huge disappointment. as a professional living in pittsburgh i was excited at the prospect of a new upscale restaurant where i could hang out with other professionals that enjoy the finer things. from the time i pulled up i was disappointed. instead of sophistication i was greeted with cheese. what is with the red carpet??? do these people really think they are celebraties? when i walked inside i was expecting to see refined diners and well dressed patrons. what i saw wasn't even close to this. the girls were dressed in polyester dresses from h&m far from the gucci and prada image they are trying to portray. a girlfriend of mine told me she has a friend that works as a model in pittsburgh and savoy actually hires models from an her agency to come in and eat pretending they are paying customers. and worse yet they only hire a certain "look" to attract a "white" crowd. how pathetic is that??? the decor and lighting is terrible, everything is so overdesigned, they are just trying way to hard.

savoy...uh no!. this night out had the potential to be pleasant and was wrecked by our trip to savoy. all started out well with our party of 5 celebrating a couple occasions. initially the service was alright, the atmosphere a bit pretentious but acceptable. i won't speak for those eating the other meals other than to say the reviews were mixed, however, i will speak to mine. i ordered the beef two ways, a cube of filet and sliced brisket with mushrooms. the portion size was on the small end for the price but not terrible. the brisket was done quite well and actually very good, not so with the filet. the tiny (1.25") cube of filet was cooked to the proper state and looked nice, albeit small, and when i took my fork to it there was a 1/2" slab of fat all the way down the side of it! disgusting! for a $35 plate this should be excellent and it's not even close. thouroughly dissappointed with my meal, i decided to step outside and have a smoke. mind you, i'm the one picking up the tab for this evening. after 5 minutes outside having a smoke while waiting for another round of cocktails, i open the door only to have a "security" guy come running to stop me! i was then told in a very unpleasant tone that i wasn't allowed in the restaurant because my shoes don't meet thier dress code! it was fine an hour ago.....but now i am no longer an acceptable customer! i explained tersly that i was in the middle of my dinner already and was finally allowed to reenter. upon be permitted to return to my table i took a look around at some of the other guests...one gentleman dressed in a jogging suit and sneakers, another in designer jeans and chuck taylor sneakers. this sealed the deal for me. i purposly didn't make an issue at that moment as the night was to be celebrating events for two others in our party but i can tell you this: i will never set foot in this place again! the food was mediocre, the service was slow and i nearly got thrown out before i paid the $250 bill!

6 stars!. if you are looking for a perfect night out with your girlfriends or that special guy in your life savoy located in the strip district of pittsburgh is the place. my best friends and i had an amazing dinner filled with great cuisine, cocktails, and chit chat. we received all star treatment from the moment that we pulled up to the door. from the complimentary valet service to the professional photographer we felt like we were at an awards show in hollywood.
the friendly and attentive staff was the perfect piece to complete the puzzle and added to what was a great experience.
if you loved to great all dolled up and treat yourself from time to time then savoy will be you cup of tea. we had such a memorable experience that we forgot that we were in pittsburgh for a moment. it was a great get a way for the night without having to get away. we are already planning a day for our next visit!

let me be the first to tell everyone that the rib eye steak at savoy is one of the best i've had in a while. it was so tender and juicy. alongside with my steak i had mashed potatoes and asparagus which were nicely seasoned. i surprised my fiancé with a dinner date & she was pleased at my choice of dinner. before leaving the restaurant my fiancé reserved another dinner reservation for the following weekend. i guess i did good.

love it!!!!!. i have anticipated the opening of savoy for a long time and can say that it was worth the wait. the food was delicious, and there were enough people in my party that we order almost everything on the menu. the service was great and with a party as large as mine, they handle the demand very well. i also had a chacne to tour the restaurant with one of the "men in black" (classy uniforms too) and i can honestly say that no detail was too small for the ownership of this place. the wine lockers and the vip rooms downstairs are "off the hook". i did have an opportunity to let the gentelman giving us the tour know that i thought the cocktails were overpriced, and he assured me that he would discuss that with management (i believed him) and they (management) bought us a round on the house (cant beat that). the crowd upstairs was sexy and the dj was really good...my favorite was the patio, with a fully stocked bar! i will go back as often as i can even if it's just for happy hour or the night time cocktail parties in the lounge upstairs. thank you savoy!

not worth the money!!!. this place did not even come close to living up to all the hype. it was very disappointing, the food was good but so overpriced. there is a dress code for men but it seemed as though the women could wear - well let's just say whatever. the decor was tacky and lighting was awful.

