savoy...uh no!. this night out had the potential to be pleasant and was wrecked by our trip to savoy. all started out well with our party of 5 celebrating a couple occasions. initially the service was alright, the atmosphere a bit pretentious but acceptable. i won't speak for those eating the other meals other than to say the reviews were mixed, however, i will speak to mine. i ordered the beef two ways, a cube of filet and sliced brisket with mushrooms. the portion size was on the small end for the price but not terrible. the brisket was done quite well and actually very good, not so with the filet. the tiny (1.25") cube of filet was cooked to the proper state and looked nice, albeit small, and when i took my fork to it there was a 1/2" slab of fat all the way down the side of it! disgusting! for a $35 plate this should be excellent and it's not even close. thouroughly dissappointed with my meal, i decided to step outside and have a smoke. mind you, i'm the one picking up the tab for this evening. after 5 minutes outside having a smoke while waiting for another round of cocktails, i open the door only to have a "security" guy come running to stop me! i was then told in a very unpleasant tone that i wasn't allowed in the restaurant because my shoes don't meet thier dress code! it was fine an hour ago.....but now i am no longer an acceptable customer! i explained tersly that i was in the middle of mydinneralready and was finally allowed to reenter. upon be permitted to return to my table i took a look around at some of the other guests...one gentleman dressed in a jogging suit and sneakers, another in designer jeans and chuck taylor sneakers. this sealed the deal for me. i purposly didn't make an issue at that moment as the night was to be celebrating events for two others in our party but i can tell you this: i will never set foot in this place again! the food was mediocre, the service was slow and i nearly got thrown out before i paid the $250 bill!

6 stars!. if you are looking for a perfect night out with your girlfriends or that special guy in your life savoy located in the strip district of pittsburgh is the place. my best friends and i had an amazingdinnerfilled with great cuisine, cocktails, and chit chat. we received all star treatment from the moment that we pulled up to the door. from the complimentary valet service to the professional photographer we felt like we were at an awards show in hollywood.
the friendly and attentive staff was the perfect piece to complete the puzzle and added to what was a great experience.
if you loved to great all dolled up and treat yourself from time to time then savoy will be you cup of tea. we had such a memorable experience that we forgot that we were in pittsburgh for a moment. it was a great get a way for the night without having to get away. we are already planning a day for our next visit!

let me be the first to tell everyone that the rib eye steak at savoy is one of the best i've had in a while. it was so tender and juicy. alongside with my steak i had mashed potatoes and asparagus which were nicely seasoned. i surprised my fiancé with adinnerdate & she was pleased at my choice of dinner. before leaving the restaurant my fiancé reserved anotherdinnerreservation for the following weekend. i guess i did good.

my wife and i celebrated our anniversarydinnerat savoy recently, and we loved the place! initially, when we booked the reservation, the general manager (tom) took the reservation over the phone, and he was interested in us and took the time to ask questions about his new customers. upon arrival, i appreciated the free parking lot. as we entered savoy, the décor appeared attractive and the greetings we received from the staff were very friendly. the restaurant was pleasantly full for a weekday supper, and we were led to a nice table in the back of the dining room. my wife was glad that she had her wrap with her, as it was a little chilly in the restaurant, but on a hot summer's night, that felt comfortable to me. our wine was very good, especially the red blend ( i wish i could remember the name). my filet mignon was one of the biggest and best i ever had, done perfectly, and my wife's crab cakes were also delicious! we noticed gm tom in action that evening, he offering to take our photo when he saw me attempting a "selfie". the entire service staff worked well together, but i have to offer one more compliment to tom the gm. he's definitely a "lead by example" manager, as no task seemed beneath him, including delivering food and scraping the crumbs off of tables in support of his team. well done savoy...we'll be back!

great food, great atmosphere!. we haddinnerat savoy last night with some very special friends. i dine out quite often, but somehow, i just now found this awesome restaurant. i had the butternut squash chocolate raviolis in a lobster cream sauce, and my husband had the veal meatloaf. we were blown away! both meals were superb in every way. the chef came out to check on us and make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. the restaurant is chic, very unique, and also very intimate and relaxing. i would recommend this place to anyone who wants a great dining experience. also, i don't know anyone who owns it, works there, etc., so this is a real review. thanks so much savoy for your professional and excellent chef, wait staff and bartenders. we will be back. joel and sue frye

i had the opportunity to havedinnerat savoy restaurant in the strip recently. i wasn't familiar with savoy, but my friend was. "you have to check this place out," she said. i arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation, and got to meet one of the managers, gary white. "if you have a few minutes, let me show you around." "lead the way," i replied. savoy bar gary took me downstairs to a vip room. inside was a long table covered with white cloth; probably big enough for 20 to 30 people. also inside the room were a state of the art sound system, and a huge plasma tv. mr. white explained to me how he could personalize any party, from the music to the cuisine. "you can also have your own personal wait-staff; we assure total privacy in this room." i'm sure there had been many vip's, as well as famous personalities in this room, but mr. white wouldn't spill the beans. outside the vip room was a large glass cabinet filled with vsop cognac, and other top-shelf liquors. if y

exceeded an epicurean's expectations. recently haddinnerat this place and was thoroughly suprised at the experience. suffice it to say, that this restaurant is certainly a niche establishment in that, it will invariably appeal to a young, professional audience. it is refreshing to see a restaurant in the pittsburgh area that embraces and executes the type of dining experience it wants its diners to have.

