savoy...uh no!. this night out had the potential to be pleasant and was wrecked by our trip to savoy. all started out well with our party of 5 celebrating a couple occasions. initially theservicewas alright, the atmosphere a bit pretentious but acceptable. i won't speak for those eating the other meals other than to say the reviews were mixed, however, i will speak to mine. i ordered the beef two ways, a cube of filet and sliced brisket with mushrooms. the portion size was on the small end for the price but not terrible. the brisket was done quite well and actually very good, not so with the filet. the tiny (1.25") cube of filet was cooked to the proper state and looked nice, albeit small, and when i took my fork to it there was a 1/2" slab of fat all the way down the side of it! disgusting! for a $35 plate this should be excellent and it's not even close. thouroughly dissappointed with my meal, i decided to step outside and have a smoke. mind you, i'm the one picking up the tab for this evening. after 5 minutes outside having a smoke while waiting for another round of cocktails, i open the door only to have a "security" guy come running to stop me! i was then told in a very unpleasant tone that i wasn't allowed in the restaurant because my shoes don't meet thier dress code! it was fine an hour ago.....but now i am no longer an acceptable customer! i explained tersly that i was in the middle of my dinner already and was finally allowed to reenter. upon be permitted to return to my table i took a look around at some of the other guests...one gentleman dressed in a jogging suit and sneakers, another in designer jeans and chuck taylor sneakers. this sealed the deal for me. i purposly didn't make an issue at that moment as the night was to be celebrating events for two others in our party but i can tell you this: i will never set foot in this place again! the food was mediocre, theservicewas slow and i nearly got thrown out before i paid the $250 bill!

6 stars!. if you are looking for a perfect night out with your girlfriends or that special guy in your life savoy located in the strip district of pittsburgh is the place. my best friends and i had an amazing dinner filled with great cuisine, cocktails, and chit chat. we received all star treatment from the moment that we pulled up to the door. from the complimentary valetserviceto the professional photographer we felt like we were at an awards show in hollywood.
the friendly and attentive staff was the perfect piece to complete the puzzle and added to what was a great experience.
if you loved to great all dolled up and treat yourself from time to time then savoy will be you cup of tea. we had such a memorable experience that we forgot that we were in pittsburgh for a moment. it was a great get a way for the night without having to get away. we are already planning a day for our next visit!

love it!!!!!. i have anticipated the opening of savoy for a long time and can say that it was worth the wait. the food was delicious, and there were enough people in my party that we order almost everything on the menu. theservicewas great and with a party as large as mine, they handle the demand very well. i also had a chacne to tour the restaurant with one of the "men in black" (classy uniforms too) and i can honestly say that no detail was too small for the ownership of this place. the wine lockers and the vip rooms downstairs are "off the hook". i did have an opportunity to let the gentelman giving us the tour know that i thought the cocktails were overpriced, and he assured me that he would discuss that with management (i believed him) and they (management) bought us a round on the house (cant beat that). the crowd upstairs was sexy and the dj was really good...my favorite was the patio, with a fully stocked bar! i will go back as often as i can even if it's just for happy hour or the night time cocktail parties in the lounge upstairs. thank you savoy!

service excellence. being from the south, i carry high standards for any type of soul food. when we came here we were planning on being disappointed but were surprised. between theserviceand the food, we felt like we stepped out of pittsburgh and tripped into mississippi. the hospitality andservicewas great. the food made me wonder if my mom was in the kitchen. the restaurant attitude was exciting and upbeat. whoever created this establishment knocked it out of the park. i had the shrimp and grits and was thinking about ordering one to go for lunch the next day. my wife had the crab cakes and loved them. i've never seen her so quiet in my life. i now know where i will be bringing her to end an argument. i strongly suggest trying out savoy.

my wife and i celebrated our anniversary dinner at savoy recently, and we loved the place! initially, when we booked the reservation, the general manager (tom) took the reservation over the phone, and he was interested in us and took the time to ask questions about his new customers. upon arrival, i appreciated the free parking lot. as we entered savoy, the décor appeared attractive and the greetings we received from the staff were very friendly. the restaurant was pleasantly full for a weekday supper, and we were led to a nice table in the back of the dining room. my wife was glad that she had her wrap with her, as it was a little chilly in the restaurant, but on a hot summer's night, that felt comfortable to me. our wine was very good, especially the red blend ( i wish i could remember the name). my filet mignon was one of the biggest and best i ever had, done perfectly, and my wife's crab cakes were also delicious! we noticed gm tom in action that evening, he offering to take our photo when he saw me attempting a "selfie". the entireservicestaff worked well together, but i have to offer one more compliment to tom the gm. he's definitely a "lead by example" manager, as no task seemed beneath him, including delivering food and scraping the crumbs off of tables in support of his team. well done savoy...we'll be back!

