got there at 4:50 and waited in line about 50 minutes to get in ... worth the wait ... hadfriedshrimp and flounder and it was delicious. my husband hadfriedshrimp, scallops, and oysters. he said it was delicious. best oysters he's had in many years. good old fashioned sweet tea too :)

it was every bit as good as all reviews say!!! love, love, loved the crab cake,friedtilapia and calamari!!! when they say come early, it's no joke. we arrived 5 minutes before they opened and was an hour back the line the wound thru the parking lot.

not your typical restaurant. i love this place. a lot of people are saying that the service was bad and the place was dingy, but does that really matter when the food is incredible? i sat right next to the counter and heard people ordering. the employees treat you the way you treat them; meaning that if you are a jerk to them, they will give it right back to you. my boyfriend and i had an excellent experience here and will come back time and time again. by far, the bestfriedseafood i have ever had.

hype is misleading. we read all the reviews and because of those and the price range, decided to try sea shack during our recent (july 2014) stay on hilton head island. first time we tried was a friday night about 6:00p.m. but the line went out the door and across the parking lot, so we skipped that night. went back the next day for a late lunch (about 1:00p.m.) and got right in. however, from that point on we were rather disappointed. don't get me wrong - all 3 of our dishes were good and they included grilled scallops,friedfrog legs, crab cakes and other seafood. but considering the abundance of really great seafood restaurants here and how highly sea shack was rated in online reviews, it was a real let down. a small diner with very few tables all in close quarters, once they seat you the food is served quickly. but no one came by to see if we needed anything else and the food, while good, was by no means superb. of the 4 seafood meals we had on hilton head, this was our least favorite.

as i read other reviews i was a bit nervous. i went to check it out anyway and yes, this is a shack. in my opinion the food was priced well for lunch and was good. we ordered fish and chips. the fish was ok. it was southernfriednot beer battered as i expected. the hush puppies are to die for, cole slaw was delious, french fries not so much. overall, food and service was good and worth the trip. we rate them 7 out of 10.

not for the ambiance, for the food!. this hole in the wall is just that - a hole in the wall. for the folks who implied a racial element ... my girlfriend and i are of different ethnicities and were treated very well and there was no hint of anything untoward.

the food was really good and fresh, i had minefriedand my girlfriend had hers grilled. the sample platters are piled high with quality fresh sea food, both of us did barely touched our sides which incidentally are really good (try the lima beans). the cucumber wasabi dressing was amazing. the seafood being the main attraction was done right - little seasoning was needed as the freshness of the ingredients spoke for themselves.

the key lime pie is out of this world ... it's the real stuff not the green technicolor concoction in every diner. we ordered extra to bring home even though we basically had an extra left over meal each.

you have to know that this place is not high brow it is simply very good seafood for a very fair price.

this restaurant was busy and had a hour long wait while every other place on the island was dead, that kind of gives you an idea of the quality - simply a must try.

good southernfriedfish..only thing that wasn't good was the wait..but that is a testament to the need for more good reasonably priced seafood restaurants on this island..great seasoning in the not too heavy breading..

sea shack splendor. my husband and i had lunch at the sea shack during our stay in hilton head. the place was full of locals so we were hopeful upon arrival.

the food didn't disapoint. i had the salmon and crab cake and my husband had thefriedshrimp po boy. everything tasted fresh and well seasoned. we will be back!!

good food, but overpriced for the setting.. we tried sea shack this evening. my wife had thefriedshrimp appetizer and i had thefriedoyster platter. the oysters were excellent and the shrimp were good, too, if a bit tiny. no complaints there. however, this is an order-at-the counter, plastic plates, outside bathrooms kind of place and i left feeling like i really overpaid. the sweet potato cornbread was very good. the sauteed spinach was overcooked and slimy-limp. the hush puppies were rubbery, not memorable at all. with my wife eating only an appetizer and side salad as her dinner, and my oysters/included sides and two drinks, the check was $27 before tip. hate to sound cheap, but i was scratching my head when we left....how did the bill add up to that? still, the oysters were very good, and that's what i had gone there for.

what this place lacks in atmosphere it makes up for in taste! in fact, their slogan is "not fancy, just good." i hadfriedshrimp & scallops!

it was pretty good. pretty typicalfriedseafood in my opinion. after some of the hype of the reviews, i was expecting more. the food was tasty though, and the atmosphere very laid back and casual. not sure it was worth our 30 minute wait in line, though.

not fancy, just good food!. read many reviews online and decided to go with the sea shack. once we found it and hopped in line it was about a 30-40 minute wait. i had the grilled scallops/shrimp combo plate with a small salad and okra and stewed tomatoes. it was absolutely delicious. the scallops were very tender and perfectly cooked, no grit at all. the shrimp was also good but the scallops definitely overshadowed them. you cannot choose multiple preparation methods so it's either all fried, all grilled, or all blackened. my mom really liked herfriedclams and said the calamari was nice and tender. this place is not fancy and if you want table service don't eat here but if you just want some good seafood at an affordable price served on a paper plate then try the sea shake!
