fantastic. bout all i need to say about the shack,it is the bestseafood on the island bar nun,will not visit hilton head without eating at the shack

i have being coming to hilton head island since 2000 and lived in the area for five years now. a co worker had talked about theseashack and said it was amazing. he had heard about it per the rachel ray show. well today i went with my co workers and this restaurant is totally amazing. amazing is putting it mildly. upon entering we were made feel very welcome and we were not rushed at all when looking at the amazing menu posted on the wall when you walk in. i am from dublin, ireland originally and traveled all over the world. i certainly know a greatseafood restaurant. well theseashack is both amazing and great. i had the shrimp bisque and the fish and chips. we also shared the gator bites!!! a must try when you visit. the soup was amazing and honestly brought back memory's to 1980's ireland where i experienced amazingseafood soups. now here is what really made my day. the fish&chips were amazing. i know my fish&chips again from my days in ireland and my travels all over the world. i applaud everyone that is involved in this operation. everyone from the management team, kitchen staff and wait staff were outstanding. i certainly will be returning here very soon. also my co workers had the same experience. theseashack certainly rates five stars and more. very clean, great service, great food and outstanding customer service. well what are you waiting for. a must visit if you are living or visiting the hilton head island, bluffton, beaufort, savannah and charleston area.
looking forward to my next visit and theseashack is now on my list of favorite restaurants.

i heard all the buzz about theseashack. followed the tips on when to come and what to order. so my time finally came as i've been wanting to try this place so badly.
the service was was great. the restaurant itself, well its dumpy. that's not a bad thing, just fits into the category of a "dive"
i was expecting to be blown away, based on the reviews.
the food was good. i finished my entire meal, but it was just good, not great. my wife loved her lobster roll. i should have ordered that as well.
i will still suggest this to others that ask, maybe they will absolutely love it.

friedseafood in a small restaurant with quick service and long lines for lunch and dinner. just take your time and relax, chose your sandwich or plate and enjoy! i had the shrimp poor boy and collards mmmm.

my family and i dined here a few nights ago on a recommendation and it was awesome.  we had been looking for a place like this while on the island for several days and striking out but finally we made it.  we live in nashville and and frequent local meat and three restaurants.  we were looking for the equivalent with seafood and this is it.  the seafood is awesome, the sides were great and they had the best hush puppies we had tried so far.   we took a slice of key lime and a slice of blueberry key lime as well.  the key lime was a perfect finish to a great meal.  i had also eaten at the "lowcountry backyard" as well and there the food was carefully crafted to have a unique flavor that perfectly complements all the ingredients of the plate.  at theseashack the seafood was just  fresh, cooked right, simple, and extremely tasty.  two different restaurants but both ultimately satisfying results.  i tried the key lime at both and preferred that of theseashack, it was the best key lime we had on the island.

we went for our last dinner on vacation at hilton head. i wish we had gone sooner so that we could have eaten there more than once. it was hands down the best seafood i had the whole trip. the food was scrumptious, and it was very reasonably priced, especially compared to other places on the island. the blackened shrimp and tilapia were exquisite and cooked/seasoned perfectly, and the sides were exceptional, although i hear the sides change often, so i may have just gotten lucky. i will go back whenever i visit hilton head again r sure.

the only reason theseashack does not get 5/5 stars is because of the 30 minute wait we had outside. we were told by a local family that 30 minutes is short for the locale, too. i think it is worth the wait, but try to visit between peak meal times.

i'm pretty much over theseashack. yes, the food is good and yes it's inexpensive and yes, it's an experience. however, no food is good enough to offset having to wait in line outside in 95 degree heat with tons of bugs and not the slightest hint of a breeze. plus, the restaurant does not seem clean. like i said ... over it!

why are people standing out in the cold in the middle of february to get a seat?. why would people stand in line for twenty minutes during the coldest night in the middle of the low season? because this small place serves the best seafood you will ever eat in a clean, laid back environment. you will need your gps to find this place because it is virtually hidden in an out of the way back street. you will know you have arrived when you find it difficult to secure a parking place and you have to wait to even get into the place. my advice is to go very early or very late unless you just like to wait for your dinner. the food is excellent as is the service and the price is very reasonable. you will see and experience gullah cooking at its finest. if you are anywhere near hilton head island, you owe it to yourself to checkseashack out.

hype is misleading. we read all the reviews and because of those and the price range, decided to tryseashack during our recent (july 2014) stay on hilton head island. first time we tried was a friday night about 6:00p.m. but the line went out the door and across the parking lot, so we skipped that night. went back the next day for a late lunch (about 1:00p.m.) and got right in. however, from that point on we were rather disappointed. don't get me wrong - all 3 of our dishes were good and they included grilled scallops, fried frog legs, crab cakes and other seafood. but considering the abundance of really great seafood restaurants here and how highlyseashack was rated in online reviews, it was a real let down. a small diner with very few tables all in close quarters, once they seat you the food is served quickly. but no one came by to see if we needed anything else and the food, while good, was by no means superb. of the 4 seafood meals we had on hilton head, this was our least favorite.

not for the ambiance, for the food!. this hole in the wall is just that - a hole in the wall. for the folks who implied a racial element ... my girlfriend and i are of different ethnicities and were treated very well and there was no hint of anything untoward.

the food was really good and fresh, i had mine fried and my girlfriend had hers grilled. the sample platters are piled high with quality freshseafood, both of us did barely touched our sides which incidentally are really good (try the lima beans). the cucumber wasabi dressing was amazing. the seafood being the main attraction was done right - little seasoning was needed as the freshness of the ingredients spoke for themselves.

the key lime pie is out of this world ... it's the real stuff not the green technicolor concoction in every diner. we ordered extra to bring home even though we basically had an extra left over meal each.

you have to know that this place is not high brow it is simply very good seafood for a very fair price.

this restaurant was busy and had a hour long wait while every other place on the island was dead, that kind of gives you an idea of the quality - simply a must try.

loveseashack!. love this place, great sides, great seafood, just everything perfect. its my go-to seafood place on the island. moved to hhi from charleston and was missing my fav places butseashack filled at least a few cravings!

theseashack is eaten at multiple times every year on our vacation. the line is looong (we usually wait at least an hour) but the food is good and reasonably priced.

some people just don't get it!. i've been coming to theseashack for years and today will be my last time. my family and i tried to enter the door and had to stand in the door way due to a group in front of us. all of a sudden a worker yells shut the door! ok i would shut the door if i could i'm thinking. once inside my wife decides to get one of the few remaining tables while the rest of the family waits inline to order. she no sooner sits down and the manager says you can't sit there because there are customers ahead of you. we promptly walked out the door. the manager didn't care at all as a matter a fact he smiled as we left. well i'm smiling now. this is my first ever review. people like this do not deserve to stay in business. i am a business owner myself and you can't treat people like this and get away with it. it doesn't matter how good the food is it's not worth being treated like this.