a meal & night to remember. i am not sure where to begin. after reading many reviews prior to our visit, i must say there was some trepidation as to what our evening was going to be like. many saidservicewas slow, or poor & that it was a pretentious, stuffy & overpriced restaurant. i am truly dumbfounded as to how anyone could feel this way.
i can truly & honestly say this was one of the "best" dining & most memorable restaurant experiences we have ever had.
i know i have not traveled as often & as diversely as some foodies or other reviewers. i have however searched high & low for culinary uniqueness in places such as, france, austria, ireland, mexico, san francisco, new york, boston, & new orleans just to name a few.
what savoy offers in culinary & cultural diversity is unfounded in many of the above mentioned places i have been including pittsburgh. however what made our evening so special & why you should go to savoy is the people.
it has been said "you can easily judge the character of a man(or woman) by how he treats those who can do nothing for him". savoy & its staff that served us are the epitome of that. specifically our waitress (carly), manager (tom) & the executive chef mr. kevin watson are truly awesome people that enjoy serving others.
very few times if ever have i left a restaurant feeling as we did, connected to or a genuine bond of friendship formed with someone whom we never met previously.
why you might ask, it really all started with carly our awesome waitress. after ordering our first bottle of wine carly admitted that she was fairly new to the restaurant. as she was attempting to uncork our first bottle of wine it was giving her a difficult time. now instead of creating an uncomfortable moment as many customers may have felt carly's charming personality allowed us to begin our unforgettable evening of laughter & fun. so much so, that tom the manager & kevin the chef stopped to see why our table was having such a good time.
now in most restaurants of this stature having the manager & chef stop briefly to inquire of how the meal orservicewas is fairly standard. but that is where savoy is different. not only did they stop once, but the chef kevin sat with our table for at least 10-15 minutes and engaged not in small talk but as if a friend that you have known for many years. then he proceeded to the kitchen & returned with a tray of delightful salted caramels for us to enjoy. (not on the menu might i add) after this he then gave us a tour of the private room downstairs, the lounge area upstairs & the balcony outside. along the way stopping & introducing us to others including mr. bettis (jerome's brother) as if he had known us for years or as if we were vip's.

so in summary, although we primarily visited savoy because we purchased a groupon, the food was incredible (tilapia tacos, lamb chops :), stuffed salmon etc..), and wine wednesday was great ($20 bottles), but would "strongly" recommend this restaurant & return ourselves because of the people. try it, you won't be disappointed.

this place is ridiculous. you'd think you were in some vegas night club. there's a door to an office upstairs in the lounge. theres alway like 3 guys in suits guarding the door, even of the place is empty. it's like the secretserviceor something. way too expensive! $12 for a vodka soda... i'll fine dine elsewhere from now on.

good groupon deal. we went here with our groupon. the food was excellent & theservicewas great too. it was a fantastic groupon deal, but i don't think i would pay $100 for my meal which would have been my regular price even though it was good unless maybe it was a very special occasion. the atmosphere and tables were very cool too, overall great experience.

great experience. my wife and i went out on a friday night and really enjoyed our experience. this is an elegant fine dining restaurant. my wife got the butter poached lobster & scallop pasta that she loved. i got the 14 oz n.y. strip steak that had really nice mushroom glaze. loved it! they also provide purified bottled water with "savoy" on the side of the bottle that was a nice touch along with oil and bread. the place reminded me of a smaller version of a vegas restaurant because everything from the floor, bar, tables and chairs were white. it was one the better meals that i have ever had. the food was excellent and the valet, tableserviceand staff were on the ball. we even saw a pittsburgh steeler on our way out.

my husband and i took my sister to the savoy for a birthday brunch on sunday september 4, 2011 it was raining and one of the gentleman who worked at the restaurant provided an umbrella and walked us in,so we wouldn't get wet, the restaurant is very lovely, theservicewas great . what a pleasure to meet the chef . the omelet i ordered along with my meal was cooked to perfection. our waiter jarrett could not have been nicer, my sister ordered dessert and it arrived with happy birthday written on the plate with chocolate syrup, after dessert jarrett took me and my sister for a tour of the restaurant . my husband and i plan to go to the savoy for dinner and we will certainly let everyone we know about this great new restaurant in town. we wish you luck

horrible customer service. i had planned a girls night out on july 15 2011 for my friends and clients. i made two reservations one for 8:00 for six and i reserved the lounge for 9:00 for a party of 40,we were supposed to have dinner but the transformer in the kitchen blew. i know things happen and that was beyond your control, but , i made reservation and no one called to inform me that the kitchen was closed for the night. i thought the reason for making reservations was if something happened you could call and cancel or give a person some options 'no one called.' the bestservicewe recieved that night was from the valet drivers, the savoy rest. was a bust i don't know if we or maybe i should say i will ever patronize the savoy again, because their customerservicesucks!!!!!!!!!!!
