definitely one of the nicest fancy special occasion restaurants to try in the brooklyn area. it is good to know that pretoria has one more nice restaurant to add to the "town". i've eaten at this restaurant twice now and both occasions i've been incredibly impressed and satisfied. their service is refreshingly superb, waiters are very attentive and friendly. food is really tasty. the scallop and pork belly starter is scrumptious, my new favourite starter. the prawn ravioli with parmesan crisp was also excellent. the venison trio was delicious and the meat was well cooked. the tiny oryx burger was one of the best burgers i've ever had. all in all, the experience, the food and the great service makes this place completely worth it for the once in a while occasion. i'm most certainly am going to lay off the fast foods so i can eat here more often. :)

an absolute treat and worth jumping on the the gautrain from jozi for. this was the best ostrich i have ever been served and the dessert was heavenly. our first choice of wine wasn't available, which was totally excusable because the second choice was a rare treat. it's pricey, but worth it.

wow. wow. wow. i think that pretty much sums it up, don’t you?

there’s little point in me writing long paragraphs about each thing we ate so i’m going to keep this short and simple.

our menu:
- oysters – absolutely amazing. well taken care of, with no chips of the shell anywhere, and fresh. served with yummy pickled ginger and celery relish. a hint of pepper and drops of lemon put me in heaven.
- chicken soup – good. the chicken was perfectly cooked and the soup served the right temperature.
- prawn ravioli – yummy. the sauce was quite sweet, which is the tricky part about tomato. i couldn’t have too much of that, but the portion was fine. i also liked the addition of the parmesan tuile for balance.
- salmon teriyaki – amazing. the salmon was aromatic, and not because of spices and desperate cover-ups. it was so so so fresh. teriyaki reduction complemented the salmon’s buttery taste perfectly.
- prime rib – my partner ordered this medium-well, and received it well done. bleh. the risotto was amazing, although the vegetables were a bit unimaginative.
- berry and marscapone cheese cake – i am not big on dessert but i like a good cheesecake and this was a good cheesecake.

the place is beautifully decorated with a touch of branding here and there. they have a great selection of truly good wine.

this was a pleasant surprise because i heard not so great things about the one in jhb. we had great service and the food was very good. i had the prime rib which was cut a bit thinner than i am used to but it was still very good. my friend had the ostrich fillet and it was also good. the molten lava cake was excellent.

what an incredible fine dining experience and well worth the drive to pretoria for!! first, let me start by mentioning that last night when i booked dinner i had completely forgotten the super rugby games on.. i tried to call and explain to the manager and ask if i could then move our booking to a later time so that my date could watch his game. i was pleasantly suprised when she laughed and advised that they have an intimate little bar/cigar lounge built upstairs with a big tv, where we can first view the rugby and then come downstairs for our dinner! what a win! i sat sipping my strawberry & ginger mojito in bliss and my date happily watched his team win in peace, and then it was dinner time. as we came downstairs, i was hit with the sound of what i thought was a beautiful ella fitzgerald record playing and to my delight, set up in a cozy corner of the restaurant was a live band. they were incredible! soothing jazzy sounds floated all over the restaurant as we were seated by anthony, at our romantic candlelit table and selected a bottle of red wine. from the onset, our waiter anthony made us feel like vips. i love the classic, white interiors and the use of light, as well as the fact that they have tried to create lots of individual 'nooks and crannies'  using walls and art, to provide privacy for tables. lads - a pointer if you are trying to impress: what a romantic date spot!!            now for the food: i ordered six fresh mozambican oysters, served with shallot vinaigrette garlic and red onions and pickled ginger and was not disappointed.  i loved them!
as a main, it was a toss up between their fillet and pan fried norwegian salmon risotto. we ordered both so that we could share. the salmon with creamed horse radish, garlic, onions, arborio rice and white wine, finished with a saffron and parmesan cream sauce and tempura prawns was melt-in-your-mouth. i found the risotto very rich to taste, but a sublime dish and the medium-rare steak, was just as exquisite! i cannot fault presentation, portions or taste on both of these dishes.

dessert should have its own column!  the baked sticky toffee pudding served with homemade ice-cream, a cherry truffle shooter, frangelico stewed fruit and butterscotch sauce! i think that the description speaks for itself and this topped off an incredibly intimate evening of food and enjoyment! the little truffles that arrived with the bill were also such a special touch! signature, brooklyn is truly an experience and one of those places for any special occasion!
