huge disappointment. as a professional living in pittsburgh i was excited at the prospect of a new upscale restaurant where i could hang out with other professionals that enjoy the finer things. from the time i pulled up i was disappointed. instead of sophistication i was greeted with cheese. what is with the red carpet??? do these people really think they are celebraties? when i walked inside i was expecting to see refined diners and well dressed patrons. what i saw wasn't even close to this. the girls were dressed in polyester dresses from h&m far from the gucci and prada image they are trying to portray. a girlfriend of mine told me she has a friend that works as a model in pittsburgh andsavoyactually hires models from an her agency to come in and eat pretending they are paying customers. and worse yet they only hire a certain "look" to attract a "white" crowd. how pathetic is that??? the decor and lighting is terrible, everything is so overdesigned, they are just trying way to hard.

6 stars!. if you are looking for a perfect night out with your girlfriends or that special guy in your lifesavoylocated in the strip district of pittsburgh is the place. my best friends and i had an amazing dinner filled with great cuisine, cocktails, and chit chat. we received all star treatment from the moment that we pulled up to the door. from the complimentary valet service to the professional photographer we felt like we were at an awards show in hollywood.
the friendly and attentive staff was the perfect piece to complete the puzzle and added to what was a great experience.
if you loved to great all dolled up and treat yourself from time to time thensavoywill be you cup of tea. we had such a memorable experience that we forgot that we were in pittsburgh for a moment. it was a great get a way for the night without having to get away. we are already planning a day for our next visit!

let me be the first to tell everyone that the rib eye steak atsavoyis one of the best i've had in a while. it was so tender and juicy. alongside with my steak i had mashed potatoes and asparagus which were nicely seasoned. i surprised my fiancé with a dinner date & she was pleased at my choice of dinner. before leaving the restaurant my fiancé reserved another dinner reservation for the following weekend. i guess i did good.

love it!!!!!. i have anticipated the opening ofsavoyfor a long time and can say that it was worth the wait. the food was delicious, and there were enough people in my party that we order almost everything on the menu. the service was great and with a party as large as mine, they handle the demand very well. i also had a chacne to tour the restaurant with one of the "men in black" (classy uniforms too) and i can honestly say that no detail was too small for the ownership of this place. the wine lockers and the vip rooms downstairs are "off the hook". i did have an opportunity to let the gentelman giving us the tour know that i thought the cocktails were overpriced, and he assured me that he would discuss that with management (i believed him) and they (management) bought us a round on the house (cant beat that). the crowd upstairs was sexy and the dj was really good...my favorite was the patio, with a fully stocked bar! i will go back as often as i can even if it's just for happy hour or the night time cocktail parties in the lounge upstairs. thank you savoy!

potential?. we went tosavoythis afternoon. granted it was shortly after opening (i think we got there at 5:10) but it took at least a minute to be acknowledged at the hostess station despite the fact that there were 3 employees behind it and two next to it. we requested to sit outside and were told to seat ourselves. we walked upstairs and found our way to a deck where the furniture was still covered and the bar tender was just starting to get things together.
after a few minutes the deck was a very pleasant space. couches with bright cushions, low tables, some (faux)plants and a bar. the bartender was a very nice fellow if not overly helpful. we were given the lounge menu of small plates and a drink menu. the wine list was fairly pedestrian but expensive. the cheapest glass was $12.
we ordered the sliders and the inappropriately named "crab cake trio" which is actually a single crabcake, some frissee, and a vegetable strudel. the food was ok. ok is not bad except in this instance where the ok food was exceptionally overpriced.
final thoughts.savoywould be a nice place to revisit if they dropped their prices or stepped up their game considerably. or as my husband suggests, jerome bettis, brother of owner john bettis, greeted you at the door.

my wife and i celebrated our anniversary dinner atsavoyrecently, and we loved the place! initially, when we booked the reservation, the general manager (tom) took the reservation over the phone, and he was interested in us and took the time to ask questions about his new customers. upon arrival, i appreciated the free parking lot. as we entered savoy, the décor appeared attractive and the greetings we received from the staff were very friendly. the restaurant was pleasantly full for a weekday supper, and we were led to a nice table in the back of the dining room. my wife was glad that she had her wrap with her, as it was a little chilly in the restaurant, but on a hot summer's night, that felt comfortable to me. our wine was very good, especially the red blend ( i wish i could remember the name). my filet mignon was one of the biggest and best i ever had, done perfectly, and my wife's crab cakes were also delicious! we noticed gm tom in action that evening, he offering to take our photo when he saw me attempting a "selfie". the entire service staff worked well together, but i have to offer one more compliment to tom the gm. he's definitely a "lead by example" manager, as no task seemed beneath him, including delivering food and scraping the crumbs off of tables in support of his team. well done savoy...we'll be back!

