slice on broadway

we have never had anything but great experiences with slice. the people who work there are super friendly, the service is fast, and the food is consistently amazing. i am especially fond of the big salad, which is head and shoulders above the typical pizza joint iceberg and shredded cheese mess. the frisky billygoat is another favorite. this is, by far, the best pizza in the south hills.

i thought the pie was a bit salty and the crust was a little too thin for my taste. i really liked how well done the pie was and i thought it was an excellent value for the money. i believe slice is trying to emulate a new york style pizza, but hey, this is pittsburgh.

consistent excellence. you'll think you're back in nyc. there's just one big difference. the owner and staff are all young people, and all very nice and polite. i thought that only middle-aged and older italian guys can do this. nice to be wrong sometimes. this is authentic, thin-crust, high-quality nyc pizza. i'm a sauce guy and i prefer a zesty, almost tangy tomato sauce. that said, slice has a slightly sweet sauce, and it is a perfect component of this perfect pizza. ricco, the owner, stopped by our table to chat with us. he was sincerely interested in who we are and how our experience was going. we couldn't say enough nice things about his pizza or his staff. he cleared up the mystery about how you get the consistently excellent food and consistently friendly service. he instills the importance of these elements into his staff. they all treat the business as if it were their own. hats off to you, ricco and staff. you've nailed it - superior food + superior service = highly successful restaurant.

wow great pie. i'm from the north hills area. my wife and went to slice for a birthday party on saturday, upstairs of the shop, definitely worth crossing the river for. the thin crust awesome, great sauce & fresh wonderful toppings. we had the house salad & antipasta salad both with the house dressing. (great) we tried the white pizza, cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, margarita pizza, mushroom pizza, explosive flavors in all........this is a bold statement i know, with beto's down on banksville rd. and fiories off of west liberty. when you taste it you'll know what i mean..... dan

finally tried slice. drive by often and stopped in and we had two, a pepperoni and a white with some veggies on top. the crust is thinner and chewy/crisp. the tomato sauce has some seasoning and a very distinctive flavor. enjoyed the white pizza a little more. while the pizza is enjoyable, not my favorite but i will stop back.

pizza by the slice. actually ordered a whole pizza. the service was super friendly and outgoing! love that! the pizza sauce is a little sweet and the crust was crunchy.

great pie-from a new york pizza snob. we traveled from o'hara township to eat at slice. the pizza would stack up against the best in nyc. what made the pizza even better were the guys who work the shop and the owner. they were so excited about their craft and even said "if you do not absolutely love your pie, we will buy it" i can tell you this pizza is bar none the best nyc style in pittsburgh. thanks guys and keep cooking great food!

great! and they deliver to mt wash!!. i don't typically write reviews but going to make an exception for slice on broadway because i am so incredibly f**king psyched that this place delivers to mt. washington. the pizza is really very good on it's own, and relative to some of the straight-up garbage pie sold around here, it's mind blowing how good slice is. i've only had a large pie with mushrooms, pepperoni and green peppers but that pie is thin, fairly crisp even after delivery with a sturdy crust that holds up to re-heating but doesn't really need to be. upon arrival the dough hasn't disintegrated into a cheap-cheese grease mush like others i've experienced. toppings are fresh, and the perfect amount on there as well. oh and their large salad has actual greens and real ingredients and their dressings are good and made in house. highly recommended.

great food/awesome people. ordered take out from slice the other day. as usual i enjoyed the food, but what really made me want to post on here is what happened after i picked up my food. as i was leaving the store to get in my jeep, a man with a snow shovel turns to me and ask me if i am nicole. i said yes, and he hands me my debit card that i dropped on the ground outside the storefront. i didn't get his name but i wish i did so i could thank him here. but to the guy with the snow shovel. thank you so much, you might have saved my christmas! and the food is equally as awesome as the people working to make it. its nice to know that honest people, doing honest work still exist. merry christmas slice on broadway!

by far the best in the tristate region. keep up the great work.

cooked correctly. there seems to be a trend throughout pittsburgh and it's region with under cooked pizza. too low of heat. not the case for slice.

ordered 2 pizzas - margherita and the athena. both were winners - preferred the margherita over the athena but i would definitely order the athena again when i want that feta kick.

sauce a little on the sweet side but not distracting
the crust was perfect, very thin - very crispy.

mineo's is there when i want a 1 pound slice of pizza with crispy crust. but if i have a hankering for a true nyc slice that is cooked correctly, i will stop by slice, even though it's 24 miles from my house.

congrats on a job well done and i hope they keep it consistent and crispy

great pizza and kindness. so we are returning on the t from seeing the big rubber duck with an 8 and 2 year old. unbeknownst to us the t is closing early for service so we are let off on broadway to wait for a bus to take us to our stop. everyone is starving and we don't know how long we will have to wait for the bus so we turn around and there is slice! we decide to go in and grab a slice. i have had delicious pizza delivered from here many times and it is always a delight. tonight's green monster was no exception! pesto, artichokes, spinach, roasted red peppers, goat cheese--amazing! but the most impressive part of our adventure was the way we were treated. each and every person working at slice was kind and generous beyond belief. these people seem to genuinely enjoy their job! they engaged the kids in conversation, made sure we were taken care of and enrico, the owner introduced himself and brought the kids paper and markers to keep them occupied while we ate our pizza. they have a "secret" upstairs where we sat along with a group celebrating a birthday and seeming to have a wonderful time. when we were leaving we asked about the bus because we still had to get to our t stop to pick up our car. not only did they call to find out if the bus was running on time but one of their delivery guys offered us a ride to our car so we wouldn't have to wait. talk about going above and beyond! as i said before, i order my pizza from slice and it is always delicious but i will be hard pressed to try another place. it isn't often you run into a group of genuinely kind and thoughtful people. thank you slice! i will make sure to tell everyone about your generosity!

best part of going tothe steeler game last night....tailgating at slice then taking the trolley. the shiras stop is at their front door! delicious as always, our favorite pizza, hands down!

first time to slice tonight. absolutly perfect italian pizza. hand tossed dough, nice & thin, then baked crunchy - chewy, just the way pizza is suppose to be. we had the pizza margarita, frisky billygoat, and athena along with an anti pasta salad. yum! we live in lebo & is well worth the short drive...and it's byob!

put it on your bucket list !. when this shop opened on my street, i was thankful to have budget and time friendly gourmet food at my finger tips. with a fresh basil plant to top my freshly made dough, this shop offered flavor and friendly ness that you often encounter in this region. when their witty menu expanded to include the fancy pants sandwich, i knew this was the best of the best.

slice. all i can say is.....wow..... got the "fancy pants" pizza w/ their green sauce (pesto), prosciutto, goat cheese, sun-dried tom's. it was flippin' awesome! can't wait to go back & get it again. but i must say i think i enjoyed the "peeps" that work there & the service even better! what a fantastic place. i'm mad that i just found out about it & it's been there since july 2010. better late than never... great job guys.

good food! poorly managed. first time in visiting tonight from north hills after hearing much about it. hoagies and slices were delish! very poorly managed however.. took forever for the food. do feel bad for employees being talked to like that too

best pizza ever!!!. i was visiting my family in pittsburgh from las vegas and they took us there. this is by far the best pizza i have ever had. the veggies were cook to perfection and the crust is wonderful. it blows any pizza in vegas away. we even went back right before we came home to have more pizza!! the staff is super friendly too! if you are ever in the area this is a must have!!! no other pizza comes close. now if they can just figure out how to ship their pizza out to vegas ;)
