great atmosphere and beautiful design! food is good and some what local. great place to bring out of towners too.

overall pretty good!. my wife and i live close by so we stop in for lunch and dinner occasionally. the service is friendly and perky and the atmosphere is definitely beachie.... i pretty well don't order their mixed drinks much anymore because they skimp on the liquor part and the drinks are too expensive for what you get. i would recommend you give it a try and post your opinion.

yum!!!. ** if you have not tried salt life food shack's new tuna burger, then you are missing out! i recently went to dinner with a friend and had such great service and the food was delicious! my server jen suggested i try the tuna burger which is a special that is not on the menu and i am so glad i took her advice. the tuna burger was a nice size portion topped with fried avocados, lettuce, tomato and onion with a wasabi cream and eel sauce drizzle. this is defiantly my new favorite item at the shack, and i can't wait until my next visit!

delightful meal and great service. fried shrimp were great. rum cake was delicious!

okay, so maybe it is not perfect, but salt life food shack is a stellar representation of our beloved beaches. i am not necessarily referring to the food, but to the overall experience. when you enter salt life you are immediately caught in an environment that screams, "ocean, beach, surf, sand...." surely you get my point. everything from the chairs resembling cushioned beach chairs to the surfboards and marlins on the walls, it instantly pulls you into the 'salt life' way of living. after relaxation settles in, you are ready to eat, drink, and be salty.

i like ti!!!!. i was there the other day for a first time. i like it very much and can't be lice i haven't been there before. it's very nice setup and would recommend this place if you want to have nice meal down at beach!!!!

not a good experience. poke bowl (most pop dish) = poor quality yellow fin, old, served on hot steamed rice... half way through, some of the tuna turned color from being cooked by rice... topper = hair in the bottom. won't be back.

inconsistant. if you went here and you didn't like the food... try again another time. the atmosphere makes up for it. i have been here about 10 times, about 6 of them have been "good" the best was the first week. i heard they have a high turnover in the kitchen.

smoke and mirrors!!! the place looks cool. and that's about it... so if u enjoy terrible service and boring food. this is the food shack for you!!!

great food!. this place is great! the most delicious fried calamari i've ever had! the shrimp and chorizo nachos are the best. great fresh fish and awesome drink specials!

loved it!!. great food, great atmosphere, great service! i went in with my boyfriend and we had a great time. the service was really great. we let our server know it was our first time and she recommended the special blackened mahi and the poke bowl. both were delicious. will definitely be back!!

good. food is good, not fancy and not top-of-the line but it is good quality for the price. i always get the poke bowl- my favorite. i have not had a bad entree yet. atmosphere is fun and relaxed. service is good.

horrid service they told us 45 minutes and it was double that. food is ok. most aggravating is that locals of same size group showed up after us and were finished eating before we sat down. i'll never return

driving around jacksonville, you are bound to notice one ubiquitous identifier of locals: salt life car decals. it might be a bit of an exaggeration to say that something like 1 in 5 cars carries a salt life sticker-but not much of one. after a week or so, my curiosity got the best of me and i hit the internets to find out what salt life was all about. turns out, it's a surf shop restaurant out on jax beach. the restaurant portion seemed to be well-loved, so i convinced a few other new-hires at the job to check it out with me one weekend. salt life food shack here we find another misnomered restaurant-calling the place a food "shack" is sellint it extremely short. the modern wood and stucco exterior is made more casual by beachy-but-classy interior decor, like gorgeous wood floors and tables inlaid with ocean blue tile (don't quote me on any of that, i'm no designer). i was excited to have dining buddies who were down with slurping oysters, and we ordered both the chargrilled and raw p

note to self. bacon at the salt life is actually ham (not even bacon). clear your own table. it will take more than 20 minutes for the staff to do their job. they'll even try to serve your food on the unclean table. jeez. and the food for the price isn't that great. bream here a few. knew the food was "ok". but really. having to ask the busser who is clearing the empty table behind you first, to clear our own...really???! will have to think again before coming back.