great food, great atmosphere!. we had dinner atsavoylast night with some very special friends. i dine out quite often, but somehow, i just now found this awesome restaurant. i had the butternut squash chocolate raviolis in a lobster cream sauce, and my husband had the veal meatloaf. we were blown away! both meals were superb in every way. the chef came out to check on us and make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. the restaurant is chic, very unique, and also very intimate and relaxing. i would recommend this place to anyone who wants a great dining experience. also, i don't know anyone who owns it, works there, etc., so this is a real review. thanks so muchsavoyfor your professional and excellent chef, wait staff and bartenders. we will be back. joel and sue frye

i tried out the fish tacos, which were flavorful and light. the food is pre-made, kept hot, and delivered quickly. that involves the risk of dishes getting soggy, butsavoyhas mastered this delivery and the food had the same texture and quality as though it were fresh out of the kitchen.

seriously, this is a must try. first of all, let me just say that i have started to get jaded with the pittsburgh food scene. i have lived here all my life, and we try all the new restaurants and we have had a string of disappointments. i was not expectingsavoyto be one of my new favorite restaurants or it to be on par with toast and eleven, but it far exceeded my expectations. the atmosphere was beautiful and reminiscent of some of the nicer restaurants we've been to in vegas. but there was no snootiness - everyone we encountered from the valet, to the hostess, to the waitress to the bartenders, etc. were just super friendly, down to earth, nice people. the food was amazing. i have celiac disease and must eat gluten free - this is the first restaurant in pgh that brought me gluten free bread before my meal. i had the lamb chops with spinach risotto and baby carrots, and it was seriously the best lamb i have ever had - tender and melt-in -your-mouth. for dessert, my husband and i split the gf chocolate cake with blackberry mousse and pistachios. it was crazy delicious. afterwards, we decided to explore and stopped up to their lounge, where we had some really well-made cocktails. i am sure this place is hopping later in the evening, but we were pleased to have this beautiful place to ourselves and enjoy some lovely drinks before the party kicked in. perhaps some people think ofsavoyas a nightclub, and i am sure it is fabulous at that, but first and foremost it should be known as one of the best restaurants in pittsburgh. the chef here knows what he is doing.

a meal & night to remember. i am not sure where to begin. after reading many reviews prior to our visit, i must say there was some trepidation as to what our evening was going to be like. many said service was slow, or poor & that it was a pretentious, stuffy & overpriced restaurant. i am truly dumbfounded as to how anyone could feel this way.
i can truly & honestly say this was one of the "best" dining & most memorable restaurant experiences we have ever had.
i know i have not traveled as often & as diversely as some foodies or other reviewers. i have however searched high & low for culinary uniqueness in places such as, france, austria, ireland, mexico, san francisco, new york, boston, & new orleans just to name a few.
whatsavoyoffers in culinary & cultural diversity is unfounded in many of the above mentioned places i have been including pittsburgh. however what made our evening so special & why you should go tosavoyis the people.
it has been said "you can easily judge the character of a man(or woman) by how he treats those who can do nothing for him".savoy& its staff that served us are the epitome of that. specifically our waitress (carly), manager (tom) & the executive chef mr. kevin watson are truly awesome people that enjoy serving others.
very few times if ever have i left a restaurant feeling as we did, connected to or a genuine bond of friendship formed with someone whom we never met previously.
why you might ask, it really all started with carly our awesome waitress. after ordering our first bottle of wine carly admitted that she was fairly new to the restaurant. as she was attempting to uncork our first bottle of wine it was giving her a difficult time. now instead of creating an uncomfortable moment as many customers may have felt carly's charming personality allowed us to begin our unforgettable evening of laughter & fun. so much so, that tom the manager & kevin the chef stopped to see why our table was having such a good time.
now in most restaurants of this stature having the manager & chef stop briefly to inquire of how the meal or service was is fairly standard. but that is wheresavoyis different. not only did they stop once, but the chef kevin sat with our table for at least 10-15 minutes and engaged not in small talk but as if a friend that you have known for many years. then he proceeded to the kitchen & returned with a tray of delightful salted caramels for us to enjoy. (not on the menu might i add) after this he then gave us a tour of the private room downstairs, the lounge area upstairs & the balcony outside. along the way stopping & introducing us to others including mr. bettis (jerome's brother) as if he had known us for years or as if we were vip's.

so in summary, although we primarily visitedsavoybecause we purchased a groupon, the food was incredible (tilapia tacos, lamb chops :), stuffed salmon etc..), and wine wednesday was great ($20 bottles), but would "strongly" recommend this restaurant & return ourselves because of the people. try it, you won't be disappointed.

