savoy...uh no!. this night out had the potential to be pleasant and was wrecked by our trip to savoy. all started out well with our party of 5 celebrating a couple occasions. initially the service was alright, the atmosphere a bit pretentious but acceptable. i won't speak for those eating the other meals other than to say the reviews were mixed, however, i will speak to mine. i ordered the beef two ways, a cube of filet and sliced brisket with mushrooms. the portion size was on the small end for the price but not terrible. the brisket was done quite well and actually very good, not so with the filet. the tiny (1.25") cube of filet was cooked to the proper state and looked nice, albeit small, and when i took my fork to it there was a 1/2" slab of fat all the way down the side of it! disgusting! for a $35 plate this should be excellent and it's not even close. thouroughly dissappointed with my meal, i decided to step outside and have a smoke. mind you, i'm the one picking up the tab for this evening. after 5 minutes outside having a smoke while waiting for another round of cocktails, i open the door only to have a "security" guy come running to stop me! i was then told in a very unpleasant tone that i wasn't allowed in the restaurant because my shoes don't meet thier dress code! it was fine an hour ago.....but now i am no longer an acceptable customer! i explained tersly that i was in the middle of my dinner already and was finally allowed to reenter. upon be permitted to return to my table i took a look around at some of the other guests...one gentleman dressed in a jogging suit and sneakers, another in designer jeans and chuck taylor sneakers. this sealed the deal for me. i purposly didn't make an issue at that moment as the night was to be celebrating events for two others in our party but i can tell you this: i will never set foot in this place again! thefoodwas mediocre, the service was slow and i nearly got thrown out before i paid the $250 bill!

love it!!!!!. i have anticipated the opening of savoy for a long time and can say that it was worth the wait. thefoodwas delicious, and there were enough people in my party that we order almost everything on the menu. the service was great and with a party as large as mine, they handle the demand very well. i also had a chacne to tour the restaurant with one of the "men in black" (classy uniforms too) and i can honestly say that no detail was too small for the ownership of this place. the wine lockers and the vip rooms downstairs are "off the hook". i did have an opportunity to let the gentelman giving us the tour know that i thought the cocktails were overpriced, and he assured me that he would discuss that with management (i believed him) and they (management) bought us a round on the house (cant beat that). the crowd upstairs was sexy and the dj was really good...my favorite was the patio, with a fully stocked bar! i will go back as often as i can even if it's just for happy hour or the night time cocktail parties in the lounge upstairs. thank you savoy!

not worth the money!!!. this place did not even come close to living up to all the hype. it was very disappointing, thefoodwas good but so overpriced. there is a dress code for men but it seemed as though the women could wear - well let's just say whatever. the decor was tacky and lighting was awful.

potential?. we went to savoy this afternoon. granted it was shortly after opening (i think we got there at 5:10) but it took at least a minute to be acknowledged at the hostess station despite the fact that there were 3 employees behind it and two next to it. we requested to sit outside and were told to seat ourselves. we walked upstairs and found our way to a deck where the furniture was still covered and the bar tender was just starting to get things together.
after a few minutes the deck was a very pleasant space. couches with bright cushions, low tables, some (faux)plants and a bar. the bartender was a very nice fellow if not overly helpful. we were given the lounge menu of small plates and a drink menu. the wine list was fairly pedestrian but expensive. the cheapest glass was $12.
we ordered the sliders and the inappropriately named "crab cake trio" which is actually a single crabcake, some frissee, and a vegetable strudel. thefoodwas ok. ok is not bad except in this instance where the okfoodwas exceptionally overpriced.
final thoughts. savoy would be a nice place to revisit if they dropped their prices or stepped up their game considerably. or as my husband suggests, jerome bettis, brother of owner john bettis, greeted you at the door.

beware of restaurant manager. i'm not from pittsburgh and neither was 4 others in our party of 8! the restaurant itself is nice thefoodwas pretty good but i will never go back to eat there because of the rude ass manager that was working the night of 4/4/15. i guess he had an attitude with our party because some of our guest arrived late for our reservation but they would not seat us until the entire reservation party arrived. i think his attitude was very unprofessional he greeted everyone in the restaurant but us the entire night we watched him go to every table but he went out of his way to not come to the two tables we were sitting at. this is why i usually don't spend my money in black establishments because this is how your treated by your own race...... needless to say we paid his paycheck that night because with a party of 8 we spent $$$$ when we dined there! it didn't matter that 6 of us were traveling in from philly only to check out this establishment.