service was spot-on--bartender for premeal drinks was attentive and friendly. server was mindful and i never once had to look for him to have my drink refilled or inquire about something in particular.

appetizer--mediterreanean plate consisiting of hummus, pita chips, olives, and various grilled veggies: light and well-portioned. excellent choice to wet the palate.

entree--chicken and waffles: waffles were airy, rather than pourous, sweet bricks and offset the perfectly fried chicken. of particular note was the batter that was used for the chicken--a lot of places tend to typically coat their chicken too heavily. savoy's batter is thin and allows the diner to really focus on the chicken and its marriage with the waffles.

will definitely be back.

nice decor, reasonable food. i went to this restaurant last night with a dining partner. we got there at 8 pm on a thursday night and the restaurantt was fairly empty but as the night went on it started to fill up. the decor is very aesthetically pleasing and the whole restaurant much brighter than you would think from the outside. the feel inside was much like that of a trendy vegas restaurant with dance music playing loud enough to drown out background noises but not so loud as to not be able to hear your waiter/waitress or others at your table.

we started off with the calamari and shrimp appetizer. the appetizer was quite large and came with a side of a flavored horseradish sauce. the breading on the shrimp and calamari was good and the shrimp reasonably sized. my only complaint with it being that the larger calamari were actually cooked too long and were a bit burnt making them very rubbery. othereise it was a solid appetizer.dinnerfor me was the butter poached lobster and scallops with papperdale pasta. the dish appeared deceivingly small whenever it came but actually contained quite a bit of food. the pasta was fresh and the cream sauce rich. there was also a lot of lobster in the dish with at least both claws, the tail and some other sizable pieces. overall it had a good flavor. my dining partner ordered the crab cakes and the two crab crakes that came out were large and displayed beautifully. i took a taste of one and it had great flavor with enough citrus to make it delightful. with all of the food that we ate for dinner, we ended up being too stuffed for dessert which was a shame since they had a few items that sounded good.

the bottom line for me is that the food was good although pricey, but you get what you paid for. overall it was a pleasant experience and i am happy that i tried savoy but i do not think that i would go back as there are better restaurants in pittsburgh with a better price point.

really enjoyed it!. we had a groupon certificate and decided to try savoy on a saturday. reservations were easy to make via their website and someone called a day ahead to confirm. when we arrived, the valet was courteous and professional. we were seated in the bar area which was fairly small. i felt that the banquette seating was too close to the party next to you, and the dinging from the front door opening was annoying. however, we were promptly greeted by our server and felt welcomed. the appetizer was a 3.5/5 because i am extremely picky about crabcakes and didnt like the crusty, breaded outside.dinnerwas a 4/5 because my filet was great in the middle but too tough on the outside and the potatoes were not as hot as i wouldve liked. the desserts were delicious and very well presented. we were greeted at our table not only by the manager but the executive chef as well. we checked out the lounge but didnt order drinks. it was a good experience overall.

my husband and i took my sister to the savoy for a birthday brunch on sunday september 4, 2011 it was raining and one of the gentleman who worked at the restaurant provided an umbrella and walked us in,so we wouldn't get wet, the restaurant is very lovely, the service was great . what a pleasure to meet the chef . the omelet i ordered along with my meal was cooked to perfection. our waiter jarrett could not have been nicer, my sister ordered dessert and it arrived with happy birthday written on the plate with chocolate syrup, after dessert jarrett took me and my sister for a tour of the restaurant . my husband and i plan to go to the savoy fordinnerand we will certainly let everyone we know about this great new restaurant in town. we wish you luck

horrible customer service. i had planned a girls night out on july 15 2011 for my friends and clients. i made two reservations one for 8:00 for six and i reserved the lounge for 9:00 for a party of 40,we were supposed to havedinnerbut the transformer in the kitchen blew. i know things happen and that was beyond your control, but , i made reservation and no one called to inform me that the kitchen was closed for the night. i thought the reason for making reservations was if something happened you could call and cancel or give a person some options 'no one called.' the best service we recieved that night was from the valet drivers, the savoy rest. was a bust i don't know if we or maybe i should say i will ever patronize the savoy again, because their customer service sucks!!!!!!!!!!!
