went for lunch today and they were fairly busy, but the food and drinks came out pretty quick. there was a little mix up with one of the two orders but it wasn't a big deal and they were nice and apologetic. we ordered the swedish pancakes, a sandwich and a few fresh lemonades. the sandwich was really big and and thepancakeswere interesting, a little different than normal americanized pancakes. worth it if you are wanting something a little different. the building is a little older, but the atmosphere is fun. i would recommend to anyone in the area.

a cozy, corner diner playing good music with an excellent, friendly staff, good coffee, and the feel of a place that has been around forever. the menu at first seems basic, but has a lot of byo options to cater to everyone's needs. vegan? dietary restrictions? not a problem. blueberrypancakeswere excellent and veggie kitchen sink looked like a pile of dirty dishes, while tasting so good you won't need to run them through the wash. did i mention it's very well priced too??

wonderful place to visit in kc! fun atmosphere with a solid menu. nothing fancy, but well worth a visit. the fresh squeezed orange juice is amazing! the breakfast entree called the kitchen sink is delish and enough for two. blueberrypancakeswere beyond good.

i went for breakfast mid morning with friends. it was my out first visit. when we first arrived we waited for 5 min by the 'please wait to be seated' sign. about 5 tables were filled and 2 servers running around. finally someone acknowledged us and said we could pick anywhere. we were there 90 min from arrival to the time we finally received our change for our bill. slow all the way around. the food was ok. i had blueberrypancakeswith bacon and scrambled eggs. thepancakeswere good and bigger than the plate. the eggs on the otherhand tasted as though the were cooked in the microwave too long. my friends had the veggie sink and salmon wrap. both said the dishes were good but not great. i would try them again but probably not again if the visit is like this one.

good local brunch/breakfast spot. succotash is one of my favorite breakfast/brunch spots. so far i've liked just about everything i've had there. thepancakesare massive! overall, the food is very good. service can be slow sometimes, but that is usually because the place is packed.

lil bit country, lil bit gourmet. first things first...a wildly popular breakfast place is going to be crazy busy on a saturday. what do you expect? so either wake up earlier, go on another day, or suck it up!

onto the place...we tried succotash for the first time on a friday morning. the place was pretty empty. our waitress (who was waiting on 4 other tables) was very responsive and always there before we needed her. my coffee never got below a half cup before being refilled. the decor is interesting...vintage light fixtures and decorating elements with modern art make it a little hipster-deco. imho, the booths were fabulous (but quite low)...wish i could've taken a post-breakfast nap there. my only complaint about the entire place was the unappetizing painting above our booth of a woman eating/dripping out of her mouth what looks to be blood soup. oh, and the buzzing fly that joined us at the end of our meal...but it was only one fly so i can deal.

now onto the food! hubby ordered the colossal blueberry pancakes. they were good, but i prefer mypancakesthicker and less chewy. fresh oj was very good. i had the smoked salmon benedict. it was delicious!! i loved the dill hollaindaise, smoked salmon, and capers, but my favorite part was the beer bread. it was one of the best breads i have ever had. chewy, kind of sweet, and super delicious! the potatoes were wonderful too. they were crispy fried and soft at the same time. mine came unseasoned so i had to add some s&p but that's fine with me. i didn't know what to eat first so by the time i got to my potatoes they were cold :(. next time, i'll eat them first.
