sea shack

was there 2 years ago & did not disappoint this year. the shack attack is 1 crabcake, 4 scallops, several oysters & 2 tilopia filets, plus 2 sides (choose from salad, fries, coleslaw, mac & cheese, collard greens,etc) written on blackboard plus hushpuppies for $16.95. i got fried & it was all tender & moist. no frills, served on plastic. we are going back this week!

loved it... another local "joint", which we love. ss is the model of efficiency. there was always a seat ready for the party that just ordered. yes, the wait can be long, but i doubt any other place on hhi feeds so many people in the same amount of time. our cashier was very friendly and even took a few seconds to chat. not only do you get a lot of food, but it is good too! the gumbo was flavorful but not overpowering. fried gator was fun and came with a nice dipping sauce. my fish and shrimp was cooked perfectly,
and my husband could only eat half of his fish and chips, there was so much. of course, ss is not for everyone. if you want to be waited on, this is no the place for you. all the better to make the line shorter for me!

best value on the island!. for 4 adults and 2 children under 5 years old, we spent less than $70.00 and had leftovers. the shrimp was better than at old oyster factory, and the hush puppies were almost as good. one of our favorites that we will return to when we come back to hhi.

food was good, atmosphere and southern hospitality in short supply. however, i would go back for the food again.

the food was very good. i found the service good. i'm not sure the food would be worth the 1-2 hour wait outside that many have experienced. we went when they opened for lunch and didn't have to wait long.

sea shack. the food was delicious but their personnel needs to brush up on their people skills. i was a little surprised when my husband asked me to put a few dollars in the tip jar. i always thought tips were given based on good service preferably with a smile.

used to be good. when rachel ray wrote about the sea shack, david young was the exec. chef. check out his book "burnin' down south." david's new restaurant, roast fish & cornbread is at 70 marshland rd. similar menu, but not a shack! rf & cb has been open since november. the word is out... expect a wait.

great seafood....good portions....good price....be prepared to wait atleast 45 mins.

great local experience - awesome food!. one of our friends told us about this place and how it was made famous by rachel ray. it was a blast to have dinner there. we were told to get there early so we are not standing in line forever. we arrived around 4:40 and there was already a line the length of the building. standing in line was like waiting to get on a ride at a theme park. talked to those around us, found out what their favorite menu items were, everyone raving about it.

i got the shack attack combo (fried) with sweet potato cornbread, cole slaw and hush puppies (of course). it was all fantastic. my favorites were the scallops and the crab cakes. the sides were each amazing in their own right. the sweet potato cornbread was like eating dessert with your dinner. some of the best hush puppies i have ever eaten - loved to pieces of corn in them. the homemade cole slaw was excellent - very creamy.

be prepared to have to wait for a table if you are going to eat there. they seat you quickly after you order and your food arrives fast too. pretty tight quarters but that is just because the place is so stinking popular. i am going to try to get over there for lunch just to see what the crowds are like.

a must stop during your visit to hilton head.

good, fast basic sea food. hectic when busy but well worth it for the money. enjoy!!!

great find. the sea shack is off of the main road, where i never would have found it if our friends hadn't told us about it. ******be prepared for a long wait ****** our friends told us ahead of time, so we were ready to wait a little bit. you stand outside for a while ( anywhere from 5 to 45 mins. depending on when you go ) and then they take your order. then you go and find a seat, and wait some more for your food. we had the shrimp po boy which was great. we also had the soft shell crab for 11.99 which was probably the best deal because it was so good ! and the seafood platter ( that isnt the name but it has a whole bunch of different stuff ) and a calamari plate. all of these came with 2 sides and hushpuppies. i would recommend the slaw and the sweet potatoe fries ( 1.00 extra but worth it ).... their sweet tea was also pretty good.very good seafood, worth the wait. this is not a fancy restaurant and i would recommend going for lunch not dinner. open from 11-3 and 5-9

still the best value i've ever found. it's perfectly simple. stopped in the other day and got blackened local wahoo. as i was finishing my meal, i was trying to think if i've ever had a better $13 meal anywhere in the u.s. nope.

good eats! crazy busy!!! you need to be patient....

great value!!. this place has some really good crab cakes and the people are friendly and accommodating :-) i would recommend this place to anyone looking for tasty seafood at a reasonable price!!
