sea shack

i have being coming to hilton head island since 2000 and lived in the area for five years now. a co worker had talked about the sea shack and said it was amazing. he had heard about it per the rachel ray show. well today i went with my co workers and this restaurant is totally amazing. amazing is putting it mildly. upon entering we were made feel very welcome and we were not rushed at all when looking at the amazing menu posted on the wall when you walk in. i am from dublin, ireland originally and traveled all over the world. i certainly know a great sea food restaurant. well the sea shack is both amazing and great. i had theshrimpbisque and the fish and chips. we also shared the gator bites!!! a must try when you visit. the soup was amazing and honestly brought back memory's to 1980's ireland where i experienced amazing sea food soups. now here is what really made my day. the fish&chips were amazing. i know my fish&chips again from my days in ireland and my travels all over the world. i applaud everyone that is involved in this operation. everyone from the management team, kitchen staff and wait staff were outstanding. i certainly will be returning here very soon. also my co workers had the same experience. the sea shack certainly rates five stars and more. very clean, great service, great food and outstanding customer service. well what are you waiting for. a must visit if you are living or visiting the hilton head island, bluffton, beaufort, savannah and charleston area.
looking forward to my next visit and the sea shack is now on my list of favorite restaurants.

fried sea food in a small restaurant with quick service and long lines for lunch and dinner. just take your time and relax, chose your sandwich or plate and enjoy! i had theshrimppoor boy and collards mmmm.

got there at 4:50 and waited in line about 50 minutes to get in ... worth the wait ... had friedshrimpand flounder and it was delicious. my husband had fried shrimp, scallops, and oysters. he said it was delicious. best oysters he's had in many years. good old fashioned sweet tea too :)

we went for our last dinner on vacation at hilton head. i wish we had gone sooner so that we could have eaten there more than once. it was hands down the best seafood i had the whole trip. the food was scrumptious, and it was very reasonably priced, especially compared to other places on the island. the blackenedshrimpand tilapia were exquisite and cooked/seasoned perfectly, and the sides were exceptional, although i hear the sides change often, so i may have just gotten lucky. i will go back whenever i visit hilton head again r sure.

the only reason the sea shack does not get 5/5 stars is because of the 30 minute wait we had outside. we were told by a local family that 30 minutes is short for the locale, too. i think it is worth the wait, but try to visit between peak meal times.

amazing seafood.... waited an hour (i think it is normally longer but it was 8:00 and raining so the wait was less). i had the blackenedshrimpand crab cake with cheese grits and a salad. everything was delicious. the crab cake was full of crab not breading. the blackenedshrimpwere really spicy which i liked.

reggies diner meets the soup nazi. i had a greatshrimppo boy on a perfect roll with a few decent sides. it is a bit like seinfeld's soup nazi but if you work through it, you'll have a good meal that is priced well. this place does get too much hype so keep your expectations proper for a small seafood joint and you'll be pleasantly satisfied. two thumbs up

long wait, big disappointment. our dinner wait was an hour. the anticipation built only to be disappointed. the popcornshrimpand fries were not good at all, significantly over cooked! the bright spots were the tilapia and grits. not going back.

the friedshrimpand trigger fish is sooo yummy!!!! can't wait to go back!

great quick lunch. this was recommended to us by a local, and we always know to trust their taste! we weren't disappointed, this no-frills establishment has great food and easy prices. we enjoyed a plate of alligator as an appetizer, and i had a wonderfulshrimpburger with collard greens and delightful hush puppies while my partner enjoyed swordfish and cheese grits. everything was delicious and fresh. there was a line forming when we left, but they seem very efficient and i think the food would be worth the wait.

we always question if the hour + wait is worth it and then we eat 2 lbs of grilledshrimpand the answer is yes! greatshrimpand the sides of cheddar mashed potatoes, black bean chutney and seasoned rice top it off very well. this is must do every year we come

our favorite restaurant on hhi. i got theshrimpburger today. we come here every year.

be warned ... very long wait. everything on my plate was absolutely delicious! i tried the flounder with a crabcake appetizer. both were some of the best i've ate, especially the flounder. my wife tried the catfish and shrimp. catfish was good, but theshrimpwasn't all that. definitely had better shrimp. sweet potato cornbread and hushpuppies takes this place up a few notches for me. awesome!! but be warned, we arrived at 10 til 5. (10 mins before they open) , we still waited an hour and a half!!!! food is very good or some of it is at least. but it's definitely not worth that wait!! i would try next time to arrive 30 mins. before they open, maybe that would shorten my wait to 45 mins!!

food was reasonably priced and very good. the wait is pretty long for dinner so we sent someone ahead to wait for us but the entire party mustbe at the doorwhen you are ready to enter.shrimpwas very fresh and had excellent flavor.

sea shack splendor. my husband and i had lunch at the sea shack during our stay in hilton head. the place was full of locals so we were hopeful upon arrival.

the food didn't disapoint. i had the salmon and crab cake and my husband had the friedshrimppo boy. everything tasted fresh and well seasoned. we will be back!!

good food, but overpriced for the setting.. we tried sea shack this evening. my wife had the friedshrimpappetizer and i had the fried oyster platter. the oysters were excellent and theshrimpwere good, too, if a bit tiny. no complaints there. however, this is an order-at-the counter, plastic plates, outside bathrooms kind of place and i left feeling like i really overpaid. the sweet potato cornbread was very good. the sauteed spinach was overcooked and slimy-limp. the hush puppies were rubbery, not memorable at all. with my wife eating only an appetizer and side salad as her dinner, and my oysters/included sides and two drinks, the check was $27 before tip. hate to sound cheap, but i was scratching my head when we left....how did the bill add up to that? still, the oysters were very good, and that's what i had gone there for.
