us to stay and said someone would be right over. no one came and again we saw the waitress arguing with host and refuse us service. we are not going back. we brought relatives here from out of town. this restaurant embarrassed us and themselves. if you respect yourself you won't go here.

i’ve always been a fan of succotash, but more so since beth barden moved the operation to 26th and holmes a couple of years ago. it still has the funkiness of the original river market location, butserviceis better and it’s more spacious. with a larger kitchen, the offerings have expanded to include so many mouthwatering options that i always have trouble deciding what to order.

good breakfast joint with a few problems.... i had the smoked salmon eggs benedict. for the most part, it was really good. the topping and sauce to muffin ratio was good--this is something i am a little particular about because i like to have everything in every single bite. the hollandaise was delicious--buttery and herbaceous. the muffin was a dense whole wheat kind that i think they over heated and then when it cooled it became hard. the first half i ate was fine but by the time i got to the second i couldn't cut it with the knife. the most disappointing part was the home fries. they were half completely burned and half completely limp while being wholly unseasoned.

this is my second visit to succotash. i remember liking my previous experience so despite these mishaps i will this give it another try in the future. i have read other reviews of mediocreservicewhich i think just comes with the territory. i get the feeling that the servers only tend to their own tables and don't even acknowledge anyone that they are not personally waiting on. as a server myself, this is a little disheartening. team effort would go a long way.

good local brunch/breakfast spot. succotash is one of my favorite breakfast/brunch spots. so far i've liked just about everything i've had there. the pancakes are massive! overall, the food is very good.servicecan be slow sometimes, but that is usually because the place is packed.

in a world of mundane breakfast, succotash stands as an exception. breakfast might be the most difficult meal to draw the masses in with, largely due to the difficulty of differentiating one's menu enough from the competitors' to justify travel time above and beyond that of going to the nearest local eatery. and that is what makes succotash so special. their menu is what i would consider 1/2 classic and 1/2 unique (and not the type of unique you would associate with abstract art that completely escapes you, but rather the type that hits you every time you see a new invention that's so obvious, you're mad for the next week that you didn't think of it sooner). portions are large, the food is prepared with an obvious passion, and for some strange reasonservicehas improved since the recent move to 2601 holmes. so, if you find yourself feeling a little frisky in the morning (for food that is), and willing to go the distance, try succotash and have yourself a "cake" & a smile (which is actually on the menu).
