lovely food.......however. we went on a saturday evening - good smells at the door ( always a good sign ). they desperately need a seated area at the front window / door for people to wait .

first the good. food was very good - sauces very well made and complex in the tastes.
naan was outstanding as well. portions were a good size.
prices fair for well made food.

the service however leaves a lot to be desired. they have nobody to clean away tables after customers have left. it is a real turn off to eat while 4 tables adjacent to yours are left for over half an hour without being cleared.
owner was a nice man but is being severely let down by other wait staff. water or drinks where never replenished by staff ( even when asked for ). we asked for the cheque but that never came either we had to go to the desk and pay ( although i was made to wait over 5 minutes to actually pay ). there are a lot of things that upset customers and in this case the food was not it.

thisrestauranthas great potential, as i have said the food is very good and easily the best indian food in victoria at this time . ( i am a londoner so i know what i am saying ).
the service aspect needs to be addressed immediately if they expect repeat customers.
i hope they can sort this out as this is the only issue i could see for me to delay a second visit.

a must try!. the sizzling tandoorrestaurantdoesn't disapoint. i have eaten there several times and i have tried many of the menu options and everything was absolutely delicious. i have to say i am now addicted. i crave their food on a daily basis! if you haven't tried it yet you are missing out! my personal favorites are the coconut curry and the cashew korma.

well the worstrestauranti have ever been in my life. the road side dhabas in india would serve better food than the rip off thisrestaurantis doing.
negative in customer service and negative marks in terms of the quality of food.
we were a group of 4 visiting victoria and thought of going to this indianrestaurantafter looking at the ratings on zomato of 4.3.
instead of going for a regular buffet we thought of ordering ala carte from the menu as we wanted more in terms of what the buffet was serving.
firstly, the waiter who was serving us was very impatient in taking our orders. he was in rush. he walked off even before we completed our order.
secondly, we ordered 4 garlic basil naans which came out as burnt all four of them. and those naans were literally had burning taste. the owner said that that's how the tandoors in canada works and she questioned us whether we have been to indianrestaurantbefore in canada, that's just stupid to say to customers.
yes we have been to many indian restaurants in canada and never faced a problem like the one we faced at this restaurant.
thirdly, when we told waiter about the naans, he could he will just remove the naans from the bill as if we were purposely making an issue over naan to not pay bills. but that was not the case.
later when we told the waiter that it wasn't about the bill.. he said you guys came in to therestaurantwith a bad mood and spoilt my good mood into bad mood.
overall i would say.. do not go to thisrestaurantspecially for all indians because this is not arestaurantfor indians

incidence 1: the server

(january 2017) i took take out again, and they screwed up our order again. we had two meals the same- one was medium/mild (mine) one was extra hot. guess what happened? after, i burned my mouth off, my dining partner realized why his tasted so uneventful. the woman particularly told us which was which. they should have written it on the bag or the package. this is second time they've made a major error in our orders, and again, there was only one person dining in therestauranton the night we went (mid-week).

(december 2016) i took take out. consistent menu with uptown location. make sure you check your bag if you do takeout to ensure everything is there. we got home and realized out meals were missing. we ran back and picked up the meal in time before closing. they comped us a dessert. it was mid-week and therestaurantwas almost empty. seems like a good romantic place to go.

the sizzling tandoorrestaurantis one of my favourite restaurants in victoria!  we have been eating here at least once a month for the last 5yrs and the food is constantly always excellent!  friends have dragged us to "other" "highly rated" curry restaurants and the food has always fall short of the quality of sizzling tandoor!  seriously its that good!  my favourite - coconut curry!  lamb rogan josh melts off your fork!  their vegetarian options are wide and delicious.  this place is a gem - service is friendly and knowledgeable - and you can order take out!  you will not be disappointed!

good service, great food. we live the sizzling tandoor. but unfortunately last night we ordered take out and therestaurantforgot to put enough sauces in the order, not a big deal. just inconvenient as its dinner time at home and we have kids waiting. they were super awesome about it and when we ran back tto get it, they gave up an amazing extra appy with this note. great service. real people. i appreciate that!!

hi every one.our goal is to provide you quality food and service sorry if any time some one felt that service is slower we apologize for that but we are always open to hear your suggestions .

another great meal. had the butter chicken with naan. has to be the best butter chicken ever. good was amazing and the atmosphere was second to none. the wait staff took extra special care of our daughter allowing my wife and i to truly enjoy our meal out. will be back for sure.

amazing food. my wife and i went to the sizzling tandoor based on word of mouth coversations about how great the food was here. figured if so many people said it was great that it would be a good night out! we were pleasantly suprised! not only was the food good....it was amazing. the level of spice did not take away from the flavour of the dishes. everything was served hot. every bite of the food was full of flavour. we had to wait a bit as therestaurantwas swamped but very much worth the wait. would recommend this to anyone. we will definately be back!!!!

this is my favourite place for indian take-away. i bet therestaurantwould be a nice experience. we love the spinach paneer. seriously. we'd marry it if it were possible.

my favourite indianrestaurantin victoria!! i've been to both the downtown and uptown locations and i don't know what everyone is talking about with the slow service as i've never experienced it. i do smile a lot so maybe that helps. my favourite dishes are the coconut curry with chicken (my #1 favourite actually), the butter chicken, and the cashew curry. i've tried a friend's vindaloo and it was also good. their garlic naan is great and if you want something different try the a rosemary naan. the mango lassie is also delish! i'm going there again before seeing 100 foot journey at the theatre!

waited an hour and a half for our food, and overheard 2 other tables ask about when their food would arrive. (therestaurantwas maybe half full, 4 full tables). we were headed to a movie so asked for an eta, when the food never showed up we asked for it to go. after being assured there was cutlery in our bag we opened the bag at the theatre to discover no cutlery. it was a bummer

we opted for the buffet at lunch, and as with most buffets, the same maxim applies here: you get what you pay for. $12 gets you a limited selection of lowest-common-denominator indian buffet food. i found most of the offerings underwhelming, some of it very bland, but you get all you can eat and free naan is served to tables. i tend to avoid buffets because quantity comes at the expense of quality. i suspect the real gold in thisrestaurantis found via ordering the more refined menu items a la carte, and i further suspect this is what inspires all the raves. i look forward to returning for dinner some day and ordering off the menu. but i won't be back for the buffet.

best ever. my daughter and i stopped into sizzling tandoor after looking up where we might find an indian restaurant. we were seated quickly despite therestaurantbeing packed, service was excellent and food absolutely delicious. i had chicken vindaloo which was great, naan is a generous portion and well prepared. i came onto this site to look for a gift card option for my (student) daughter for christmas. couldn't come up with a better gift!
