sizzling tandoor restaurant

very disappointed in the lunch buffet, only two meat dishes , butterchickenand tandoorichickenwould have expected several more meat dishes to choose from for the price would not recommend

probably the best. location: easy to find. down town location.
parking: unfortunately it is going to be either parkade or street parking. free parking afterhours/weekends.
interior: small, yet clean. decoration was not overpowering/boring.
service: excellent.
food: great food. probably the best in victoria. naan bread was huge, crispy and delicious. butterchickenwasn't oily and they said thechickenare local fresh. apparently they have two type of spicy rating. if you want indian spicy, make sure you mention "indian" spicy.

avoid: the lamb. meat was dry and you can tell it has been refrozen a couple of times. this is quite normal because lamb meat isn't as popular as chicken, pork or beef.

a buffet that is delicious and inexpensive...can't beat it. the butterchickenis really good. it's very easy to over eat and leave with a second trimester food baby.

it's pretty darn good but.... i think $21.00 for butterchickenand bread is a bit much. there wasn't a lot ofchickeneither. three spoon full of rice.

it is very tasty, but there are a lot of tasty options in the hood.

my experience with the service has always been good.

well, there was this one time...i ordered a gin and tonic and it came as a gin and soda. gross. i actually think they would hope i wouldn't notice.

for getting take out to eat alone, no. if eating with friends. yes. that way i won't notice the missing food and high prices.

had been to this place recently. the seating was great. ambience too was good. had the buffet lunch. loved their butter chicken, tandoorichickenand dal makhani a lot. had naan with it which was soft and tasted good. overall a very good place.

i love the lunch buffet here! delicious and a great price! the butterchickenis amazing as well as the pekoras! service is usually good and friendly. :)

raw chicken. three of us went for the buffet. very friendly server and all was good. had a bite of thechickenand noticed that it was raw. when the server came to pick up the plate we heard her telling the cooks in the back. however, they didn't remove it from the buffet.....the chef with us couldn't believe it.

another great meal. had the butterchickenwith naan. has to be the best butterchickenever. good was amazing and the atmosphere was second to none. the wait staff took extra special care of our daughter allowing my wife and i to truly enjoy our meal out. will be back for sure.

amazing food. my wife and i went to the sizzling tandoor based on word of mouth coversations about how great the food was here. figured if so many people said it was great that it would be a good night out! we were pleasantly suprised! not only was the food good....it was amazing. the level of spice did not take away from the flavour of the dishes. everything was served hot. every bite of the food was full of flavour. we had to wait a bit as the restaurant was swamped but very much worth the wait. would recommend this to anyone. we will definately be back!!!!

my favourite indian restaurant in victoria!! i've been to both the downtown and uptown locations and i don't know what everyone is talking about with the slow service as i've never experienced it. i do smile a lot so maybe that helps. my favourite dishes are the coconut curry withchicken(my #1 favourite actually), the butter chicken, and the cashew curry. i've tried a friend's vindaloo and it was also good. their garlic naan is great and if you want something different try the a rosemary naan. the mango lassie is also delish! i'm going there again before seeing 100 foot journey at the theatre!

that sucked. i've been to the downtown sizzling tandoor for the lunch buffet a couple of times and thought it was fine so decided to try it for dinner last night. in short it was awful, thechickenwings and naan to begin were ok but the biryani and vindaloo entrées were abysmally bad. we're talking not feeling well and throwing out the leftovers bad. the food is always central in my view but the service although friendly enough was inept and things were incredibly slow. not planning to darken their door again for love or money.

sooo good!! i had the coconut curry with a side of regular naan in mild/medium heat. i don't like alot of heat but this was too mild for me. my friend had the tandorichickenand in medium, and although the flavor was really good, both of us found it too mild.

best indian cusine in town (almost better than my grandma used to make!). i have been twice and i can tell you the food is absolutely to die for. the first time we went we had the lunch buffet at the downtown location. at $12 per person the buffet was of really great value, especially since i fell in love with the butterchickenand helped myself to three servings! it was such an interesting experience, a busy little resturant that attracts people of many different ages and cultures. our server was very professional and attentive given how busy it was at the time.
we visited the new location in uptown mall and were very impressed by the upscale decor. it was a truly fabulous dining experince. we came in 15 minutes before closing time and the owner personally served us with great charisma and enthusiasm. i had the butterchickenand my friend had thechickenvindaloo. i think that i liked his even more than mine! it has a very fresh and creamy taste of cashew. we had naan bread, and even though we were there late you could tell that it was made fresh to order.

we are very impressed and will be loyal sizzling tandoor customers for years to come.

i've said it before, and i'll say it again.. walking down johnson street, with all of the sights and sounds, i am consistently drawn to sizzling tandoor by the irresistible aromas. once i've given into temptation and had a seat, it is extremely difficult for me to settle on any particular menu item, i've tried many and they have all been delicious. the buffet is an overwhelming ( in a good way) array of sensation stimulating delectability. if i come in during the evening and have missed the buffet, and cannot decide on anything, i go to my fail-safe dish, the butterchickenwith a side of plain naan. i have never in my life tasted anything that makes my mouth water at the mere thought of it more than sizzling tandoor's butter chicken. and of course the butterchickenpoutine. if you ever have the opportunity to dine here, i strongly recommend it.

best ever. my daughter and i stopped into sizzling tandoor after looking up where we might find an indian restaurant. we were seated quickly despite the restaurant being packed, service was excellent and food absolutely delicious. i hadchickenvindaloo which was great, naan is a generous portion and well prepared. i came onto this site to look for a gift card option for my (student) daughter for christmas. couldn't come up with a better gift!

good food good value. had the buffet, nice choices. highlights butterchickenand pork curry, lots of flavor and tender meat. i will be back!
