no frills, very good beach seafood.. went a couple times and really no wait, but we were off-season.

no frills here. big board inside the door with specials. in the end thefishis the star with the sides being passable but not great. have options of fried, grilled, blackened and sometimes yerk so you can probably find what you want.

worth mentioning the drill, stand in line, place your order, then grab a table inside or out. if you grab a table first, nobody is happy, particularly the people who just placed their orders and looking for a place to sit.

finally, should mention the price. really, count on $10-$15 per sandwich or entree. not cheap, but certainly not expensive for the neighborhood and what you get.

i have being coming to hilton head island since 2000 and lived in the area for five years now. a co worker had talked about the sea shack and said it was amazing. he had heard about it per the rachel ray show. well today i went with my co workers and this restaurant is totally amazing. amazing is putting it mildly. upon entering we were made feel very welcome and we were not rushed at all when looking at the amazing menu posted on the wall when you walk in. i am from dublin, ireland originally and traveled all over the world. i certainly know a great sea food restaurant. well the sea shack is both amazing and great. i had the shrimp bisque and thefishand chips. we also shared the gator bites!!! a must try when you visit. the soup was amazing and honestly brought back memory's to 1980's ireland where i experienced amazing sea food soups. now here is what really made my day. the fish&chips were amazing. i know my fish&chips again from my days in ireland and my travels all over the world. i applaud everyone that is involved in this operation. everyone from the management team, kitchen staff and wait staff were outstanding. i certainly will be returning here very soon. also my co workers had the same experience. the sea shack certainly rates five stars and more. very clean, great service, great food and outstanding customer service. well what are you waiting for. a must visit if you are living or visiting the hilton head island, bluffton, beaufort, savannah and charleston area.
looking forward to my next visit and the sea shack is now on my list of favorite restaurants.

get there way before they open or you’ll be waiting for an hour. the food is worth the wait though. fishand chips was the best ever! the menu isn’t up to date on this site and the prices are higher. the shark attack was great too. pass on their deserts.

this place was awful! we went there for supper on our last night of vacation. there was a line out the door so it seemed like it was going to be good. no! the food was completely bland, not even salted! thefishtasted so fishy and the bread was rock hard. the hush puppies were also flavorless and so was the mac and cheese. i do not waste food, it is too expensive to do that , but i have five meals headed for the trash as soon as we make it back home. i am so frustrated at wasting $42 that i have already emailed the company asking for a refund. i do not think it is ok to serve such terrible food just because it's the end of the night and you are tired and ready to go home.

as i read other reviews i was a bit nervous. i went to check it out anyway and yes, this is a shack. in my opinion the food was priced well for lunch and was good. we orderedfishand chips. thefishwas ok. it was southern fried not beer battered as i expected. the hush puppies are to die for, cole slaw was delious, french fries not so much. overall, food and service was good and worth the trip. we rate them 7 out of 10.

definitely a shack, but seafood is delish. why i love: fantastic blackened anything, lots of chaulkboard "of the day"fishoptions, a wider variety of sides besides just slaw and fries, and gator sauce (a remoulade-ish delight that i love to put on the fantastic blackened anything). they know what they're doing when it comes to fresh sweet tea. it's true -- they have a system (by necessity) and they aren't afraid to tell you about it which can seem kind of rude if you don't expect it. it's not cheap and they don't serve beer or alcohol, but we never miss going at least once per trip. a hh fave!

horrible!!!!!! not worth the wait! wait staff is rude!fishwas awful. fries were waxy and bland. hot tarter sauce was gross. it should be cold. i will never come back or recommend!

good if a little bit expensive. we've eaten here twice in the last couple of days -- both times impressed by thefish(especially blackened) and the hush puppies. yum!! today i had gene's special which included 3 filets of fish, two sides, and 3 hush puppies. with a drink it was over $18.00. would eat here again but try something a little cheaper.

food quality = price. reading the hype here, we tried sea shack on our first visit to hilton head. the food is reasonably priced and the food is reasonably good. it's not outstanding...it's just reasonably good. the best item we ordered:fishand chips.fishwas flavorful, tender inside, crispy outside. crabcakes were flat, no flavor, no lump meat. popcorn shrimp was spicy coating, but the shrimp tasted like the tiny canned shrimp you buy at the store. sides: mac&cheese was not very cheesy, just ok. fries were ok. coleslaw was chucky chopped and too much liquid. perfer it finely chopped and not soupy. overall, we didn't spend a lot, and i think we got what we paid for.

excellent food. blackened combo is better than grilled, fried is so-so.fishand chips are out if this world. fresh and succulent. service is nonexistent pretty much by design. but really, with food like that, who cares?

2 things missing now. the fella that owned the place during it's boom was named gary. the cook was a guy named david. both of them have gone on to other businesses leaving seashack 2 pretty pennies short. if you want overpriced (i say that because this place is, even though it's fairly cheap), eat here. better option: bkfishfrom burger king

attack of the shack. well, i wanted to try this place before i left the island. i went thursday night and the line was fifty feet long out the door. we decided to return friday morning at 11am when the doors opened for lunch. we were the first in, and the place filled up behind us within minutes. if you're looking for atmosphere, excellent service, fine dining...do not come here! if you're looking for delicious food at a great price..come here! i ordered the shack attack, and got it fried. it came with a crabcake(fantastic), 3 lightly battered jumbo shrimp(magnifico), 3 large scallops(good), 3 battered oysters(best i've had), and onefishfillet(flavorful). slaw and rice on the side, which were both good. hushpuppies, i could eat 100 of these things, some of the best i've ever had! all this for $14.95 at lunch, this would probably cost you $20-$25 anywhere else on the island. this many people can't be wrong!

far & away the best seafood on hilton head. i've never had anything fried there, so can't speak to that complaint on here, nor have i ever had anything close to rude service. they are efficient because they're busy, but i loathe restaurant people who want to befriend me, anyway, so i like just having my order taken, then brought to me. and thefishis fresh & fantastic, the sides are authentic southern dishes, and the tea & hush puppies are perfection. there are a dozen other restaurants for you on hhi if you want fawning "family friendly" service & bland, even previously frozen food. and, yes, roastfish& cornbread is good too, though not to the exclusion of sea shack.
