not worth the money!!!. this place did not even come close to living up to all the hype. it was very disappointing, the food wasgoodbut so overpriced. there is a dress code for men but it seemed as though the women could wear - well let's just say whatever. the decor was tacky and lighting was awful.

my experience.... i can't vote whether i actually 'like or don't like' the establishment just yet because i didn't eat there. so i'm not sure it would be a fair review. but i will give my opinion regarding the atmosphere on a weekend night. when you first walk in, the lighting is very bright. a little too much for my liking. but the setting is really nice... everything is black/white and very clean. the place as a whole came across as a little tacky. all the way from the way people were dressed to the local magazine advertising spread all across the bar. i definitely also saw some gold chains with shirts unbuttoned to mid-chest and butt baring skirts. there was agoodmix of age, mostly young professionals 26-40, no college students and a few older people. the upstairs was a little better. i like the outside patio with heat lamps and the music inside was pretty decent. there's a little bit of room to dance, but don't expect a full blown dance floor. also, the drinks were very expensive. i ordered from the waitress either the house cab or merlot and i shelled out $15. they weren't generous with the pour either. this establishment might be attractive for some, but it wasn't really my style. i went with about 8 other girls and we kind of all felt the same way - - a bit tacky.

beware of restaurant manager. i'm not from pittsburgh and neither was 4 others in our party of 8! the restaurant itself is nice the food was prettygoodbut i will never go back to eat there because of the rude ass manager that was working the night of 4/4/15. i guess he had an attitude with our party because some of our guest arrived late for our reservation but they would not seat us until the entire reservation party arrived. i think his attitude was very unprofessional he greeted everyone in the restaurant but us the entire night we watched him go to every table but he went out of his way to not come to the two tables we were sitting at. this is why i usually don't spend my money in black establishments because this is how your treated by your own race...... needless to say we paid his paycheck that night because with a party of 8 we spent $$$$ when we dined there! it didn't matter that 6 of us were traveling in from philly only to check out this establishment.

very beautiful and unpittsburgh like decor. my only complaint was the glaring neon lights that alternate colors. the green was horrible and not complimentary to the food or the atmosphere. food wasgoodbut a little overpriced for what is was.

not asgoodas my first time. i started with the perfect pair martini, which is quite delicious. i had the pear and gorgonzola salad, the waiter and the kitchen were happy accommodate my pecan allergy. i was disappointed that most of the greens were romaine, i was hoping for darker greens, but overall the salad was delicious! for my entree i went for the bbq shrimp and grits - which is gluten free! the waiter properly coursed our meal, making sure our appetizer plates and drink orders were taken before the entrees came out. everything about my entree was bland. the grits were soupy and missing some seasoning. there were five small shrimp on top that were practically drowning in the grits. i told the waiter that the dish was bland and he assured me that that is how it's supposed to taste, and he could bring me more bbq sauce for the shrimp. he also offered to bring sugar to put in the grits, saying that some people like it that way. i opted for the bbq sauce. it helped with the shrimp, but i left 95% of my grits in the bowl. i was happy to see that two of their desserts are also offered gluten free- the cinnamon roll bread pudding and the brownie sundae. i had a dirty martini for dessert instead, the menu boasted bleu-cheese stuffed olives. it arrived with pimentos, actually only two of the three olives had pimentos. i asked the waiter about it and he explained that it is not a popular cocktail and the cheese stuffed olives were constantly going bad, and that i must have had an old menu. although i was disappointed, i totally understand the reasoning, just not why they have not updated the menu. to my complete shock and surprise i was not comped anything on my bill! the waiter was aware of the issues during my visit, which i brought to his attention in extremely polite fashion, and did not offer any type of compensation. the martinis are expensive, but worth it, considering you get top shelf alcohol and very large pours (filled to the top!). my last visit was amazing, i'm hoping last night was just a fluke and a clueless server.

a meal & night to remember. i am not sure where to begin. after reading many reviews prior to our visit, i must say there was some trepidation as to what our evening was going to be like. many said service was slow, or poor & that it was a pretentious, stuffy & overpriced restaurant. i am truly dumbfounded as to how anyone could feel this way.
i can truly & honestly say this was one of the "best" dining & most memorable restaurant experiences we have ever had.
i know i have not traveled as often & as diversely as some foodies or other reviewers. i have however searched high & low for culinary uniqueness in places such as, france, austria, ireland, mexico, san francisco, new york, boston, & new orleans just to name a few.
what savoy offers in culinary & cultural diversity is unfounded in many of the above mentioned places i have been including pittsburgh. however what made our evening so special & why you should go to savoy is the people.
it has been said "you can easily judge the character of a man(or woman) by how he treats those who can do nothing for him". savoy & its staff that served us are the epitome of that. specifically our waitress (carly), manager (tom) & the executive chef mr. kevin watson are truly awesome people that enjoy serving others.
very few times if ever have i left a restaurant feeling as we did, connected to or a genuine bond of friendship formed with someone whom we never met previously.
why you might ask, it really all started with carly our awesome waitress. after ordering our first bottle of wine carly admitted that she was fairly new to the restaurant. as she was attempting to uncork our first bottle of wine it was giving her a difficult time. now instead of creating an uncomfortable moment as many customers may have felt carly's charming personality allowed us to begin our unforgettable evening of laughter & fun. so much so, that tom the manager & kevin the chef stopped to see why our table was having such agoodtime.
now in most restaurants of this stature having the manager & chef stop briefly to inquire of how the meal or service was is fairly standard. but that is where savoy is different. not only did they stop once, but the chef kevin sat with our table for at least 10-15 minutes and engaged not in small talk but as if a friend that you have known for many years. then he proceeded to the kitchen & returned with a tray of delightful salted caramels for us to enjoy. (not on the menu might i add) after this he then gave us a tour of the private room downstairs, the lounge area upstairs & the balcony outside. along the way stopping & introducing us to others including mr. bettis (jerome's brother) as if he had known us for years or as if we were vip's.

