right on!. i absolutely loveindianfood when it is prepared right and this place has left me coming back time and time again.

i usually get the vegetable paccora (sp?), naan, and dal.

the owners are great people and incredibly welcoming.

lovely food.......however. we went on a saturday evening - good smells at the door ( always a good sign ). they desperately need a seated area at the front window / door for people to wait .

first the good. food was very good - sauces very well made and complex in the tastes.
naan was outstanding as well. portions were a good size.
prices fair for well made food.

the service however leaves a lot to be desired. they have nobody to clean away tables after customers have left. it is a real turn off to eat while 4 tables adjacent to yours are left for over half an hour without being cleared.
owner was a nice man but is being severely let down by other wait staff. water or drinks where never replenished by staff ( even when asked for ). we asked for the cheque but that never came either we had to go to the desk and pay ( although i was made to wait over 5 minutes to actually pay ). there are a lot of things that upset customers and in this case the food was not it.

this restaurant has great potential, as i have said the food is very good and easily the bestindianfood in victoria at this time . ( i am a londoner so i know what i am saying ).
the service aspect needs to be addressed immediately if they expect repeat customers.
i hope they can sort this out as this is the only issue i could see for me to delay a second visit.

probably the best. location: easy to find. down town location.
parking: unfortunately it is going to be either parkade or street parking. free parking afterhours/weekends.
interior: small, yet clean. decoration was not overpowering/boring.
service: excellent.
food: great food. probably the best in victoria. naan bread was huge, crispy and delicious. butter chicken wasn't oily and they said the chicken are local fresh. apparently they have two type of spicy rating. if you wantindianspicy, make sure you mention "indian" spicy.

avoid: the lamb. meat was dry and you can tell it has been refrozen a couple of times. this is quite normal because lamb meat isn't as popular as chicken, pork or beef.

well, i think i have found a hidden gem. this has to have been the most exquisite eastindianfood in the west. flavorful,aromatic an experience for the taste buds. service could have had more of a smile, but really it is the food that counts. well done chef and kitchen crew.

greatindianfood. this was the bestindianfood i have ever eaten at a restaurant. in addition, i had take-out so i can't imagine how it would have tasted if i sat there. by the way i am eastindianso i am a harsh critic ofindianrestaurants. ingredients were fresh and authentic.

great food. finally someone has filled the lack of greatindianfood in victoria. the stuffed naan's are worth the trip alone and the rest of the food is so full of flavour.

my one piece of advice though for the owners is to change the lunch menu slightly. in comparison to the dinner menu, cut down the number of options to items that could be made slightly faster. cut down the size of the portions slightly and make it a more friendly lunch option. that means under $12, takeout friendly (slightly faster) options.

delicious food and good service. the best part is the team ensures food is as per individual taste levels and offers right choices and replacement if needed. the place is kept clean and properly lit. staff is polite. theindianstaff too is well trained.

well the worst restaurant i have ever been in my life. the road side dhabas in india would serve better food than the rip off this restaurant is doing.
negative in customer service and negative marks in terms of the quality of food.
we were a group of 4 visiting victoria and thought of going to thisindianrestaurant after looking at the ratings on zomato of 4.3.
instead of going for a regular buffet we thought of ordering ala carte from the menu as we wanted more in terms of what the buffet was serving.
firstly, the waiter who was serving us was very impatient in taking our orders. he was in rush. he walked off even before we completed our order.
secondly, we ordered 4 garlic basil naans which came out as burnt all four of them. and those naans were literally had burning taste. the owner said that that's how the tandoors in canada works and she questioned us whether we have been toindianrestaurant before in canada, that's just stupid to say to customers.
yes we have been to manyindianrestaurants in canada and never faced a problem like the one we faced at this restaurant.
thirdly, when we told waiter about the naans, he could he will just remove the naans from the bill as if we were purposely making an issue over naan to not pay bills. but that was not the case.
later when we told the waiter that it wasn't about the bill.. he said you guys came in to the restaurant with a bad mood and spoilt my good mood into bad mood.
overall i would say.. do not go to this restaurant specially for all indians because this is not a restaurant for indians

incidence 1: the server

i went to sizzling tandoor with my friends and had a great meal.  the service was very kind and attentive.  i had the beef vindaloo and it had nice big chunks of lean beef and a great vindaloo sauce.  i ordered it hot and it was indeed hot, with a great complexity of spice and vinegar.  my friends ordered various other curries and they're younger people who can handle spice but i think they found that mild and medium both leaned more to the "hotter" side of things.  bathrooms were clean and sanitary.  there are a lot of great looking options on the menu.  good naan and roti, delicately brushed with oil and with a good soft texture.  i'm not sure if it's my absolute favourite forindianfood in victoria but it is certainly very good.  it's nice that they have a vegan menu for my vegan friends.  drinks and food all seemed appropriate in value for the level of quality.  nice atmosphere, good music, not too loud or busy.  a great place for a fine meal, especially with some good company!

good food, great service. i eat the lunch buffet at both sizzling tandoor locations, and i have to say it is probably the best value in town. always a good variety of authenticindiandishes. i definitely would recommend this place to anyone. the service is great and so is the food.

sizzling tandoor!!. amazing food, great service, and good prices make sizzling tandoor one of my favourite restaurants in greater victoria. if you likeindiancuisine and you havent been here you are missing out!

the lunch buffet is fantastic, good price for a lot of good food makes it the best lunch buffet around.

awesome people with awesome food. i went to sizzling tandoor last nite with my friends and i ask the server for some recommendations at first she is kinda embarrass cuz i'm a regular visitor their bt then she recommended me rogan josh., aloo gobi, channa masala, spinach potato wid the perfect blend of spice...... i would like to thank thtindiangirl (server) she meet and greet people wid a perfect smile on her face... and food of course add flavor..... just perfect food wid perfect service.

this is my favourite place forindiantake-away. i bet the restaurant would be a nice experience. we love the spinach paneer. seriously. we'd marry it if it were possible.

my favouriteindianrestaurant in victoria!! i've been to both the downtown and uptown locations and i don't know what everyone is talking about with the slow service as i've never experienced it. i do smile a lot so maybe that helps. my favourite dishes are the coconut curry with chicken (my #1 favourite actually), the butter chicken, and the cashew curry. i've tried a friend's vindaloo and it was also good. their garlic naan is great and if you want something different try the a rosemary naan. the mango lassie is also delish! i'm going there again before seeing 100 foot journey at the theatre!