service excellence. being from the south, i carry high standards for any type of soul food. when we came here we were planning on being disappointed but were surprised. between the service and the food, we felt like we stepped out of pittsburgh and tripped into mississippi. the hospitality and service was great. thefoodmade me wonder if my mom was in the kitchen. the restaurant attitude was exciting and upbeat. whoever created this establishment knocked it out of the park. i had the shrimp and grits and was thinking about ordering one to go for lunch the next day. my wife had the crab cakes and loved them. i've never seen her so quiet in my life. i now know where i will be bringing her to end an argument. i strongly suggest trying out savoy.

my wife and i celebrated our anniversary dinner at savoy recently, and we loved the place! initially, when we booked the reservation, the general manager (tom) took the reservation over the phone, and he was interested in us and took the time to ask questions about his new customers. upon arrival, i appreciated the free parking lot. as we entered savoy, the décor appeared attractive and the greetings we received from the staff were very friendly. the restaurant was pleasantly full for a weekday supper, and we were led to a nice table in the back of the dining room. my wife was glad that she had her wrap with her, as it was a little chilly in the restaurant, but on a hot summer's night, that felt comfortable to me. our wine was very good, especially the red blend ( i wish i could remember the name). my filet mignon was one of the biggest and best i ever had, done perfectly, and my wife's crab cakes were also delicious! we noticed gm tom in action that evening, he offering to take our photo when he saw me attempting a "selfie". the entire service staff worked well together, but i have to offer one more compliment to tom the gm. he's definitely a "lead by example" manager, as no task seemed beneath him, including deliveringfoodand scraping the crumbs off of tables in support of his team. well done savoy...we'll be back!

very beautiful and unpittsburgh like decor. my only complaint was the glaring neon lights that alternate colors. the green was horrible and not complimentary to thefoodor the atmosphere.foodwas good but a little overpriced for what is was.

i tried out the fish tacos, which were flavorful and light. thefoodis pre-made, kept hot, and delivered quickly. that involves the risk of dishes getting soggy, but savoy has mastered this delivery and thefoodhad the same texture and quality as though it were fresh out of the kitchen.

hoping the experience is better.... just made reservations for a group of 8 for a friday night at 5:00pm in a few weeks. i had to give them my credit card to hold the reservation - they charged $100 to the card to hold our reservations! i've never heard of this before! they also informed me that they would not allow separate checks - everything would have to be charged to my card. i'm not happy about this treatment - hope thefoodand experience make this inconvenience worthwhile! will let you know...

seriously, this is a must try. first of all, let me just say that i have started to get jaded with the pittsburghfoodscene. i have lived here all my life, and we try all the new restaurants and we have had a string of disappointments. i was not expecting savoy to be one of my new favorite restaurants or it to be on par with toast and eleven, but it far exceeded my expectations. the atmosphere was beautiful and reminiscent of some of the nicer restaurants we've been to in vegas. but there was no snootiness - everyone we encountered from the valet, to the hostess, to the waitress to the bartenders, etc. were just super friendly, down to earth, nice people. thefoodwas amazing. i have celiac disease and must eat gluten free - this is the first restaurant in pgh that brought me gluten free bread before my meal. i had the lamb chops with spinach risotto and baby carrots, and it was seriously the best lamb i have ever had - tender and melt-in -your-mouth. for dessert, my husband and i split the gf chocolate cake with blackberry mousse and pistachios. it was crazy delicious. afterwards, we decided to explore and stopped up to their lounge, where we had some really well-made cocktails. i am sure this place is hopping later in the evening, but we were pleased to have this beautiful place to ourselves and enjoy some lovely drinks before the party kicked in. perhaps some people think of savoy as a nightclub, and i am sure it is fabulous at that, but first and foremost it should be known as one of the best restaurants in pittsburgh. the chef here knows what he is doing.

the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. it’s designed in a way that makes you feel comfortable and never want to leave. everything from the white leather chairs, to the spotlights subtly changing the color of the walls make it beautifully unique. the staff is also so friendly and welcoming. they make you feel right at home.

now, onto the food. first lets start with the bread basket, as even this is worth mentioning. there were four or five different types of bread, that were all amazing. we especially loved one that was cheesy and another that had tiny bits of olives in it. now onto the appetizer. we had the mediterranean platter and it was basically everyfoodfantasy i’ve ever had, combined together. it was also huge! mediterraneanfoodis my favorite, and this is by far the best appetizer of its kind that i’ve ever had. it was filled with hummus, pita chips, olives (and lots of them!), feta cheese and lots of veggies. mmm. finally, our main courses were also completely fabulous. i had the angel hair pasta with shrimp and my boyfriend had the pork three ways. both incredible.
