myfavoriteplace in town!. i can't say enough good things about this place! i love it, we eat there every single week. buffet is super reasonable and there is always a saag dish on the list. way better than baba india and every bit as good as ambar. plus - no crowds! super friendly owners/waitstaff!

i have been frequenting shaan for a few years and it is myfavoriteindian restaurant in cincinnati and is comparable to many indian offerings in larger cities.
the owners are very friendly and greet you, especially if you frequent there. i usually go for the lunch buffet, which offer balanced vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. i have eaten there in the evenings and ordered the entrees.
one of myfavoriteplaces to eat in cincinnati...indian or not.

best indian food in cincy!. we've tried a couple indian restaurants in cincy. shaans food in our opinion is best. the saag lamb, pulled chicken curry ( ma...tika ...curry?), lamb vindaloo, and the garlic or onion naan are what we like most. i honestly cant go 3 weeks without myfavoritefoods from shaan! they have a lunch buffet as well. its good, but not as good as dinner. still well worth going. i don't think ive ever seen lamb on the buffet. there is a decent selection and they always have something for the vegetarians as well. typically myfavoritethings aren't on the buffet, however its still worth going and trying something different. also, this is a byob restaurant. they will happily bring you glasses for your beverage. shaan is family owned and service is usually pretty friendly. the man who is there more often than anyone is very friendly and always recognizes people who have been there before. all in all its great food for a reasonable price.

love shaan. i love the extensive menu that actually tells you what things are-it makes me less hesitant to drop $10 on a dinner that i may not like. the more gentle level of spices also enables me to try more! shaan's myfavoriteindian place in the city.

i grabbed dinner there tonight as we do most saturday nights and they were celebrating 4 years in business. i'm thrilled to have them here, as there food has become a weekly tradition in our house and the owner is one of the greatest restaurant professionals in the city. go check them out - you won't be sorry!

best of the best. i got carry out for about the 30th time tonight and have to say, this place rocks! i drive by an oakley indian restaurant to go to shaan about every other saturday, as the owner is the friendliest man i've ever me in an indian restaurant. they now know me by name and even took my number so they could call me when myfavoritedish is on the buffet. give them a try; they won't disappoint.

best customer service. we live in norwood and frequented daata because of their proximity, but daata is now closed. i will defintely drive right past baba on my way to shaan, as it has become our newfavoriteindian gig. cincy has a ton of great indian food, but what separates shaan is their service (their food is fantastic too). they clearly "get it" as far as our culture goes, unlike the unfriendly service you get elsewhere.

favorite restaurant in town. this is our go-to comfort food restaurant, period. my husband and i go every other week as our payday date night. the owners know us and always greet us with a smile. we have never received anything less than excellent service here. if you've never tried indian cuisine before, dharminder will make suggestions and help you pick something you like.

my husband goes for one of two dishes each time - he orders either the lamb jogan rosh or the tandoori chicken. his test dish for any indian restaurant is the tandoori chicken. if the tandoori passes his taste test, then he will check out other dishes. he's tried a few of the other lamb dishes, but he really likes the spice combination used with the lamb rogan josh.

i'm the adventurous one and have tried most of the dishes on the menu. the saag here is myfavoritein town, hands down. it's creamy, has a good spinach taste, and the saag choley is a perfect blend of the spinach and chickpea flavors. (i've tried all of the vegetarian saag dishes and can recommend all of them.) anotherfavoriteis the bindi masala. it's not your grandmother's okra, and that's why i enjoy it so much. my other veggiefavoriteis the bhartha. the spices used complement and accentuate the eggplant. as for the meat entrees, i'm partial to the sizzling tandoori offerings. i frequently order the chicken kebabs, but i recently tried the fish tikka and it was wonderful.

as i said in the subject line, this is ourfavoriterestaurant in town. if i've had a bad day and need comfort food, i point my car in the direction of shaan and know i will not be disappointed in the food or the service. dharminder and rani greet us with smiles and make sure we always leave with a smile on our faces and a bag of food to enjoy the next day.

favorite indian in the city. shaan is myfavoriteindian restaurant in a city filled with great indian food. you must go for their lunch buffet. they often have unique items, such as goat, on the buffet line, and always have multiple bread types as well as classics such as masala, saag, vindaloo, and curry. you can't beat the price and the owners could not be nicer people.

pc. ah, indian food. there's probably no one cuisine i crave more. throughout our relationship, it's been my goal to make the better half like indian food. so far, i've been pretty successful. i make tandoori-style chicken at home, and he has actually said to me, "hey, can we get indian today" this is a huge improvement from our early days, when he'd barely walk down ludlow avenue. so now we get to figure out what the best indian in town is- a fun task. shaan india has been recommended to me by several people, particularly @ameetchimote, who swears it's hisfavoritein town (and almost as good as his own indian cooking). high praise. so one sunday, we headed over to oakley to try it out. shaan is in hyde park plaza, on the opposite side from kroger. it's strip-mall chic on the outside, but the inside is comfortable and warm. the owner will greet you at the door

fantastic. this food was delicious and definitely worth the price (which is cheaper than comparative places). we tried it for the first time and were a bit worried when we walked in and there was only one other table, but it was amazing. it might be going to the top of my list as myfavoriteindian place. they actually give you a larger portion of rice (i've never understood why other places give you this tiny amount), the naan was among the best i've had, and the food was perfectly spiced. we ordered the kandi ginger chicken because i'd never seen it on another indian restaurant menu and it was delicious. this place should be packed all the time - although i did notice four different carryout orders so maybe weekdays they tend to do a lot of carry out business? i'll be back.

loved it!. i have recently re-discovered my passion for indian food, and have been happily sampling the various options around cincy. last night i picked up some chicken tikki massala and garlic naan from shaan indian cuisine in hyde park plaza. both were incredibly yummy - perfectly tender chicken and succulently addictive tomato sauce. and, i was very impressed with the friendliness of the owner and the cozy atmosphere. yeah, it's in a strip mall but it still has a nice feel. it was kind of sad to see the place so empty as this is a true gem. much cleaner and friendlier than baba and more generous portions. and shaan's tikki massal blew away a similar dish at cumin (the butter chicken). give them a try...it would be such a shame to let them slip away. definitely myfavoriteso far.

my errand indian buffet. on days that i am in the hyde park/oakley area, i love to have lunch at this buffet. the food is good quality, and myfavoritething about the buffet is there isn't always the same food which means you get a variety every time you go. the staff is always very friendly and attentive. i am never out of water!

highly recommended. i just discovered shaan and it is now myfavoriteindian! we've eaten here at least five times since they've opened and have had a great meal every time. consistently good food with quality ingredients served in a friendly atmosphere. we used to love baba down the street, but shaan has taken it's place, and the owners are friendlier too!!! if you like indian you'll love shaan.