potential?. we went to savoy this afternoon. granted it was shortly after opening (i think we got there at 5:10) but it took at least a minute to be acknowledged at the hostess station despite the fact that there were 3 employees behind it and two next to it. we requested to sit outside and were told to seat ourselves. we walked upstairs and found our way to a deck where the furniture was still covered and the bar tender was just starting to get things together.
after a few minutes the deck was a very pleasant space. couches with bright cushions, low tables, some (faux)plants and a bar. the bartender was a very nice fellow if not overly helpful. we were given the lounge menu of small plates and a drink menu. the wine list was fairly pedestrian but expensive. the cheapest glass was $12.
we ordered the sliders and the inappropriately named "crab cake trio" which is actually a single crabcake, some frissee, and a vegetable strudel. the food was ok. ok is not bad except in this instance where the ok food was exceptionally overpriced.
final thoughts. savoy would be a nice place to revisit if they dropped their prices or stepped up their game considerably. or as my husband suggests, jerome bettis, brother of owner john bettis, greeted you at the door.

my experience.... i can't vote whether i actually 'like or don't like' the establishment just yet because i didn't eat there. so i'm not sure it would be a fair review. but i will give my opinion regarding the atmosphere on a weekend night. when you first walk in, the lighting is very bright. a little too much for my liking. but the setting is really nice... everything is black/white and very clean. the place as a whole came across as a little tacky. all the way from the way people were dressed to the local magazine advertising spread all across the bar. i definitely also saw some gold chains with shirts unbuttoned to mid-chest and butt baring skirts. there was a good mix of age, mostly young professionals 26-40, no college students and a few older people. the upstairs was a little better. i like the outside patio with heat lamps and the music inside was pretty decent. there's a little bit of room to dance, but don't expect a full blown dance floor. also, the drinks were very expensive. i ordered from the waitress either the house cab or merlot and i shelled out $15. they weren't generous with the pour either. this establishment might be attractive for some, but it wasn't really my style. i went with about 8 other girls and we kind of all felt the same way - - a bit tacky.

beware of restaurant manager. i'm not from pittsburgh and neither was 4 others in our party of 8! the restaurant itself is nice the food was pretty good but i will never go back to eat there because of the rude ass manager that was working the night of 4/4/15. i guess he had an attitude with our party because some of our guest arrived late for our reservation but they would not seat us until the entire reservation party arrived. i think his attitude was very unprofessional he greeted everyone in the restaurant but us the entire night we watched him go to every table but he went out of his way to not come to the two tables we were sitting at. this is why i usually don't spend my money in black establishments because this is how your treated by your own race...... needless to say we paid his paycheck that night because with a party of 8 we spent $$$$ when we dined there! it didn't matter that 6 of us were traveling in from philly only to check out this establishment.

service excellence. being from the south, i carry high standards for any type of soul food. when we came here we were planning on being disappointed but were surprised. between the service and the food, we felt like we stepped out of pittsburgh and tripped into mississippi. the hospitality and service was great. the food made me wonder if my mom was in the kitchen. the restaurant attitude was exciting and upbeat. whoever created this establishment knocked it out of the park. i had the shrimp and grits and was thinking about ordering one to go for lunch the next day. my wife had the crab cakes and loved them. i've never seen her so quiet in my life. i now know where i will be bringing her to end an argument. i strongly suggest trying out savoy.

my wife and i celebrated our anniversary dinner at savoy recently, and we loved the place! initially, when we booked the reservation, the general manager (tom) took the reservation over the phone, and he was interested in us and took the time to ask questions about his new customers. upon arrival, i appreciated the free parking lot. as we entered savoy, the décor appeared attractive and the greetings we received from the staff were very friendly. the restaurant was pleasantly full for a weekday supper, and we were led to a nice table in the back of the dining room. my wife was glad that she had her wrap with her, as it was a little chilly in the restaurant, but on a hot summer's night, that felt comfortable to me. our wine was very good, especially the red blend ( i wish i could remember the name). my filet mignon was one of the biggest and best i ever had, done perfectly, and my wife's crab cakes were also delicious! we noticed gm tom in action that evening, he offering to take our photo when he saw me attempting a "selfie". the entire service staff worked well together, but i have to offer one more compliment to tom the gm. he's definitely a "lead by example" manager, as no task seemed beneath him, including delivering food and scraping the crumbs off of tables in support of his team. well done savoy...we'll be back!

very beautiful and unpittsburgh like decor. my only complaint was the glaring neon lights that alternate colors. the green was horrible and not complimentary to the food or the atmosphere. food was good but a little overpriced for what is was.