i had the opportunity to have dinner atsavoyrestaurant in the strip recently. i wasn't familiar with savoy, but my friend was. "you have to check this place out," she said. i arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation, and got to meet one of the managers, gary white. "if you have a few minutes, let me show you around." "lead the way," i replied.savoybar gary took me downstairs to a vip room. inside was a long table covered with white cloth; probably big enough for 20 to 30 people. also inside the room were a state of the art sound system, and a huge plasma tv. mr. white explained to me how he could personalize any party, from the music to the cuisine. "you can also have your own personal wait-staff; we assure total privacy in this room." i'm sure there had been many vip's, as well as famous personalities in this room, but mr. white wouldn't spill the beans. outside the vip room was a large glass cabinet filled with vsop cognac, and other top-shelf liquors. if y

loved the savoy!!!. my husband took me to thesavoyfor my 40th birthday in january. the place is lovely, the staff was attentive and the food was fantastic!!!
my husband is a huge steelers football fan, and as a bonus, we ended up meeting ryan mundy that night! (ryan mundy was having a vip party in the lounge.)
the waiter asked (at the beginning of our experience) what were were celebrating tonight) my husband said that it was my birthday. at the end of our dinner,i received a "happy birthday" cupcake from the waiter. it was amazing!
the only thing i didn't like is the chef didn't speak to us, but he made his way around to the other tables. other than that, we would definitely go back!

wonderful experience! my husband and i had been looking forward to our date night out tosavoyfor a month and we were not disappointed. each and every detail of our experience was pleasant right down to the valet. the hostess staff was friendly and welcoming, our server (michael, ask for him) was excellent, the ambiance was lovely, the mid-nineties r&b dining music was a necessary break from the norm for this area (at least to me), the bus-staff was attentive and friendly and oh yea, the meal was phenomenal! we started with the calamari and shrimp appetizer and i had the lobster and scallop pasta while my husband ordered the "beef two ways". all of it, every bite was perfect. my only regret is being so full that we saved no room for desert because the selection was tempting. we will certainly be back and will likely bring our families because this is the kind of experience you want to share with the people you love. i hope you try savoy, as well.

best appetizer?. my girlfriend and i went tosavoylast night for some "fine" dining. the place is beautiful, 5/5, but the food was not. first, our drinks although moderately priced were about as good as what you could get at a college bar in oakland. next, we tried pittsburgh's #1 appetizer, the chicken satays...i don't know who voted or who was cooking last night but the satays tasted like chicken dipped in heavy cream. no flavor whatsoever. next i had the pork 3 way, once again the shoulder was bland, the ribs were ok, but the tenderloin with the apples was very good. my girlfriend had the lobster and scallop pasta which she was very pleased with. after dinner, we hoped that the desert would salvage this trip but to our dismay it did not. the chocolate peppermint patty with raspberry sauce tasted like a cake right out the freezer box. thankfully the tablespoon of sorbet cleansed the palate. if it wasn't for the groupon that we purchased, i would have been extremely displeased with the amount of money that it would have cost for a mediocre meal. if i ever go back, maybe i'll try the $25 dollar chicken and waffles.

nice decor, reasonable food. i went to this restaurant last night with a dining partner. we got there at 8 pm on a thursday night and the restaurantt was fairly empty but as the night went on it started to fill up. the decor is very aesthetically pleasing and the whole restaurant much brighter than you would think from the outside. the feel inside was much like that of a trendy vegas restaurant with dance music playing loud enough to drown out background noises but not so loud as to not be able to hear your waiter/waitress or others at your table.

we started off with the calamari and shrimp appetizer. the appetizer was quite large and came with a side of a flavored horseradish sauce. the breading on the shrimp and calamari was good and the shrimp reasonably sized. my only complaint with it being that the larger calamari were actually cooked too long and were a bit burnt making them very rubbery. othereise it was a solid appetizer. dinner for me was the butter poached lobster and scallops with papperdale pasta. the dish appeared deceivingly small whenever it came but actually contained quite a bit of food. the pasta was fresh and the cream sauce rich. there was also a lot of lobster in the dish with at least both claws, the tail and some other sizable pieces. overall it had a good flavor. my dining partner ordered the crab cakes and the two crab crakes that came out were large and displayed beautifully. i took a taste of one and it had great flavor with enough citrus to make it delightful. with all of the food that we ate for dinner, we ended up being too stuffed for dessert which was a shame since they had a few items that sounded good.

the bottom line for me is that the food was good although pricey, but you get what you paid for. overall it was a pleasant experience and i am happy that i triedsavoybut i do not think that i would go back as there are better restaurants in pittsburgh with a better price point.
