the food is just fine.... i like the hospitality.... lunchbuffetis worth the money.... i did not like kadi pakora... nothing great for desserts

my favorite place in town!. i can't say enough good things about this place! i love it, we eat there every single week.buffetis super reasonable and there is always a saag dish on the list. way better than baba india and every bit as good as ambar. plus - no crowds! super friendly owners/waitstaff!

frequent diner card it's so good!. staff are wonderful. owner brought me a to go box filled with my favorites when he noticed i had been coughing during our lunchbuffetand didn't eat much. food is excellent. can't beat the price! $7.99 and 7thbuffetis free.

we went to shaan indian cuisine for my birthday today. the reason i went to this place is because so many people gave it a good review!

shaan indianbuffetwas not good. the foods were not well prepared and there was a lack of variety. the curries flavors tasted off, the foods were all over cooked, some of it almost tasted like it was burned. the samosas were tough and greasy, the potato filling tasted bland and like they had been over cooked and had sat too long.

service was not great either. we will not be going back!

i had thebuffetfor lunch today for 7.99

i liked the saag paneer because it was not runny (as it is on many other indian buffets) and it included many large cubes of paneer. although my experience with saag paneer is somewhat limited, this was probably the bestbuffetversion of this dish i have had to date.

i also liked the very friendly service.

i did not like how all the other sauced dishes were very watery, which also meant they were (to me) less flavorful. it was hard to get a forkful of rice with sauce when the sauce didn't stick much to the rice due to the thin-ness.

the better-run buffets in my experience will give you a fresh naan on request and not charge extra for it in (i believe) recognition of the fact that naan does not hold up well in abuffetwarming pan. i ordered a fresh naan and was charged 3 dollars extra for it. in fairness, i did not ask if there'd be an extra charge, and i paid without comment or complaint; but i think this lowers the value thisbuffetpresents considerably compared to many other otherwise similar buffets in the area.

incredible spinach dishes & more. i have never had a better saag dish than those i have enjoyed at shaan. cincinnati is fortunate to have so many wonderful places to eat indian cuisine and shaan is one of the best in the city. the staff is great and treats everyone like family. they generally have a balanced selection of vegetarian and meat dishes available for their affordable lunch buffet. if i had to make any kind of complaint whatsoever, it would be the inconsistency of the papadam they have on thebuffetfrom monday - thursday. sometimes they are perfect, sometimes they are burnt or chewy. everything else is great!

best indian food in cincy!. we've tried a couple indian restaurants in cincy. shaans food in our opinion is best. the saag lamb, pulled chicken curry ( ma...tika ...curry?), lamb vindaloo, and the garlic or onion naan are what we like most. i honestly cant go 3 weeks without my favorite foods from shaan! they have a lunchbuffetas well. its good, but not as good as dinner. still well worth going. i don't think ive ever seen lamb on the buffet. there is a decent selection and they always have something for the vegetarians as well. typically my favorite things aren't on the buffet, however its still worth going and trying something different. also, this is a byob restaurant. they will happily bring you glasses for your beverage. shaan is family owned and service is usually pretty friendly. the man who is there more often than anyone is very friendly and always recognizes people who have been there before. all in all its great food for a reasonable price.

one of the better buffets. tucked into the hyde park plaza, in the strip mall is this little gem. definitely one of our favorites. never too crowded, but it seems like the staff know the people, so they have a lot of returning customers. theirbuffetalways seems fresh and well stocked. it's a great way to find out what indian dishes you like. they are very friendly as well.

fantastic lunch buffett. as a self pronouncedbuffetconnoisseur, i've made my rounds to pretty much every indianbuffetin the city. what i had today though was clearly the best thus far. the selection was the largest (most indian buffets have few options), they had a semi-spicy chicken vindeloo (rare to find any spice in a buffet), and tender and moist tandoori chicken (most is dry). i will be back here again and highly suggest everyone looking for a better indian option to check this place out as well.

sub-par service and an impolite owner. i don't much care for indian food, but as far as it goes the food at this place is decent. however, the service has consistently been, cold, uninviting, and downright inappropriate. at first things were subtle enough to ignore: an inattentive waiter here, or a dirty look over a reduced tip during thebuffet(it's a buffet!). but things got much worse one crowded night when we were essentially ignored for ten minutes while two empty tables sat unused. we left and went to baba's instead, which sat us as soon as a booth opened up.

tonight we decided for whatever reason to give shaan another chance. huge mistake. dinner was fine enough, but afterwards the owner awkwardly asked my girlfriend what name she went by, as she had written a review about our previous experience. on top of that when taking the bill he said thank you sir even though it was clear she was paying. this was highly inappropriate and completely unprofessional, not to mention chauvinistic. rather than redeeming his restaurant, the owner's impolite behavior has ensured we will never be eating there again.

one last thing during dinner my girlfriend noticed that her chicken tikka massala tasted just a bit off... based on the owner's behavior i don't want to know what the special ingredient was. avoid this place at all costs. go to dusmesh instead. great service and better food!

the best indian food in cincinnati. this is definitely my favorite indian food restaurant in the city. i eat here regularly and the food is outstanding and the service is always so warm and friendly. the owners make it a great experience every time. the lunchbuffetis awesome and the prices are also very good.....a great value. try it!

good food at a really great value. we try to get over here once every couple weeks and we've eaten at thebuffetprobably 4 or 5 times now. we'd go more often but it's a bit of a drive from cheviot. thebuffetis a great value. i'm a vegetarian but my wife isn't. it can be difficult to find places where we both have a lot of (tasty!) options. indian in general is usually a safe bet on that front, and thebuffethere is particularly good. they always have 3-4 vegetarian mains (fairly certain most are not vegan), 3-4 non-veg mains, samosas, pakoras, rice, breads, and a small salad bar. my wife loves their lamb curry and i like everything i've tried.

one word of caution: they go really light on the spiciness. obviously understandable for thebuffet- probably want to play it safe as everyone has a difference tolerance. keep it in mind if you're ordering from the menu, however. first time we came it was an anniversary dinner. i ordered a 3 expecting a decent amount of heat and i barely tasted anything. this is obviously a matter of taste and not a complaint towards the restaurant. just bear in mind that you might want to order higher on the scale if you really want it spicy.

i forgot! the proprietors are super friendly and the service is good. there are a few complaints about poor service in other reviews, but i'm glad to say our experiences have all been positive.

favorite indian in the city. shaan is my favorite indian restaurant in a city filled with great indian food. you must go for their lunch buffet. they often have unique items, such as goat, on thebuffetline, and always have multiple bread types as well as classics such as masala, saag, vindaloo, and curry. you can't beat the price and the owners could not be nicer people.

delicious northern indian cuisine. we ate at shaan today for the first time today and we will definitely be coming back! this is one of the best indian buffets in the cincinnati area. their saag paneer was creamy with a perfect blend of spice the paneer cheese was extremely fresh. they also had chicken vindaloo which you don't find very often on indian buffets and it was outstanding! it was very tangy and had a nice heat level. my son said it almost reminded him of indian style buffalo chicken. they also had a number of other outstanding items on thebuffetincluding choley, punjabi curry , chicken makhani and goat curry! the owner and staff were also very friendly and attentive. i would recommend this restaraunt for anyone craving good northern indian cuisine.

lunch buffet!. the lunchbuffetis up there with new krishna. definitely worth it.

great lunch buffet. if you can make it for the lunch buffet, i highly recommend it. it's as close to the one found at new krishna as far as quality of the items offered. i have yet to get it just as take out, but maybe tonight is the night. friendly staff too.
