i have been frequenting shaan for a few years and it is my favorite indianrestaurantin cincinnati and is comparable to many indian offerings in larger cities.
the owners are very friendly and greet you, especially if you frequent there. i usually go for the lunch buffet, which offer balanced vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. i have eaten there in the evenings and ordered the entrees.
one of my favorite places to eat in cincinnati...indian or not.

hidden gem. i have driven by this place in hyde park plaza countless times and not even realized that it was a restaurant. upon recommendation from my father-in-law, me, my wife and her mother all went this last friday night. it was not busy, but had a good number of people there. the service was friendly and done well. the food made me happy and delighted. it was sooooo good! i also love the byob aspect, though i felt a little weird bringing in my own bottle of homebrew to arestauranthaving never been to a byob place before. overall i love this place after just one visit. i am sure i will be back again and again.

best service in town. i don't think i have ever seen such genuine and friendly service in arestaurantin this city. yes, the food is really good. the prices are very reasonable. but the service makes it all even better.

it's in a strip mall. get over that and go.

i grabbed dinner there tonight as we do most saturday nights and they were celebrating 4 years in business. i'm thrilled to have them here, as there food has become a weekly tradition in our house and the owner is one of the greatestrestaurantprofessionals in the city. go check them out - you won't be sorry!

best of the best. i got carry out for about the 30th time tonight and have to say, this place rocks! i drive by an oakley indianrestaurantto go to shaan about every other saturday, as the owner is the friendliest man i've ever me in an indian restaurant. they now know me by name and even took my number so they could call me when my favorite dish is on the buffet. give them a try; they won't disappoint.

best customer service. we live in norwood and frequented daata because of their proximity, but daata is now closed. i will defintely drive right past baba on my way to shaan, as it has become our new favorite indian gig. cincy has a ton of great indian food, but what separates shaan is their service (their food is fantastic too). they clearly "get it" as far as our culture goes, unlike the unfriendly service you get elsewhere.

favoriterestaurantin town. this is our go-to comfort food restaurant, period. my husband and i go every other week as our payday date night. the owners know us and always greet us with a smile. we have never received anything less than excellent service here. if you've never tried indian cuisine before, dharminder will make suggestions and help you pick something you like.

my husband goes for one of two dishes each time - he orders either the lamb jogan rosh or the tandoori chicken. his test dish for any indianrestaurantis the tandoori chicken. if the tandoori passes his taste test, then he will check out other dishes. he's tried a few of the other lamb dishes, but he really likes the spice combination used with the lamb rogan josh.

i'm the adventurous one and have tried most of the dishes on the menu. the saag here is my favorite in town, hands down. it's creamy, has a good spinach taste, and the saag choley is a perfect blend of the spinach and chickpea flavors. (i've tried all of the vegetarian saag dishes and can recommend all of them.) another favorite is the bindi masala. it's not your grandmother's okra, and that's why i enjoy it so much. my other veggie favorite is the bhartha. the spices used complement and accentuate the eggplant. as for the meat entrees, i'm partial to the sizzling tandoori offerings. i frequently order the chicken kebabs, but i recently tried the fish tikka and it was wonderful.

as i said in the subject line, this is our favoriterestaurantin town. if i've had a bad day and need comfort food, i point my car in the direction of shaan and know i will not be disappointed in the food or the service. dharminder and rani greet us with smiles and make sure we always leave with a smile on our faces and a bag of food to enjoy the next day.

favorite indian in the city. shaan is my favorite indianrestaurantin a city filled with great indian food. you must go for their lunch buffet. they often have unique items, such as goat, on the buffet line, and always have multiple bread types as well as classics such as masala, saag, vindaloo, and curry. you can't beat the price and the owners could not be nicer people.

friends want baba but i know.... whenever i'm with friends, baba's still the place, but this indianrestaurantis probably better. better food. very friendly staff. i just wish they had a "neighborhood location" or streetside location (shopping centers like hyde park plaza are convenient but geographically schizophrenic and soul/city destroying).

fantastic. this food was delicious and definitely worth the price (which is cheaper than comparative places). we tried it for the first time and were a bit worried when we walked in and there was only one other table, but it was amazing. it might be going to the top of my list as my favorite indian place. they actually give you a larger portion of rice (i've never understood why other places give you this tiny amount), the naan was among the best i've had, and the food was perfectly spiced. we ordered the kandi ginger chicken because i'd never seen it on another indianrestaurantmenu and it was delicious. this place should be packed all the time - although i did notice four different carryout orders so maybe weekdays they tend to do a lot of carry out business? i'll be back.