so in summary, although we primarily visited savoy because we purchased a groupon, the food was incredible (tilapia tacos, lamb chops :), stuffed salmon etc..), and wine wednesday was great ($20 bottles), but would "strongly" recommend this restaurant & return ourselves because of the people. try it, you won't be disappointed.

you couldn't pay me to go back here..... horrible experience - will never go back!!! we made reservations on a thursday evening at 7:30, we arrived 15 minutes early and were not seated until 8:15pm!! it only fueled our frustration to see couples and groups that came in long after us be seated before us. even after the manager promised to 'take care of us' after waiting for an hour for our reservation, we received very slow service. we had to specially request to have bread at our table. the valet outside and the bus boy were the nicest people we encountered at this overpriced restaurant!! do yourself a favor and skip this one - many othergoodrestaurants in pittsburgh that actually appreciate your business.

good groupon deal. we went here with our groupon. the food was excellent & the service was great too. it was a fantastic groupon deal, but i don't think i would pay $100 for my meal which would have been my regular price even though it wasgoodunless maybe it was a very special occasion. the atmosphere and tables were very cool too, overall great experience.

best appetizer?. my girlfriend and i went to savoy last night for some "fine" dining. the place is beautiful, 5/5, but the food was not. first, our drinks although moderately priced were about asgoodas what you could get at a college bar in oakland. next, we tried pittsburgh's #1 appetizer, the chicken satays...i don't know who voted or who was cooking last night but the satays tasted like chicken dipped in heavy cream. no flavor whatsoever. next i had the pork 3 way, once again the shoulder was bland, the ribs were ok, but the tenderloin with the apples was very good. my girlfriend had the lobster and scallop pasta which she was very pleased with. after dinner, we hoped that the desert would salvage this trip but to our dismay it did not. the chocolate peppermint patty with raspberry sauce tasted like a cake right out the freezer box. thankfully the tablespoon of sorbet cleansed the palate. if it wasn't for the groupon that we purchased, i would have been extremely displeased with the amount of money that it would have cost for a mediocre meal. if i ever go back, maybe i'll try the $25 dollar chicken and waffles.

nice decor, reasonable food. i went to this restaurant last night with a dining partner. we got there at 8 pm on a thursday night and the restaurantt was fairly empty but as the night went on it started to fill up. the decor is very aesthetically pleasing and the whole restaurant much brighter than you would think from the outside. the feel inside was much like that of a trendy vegas restaurant with dance music playing loud enough to drown out background noises but not so loud as to not be able to hear your waiter/waitress or others at your table.

we started off with the calamari and shrimp appetizer. the appetizer was quite large and came with a side of a flavored horseradish sauce. the breading on the shrimp and calamari wasgoodand the shrimp reasonably sized. my only complaint with it being that the larger calamari were actually cooked too long and were a bit burnt making them very rubbery. othereise it was a solid appetizer. dinner for me was the butter poached lobster and scallops with papperdale pasta. the dish appeared deceivingly small whenever it came but actually contained quite a bit of food. the pasta was fresh and the cream sauce rich. there was also a lot of lobster in the dish with at least both claws, the tail and some other sizable pieces. overall it had agoodflavor. my dining partner ordered the crab cakes and the two crab crakes that came out were large and displayed beautifully. i took a taste of one and it had great flavor with enough citrus to make it delightful. with all of the food that we ate for dinner, we ended up being too stuffed for dessert which was a shame since they had a few items that sounded good.

the bottom line for me is that the food wasgoodalthough pricey, but you get what you paid for. overall it was a pleasant experience and i am happy that i tried savoy but i do not think that i would go back as there are better restaurants in pittsburgh with a better price point.

really enjoyed it!. we had a groupon certificate and decided to try savoy on a saturday. reservations were easy to make via their website and someone called a day ahead to confirm. when we arrived, the valet was courteous and professional. we were seated in the bar area which was fairly small. i felt that the banquette seating was too close to the party next to you, and the dinging from the front door opening was annoying. however, we were promptly greeted by our server and felt welcomed. the appetizer was a 3.5/5 because i am extremely picky about crabcakes and didnt like the crusty, breaded outside. dinner was a 4/5 because my filet was great in the middle but too tough on the outside and the potatoes were not as hot as i wouldve liked. the desserts were delicious and very well presented. we were greeted at our table not only by the manager but the executive chef as well. we checked out the lounge but didnt order drinks. it was agoodexperience overall.
