sizzling tandoor restaurant

probably the best. location: easy to find. down town location.
parking: unfortunately it is going to be either parkade or street parking. free parking afterhours/weekends.
interior: small, yet clean. decoration was not overpowering/boring.
service: excellent.
food: great food. probably the best in victoria.naanbread was huge, crispy and delicious. butter chicken wasn't oily and they said the chicken are local fresh. apparently they have two type of spicy rating. if you want indian spicy, make sure you mention "indian" spicy.

avoid: the lamb. meat was dry and you can tell it has been refrozen a couple of times. this is quite normal because lamb meat isn't as popular as chicken, pork or beef.

big menu, great food, outstanding service. order the paneernaanbread.

i recently attended sizzling tandoor on a friday night it, we had a reservation for 7 ockock for a party of two. we stood in the door way for about 35 minutes waiting to be seated as we understood it was the friday night after a public review so we expected considerable volume. once seated we were promptly approached by the manager who thanked us for our patience and happily took drink orders as his serving staff was very busy. our food came after a tasty complimentary appetizer. i cannot say enough good things about the food. i ordered the roagan josh, a recommended dish, a mulligatawny soup which i have to say was the best i have ever had. overall the evening was a few hours long, but perfect aromas, pleasant music with non overpowering conversation around us. it was a great date night. i have even recommended this to my parents who are coming in from out of province. we both had our own menu appetizers, our own entree, shared cheesenaanand alcoholic beverages and enough left overs for a large lunch the next day. in the end the evening cost about fifty dollars for the two of us. as we payed our bill the manager thanked us for our business and asked that to tell my friends about my expirience. i happily obliged.

had been to this place recently. the seating was great. ambience too was good. had the buffet lunch. loved their butter chicken, tandoori chicken and dal makhani a lot. hadnaanwith it which was soft and tasted good. overall a very good place.

well the worst restaurant i have ever been in my life. the road side dhabas in india would serve better food than the rip off this restaurant is doing.
negative in customer service and negative marks in terms of the quality of food.
we were a group of 4 visiting victoria and thought of going to this indian restaurant after looking at the ratings on zomato of 4.3.
instead of going for a regular buffet we thought of ordering ala carte from the menu as we wanted more in terms of what the buffet was serving.
firstly, the waiter who was serving us was very impatient in taking our orders. he was in rush. he walked off even before we completed our order.
secondly, we ordered 4 garlic basil naans which came out as burnt all four of them. and those naans were literally had burning taste. the owner said that that's how the tandoors in canada works and she questioned us whether we have been to indian restaurant before in canada, that's just stupid to say to customers.
yes we have been to many indian restaurants in canada and never faced a problem like the one we faced at this restaurant.
thirdly, when we told waiter about the naans, he could he will just remove the naans from the bill as if we were purposely making an issue overnaanto not pay bills. but that was not the case.
later when we told the waiter that it wasn't about the bill.. he said you guys came in to the restaurant with a bad mood and spoilt my good mood into bad mood.
overall i would say.. do not go to this restaurant specially for all indians because this is not a restaurant for indians

incidence 1: the server

i went to sizzling tandoor with my friends and had a great meal.  the service was very kind and attentive.  i had the beef vindaloo and it had nice big chunks of lean beef and a great vindaloo sauce.  i ordered it hot and it was indeed hot, with a great complexity of spice and vinegar.  my friends ordered various other curries and they're younger people who can handle spice but i think they found that mild and medium both leaned more to the "hotter" side of things.  bathrooms were clean and sanitary.  there are a lot of great looking options on the menu.  goodnaanand roti, delicately brushed with oil and with a good soft texture.  i'm not sure if it's my absolute favourite for indian food in victoria but it is certainly very good.  it's nice that they have a vegan menu for my vegan friends.  drinks and food all seemed appropriate in value for the level of quality.  nice atmosphere, good music, not too loud or busy.  a great place for a fine meal, especially with some good company!

my favourite indian restaurant in victoria!! i've been to both the downtown and uptown locations and i don't know what everyone is talking about with the slow service as i've never experienced it. i do smile a lot so maybe that helps. my favourite dishes are the coconut curry with chicken (my #1 favourite actually), the butter chicken, and the cashew curry. i've tried a friend's vindaloo and it was also good. their garlicnaanis great and if you want something different try the a rosemary naan. the mango lassie is also delish! i'm going there again before seeing 100 foot journey at the theatre!

the best indian food i've ever had!. as a person of south asian descent, i am very particular when it comes to indian restaurants. i can honestly say that the food here is amazing! i have been here several times over the past few months, and the food has been consistently awesome. the curries are so flavorful, and the garlicnaanis a must try. well done sizzling tandoor, keep it up!

yumm!. i really enjoyed my meal from sizzling tandoor. thenaanbread is excellent!! the portions were a bit smaller than i expected, but i will know to order more for next time. spices were just right.

amazing food! thenaanis not fluffy like othernaani had but it tastes great! the food is appropriately portioned and is very tasty! my compliments also to the murals on the walls!

curry nirvana!. always delicious, fresh and exciting food at sizzling tandoor. we searched in vain for good indian food in victoria and were thrilled when this place arrived a few years ago! divine experience for the taste buds every time. i highly recommend thenaan- especially the paneer and garlic naans. i've had everything vegetarian on the menu... all is tasty. the korma and eggplant are never fail delicious. if you eat only one meal in victoria - eat here!

that sucked. i've been to the downtown sizzling tandoor for the lunch buffet a couple of times and thought it was fine so decided to try it for dinner last night. in short it was awful, the chicken wings andnaanto begin were ok but the biryani and vindaloo entrées were abysmally bad. we're talking not feeling well and throwing out the leftovers bad. the food is always central in my view but the service although friendly enough was inept and things were incredibly slow. not planning to darken their door again for love or money.

we took our 3 teenagers for an ethnic experience and we enjoyed our meal. thenaanbread & papadoms disappeared quickly before the meal arrived too :)

sooo good!! i had the coconut curry with a side of regularnaanin mild/medium heat. i don't like alot of heat but this was too mild for me. my friend had the tandori chicken and in medium, and although the flavor was really good, both of us found it too mild.
