the sushi was awesome. very reasonable for the quality. service was great... our server was able to make pleasing recommendations... we will definktely come back soon.

everything at sakura sushi was incredible. the spicy kani tempura, the goyza (not vegetarian or pescetarian), the cheektowaga roll, philadelphia roll, yellow tuna roll, coppa mascarpone, and dream bomba was all absolutely amazing and out of this world. this local restaurant week experience is exactly what i love about this event: i found an incredible place, tried some amazing food i wouldn’t normally order, and enjoyed every little thing about it! the ambiance is perfect, the service was amazing, the food was fantastic, and i found 8 vegetarian rolls to come back and try.

best sushi in hattiesburg. i have lived in hattiesburg for 19 years, but had never been to sakura until about a year ago. i will confess that previously i had never been a huge fan of sushi or sashimi, i didn't dislike, but i never had a craving for sushi. maybe i just pretended liked it because it was something relatively new to the south for most of my early years. recently, while back in town for a few weeks between semesters at um, my girlfriend and i were more or less forced into coming here by a friend, a friend to whom i now owe a thank you note. the food has been outstanding every single time. the soups taste fresh and homemade, a perfect combination of flavors that are perfect for beginning the meal. the sushi menu is extensive, and they have many options that are unfamiliar to the typical southerner, but the staff is knowledgeable and eager to guide you through the menu. my favorite is the sushi dinner, the salmon roe is powerfully flavorful and mouth-filling but not overwhelming. the white fish is simple and fresh, an excellent way to begin your foray into raw fish. the yellow tail is my personal favorite, but the entire selection is outstanding. the tempura is also a favorite, especially since they incorporate some uncommon vegetables such as japanese pumpkin (they have a small garden out back). a bit pricey, but well worth it. give it a try.

still our favorite. took in a late lunch with the wife at sakura. we had not been in a long time and i am not even sure why...but we made up for it today. sakura was the first japanese restaurant in hattiesburg and it's still one of the best. the sushi and sashimi rolls are always fresh and well prepared. the tempura is consistent and done well. i've never had a disappointing meal at sukura and from what we had today, it's as good as ever.

ate their for lunch on a weekday. not very impressed, mediocre at best compared to other sushi places in town. menu for lunch was not adjustable in any way for me to add to or take away. waiter seemed to be in a hurry to do other things than serve me. the california roll was tiny compared to most i've had and the sashimi was 90% rice..... their are better places to eat sushi in hattiesburg honestly.

i've been here twice. once for sushi and the second time for hibachi. the service was mediocre and the food isn't that good and over priced. if you're looking for sushi sori sushi down the street is better. i'd only come here for the novelty, but not if i was looking for a great meal.

by far the best sushi and japanese food in hattiesburg. there are tons of options here, but most of them are sub-par. in my opinion, sakura is the og. aside from the sushi, i'd highly recommend their sukiyaki. from what the staff has told me, it's only ordered very rarely, which is really unfortunate. it's absolutely fantastic. order it while sitting at the sushi bar on a cold day for the best experience. you won't regret it.

:-(. impressive decor; very noisy; beautifully-attired staff prepare/serve generous portions of tasteless, heavily salted food with the usual flash of knives and fire to patrons easily amused by catching food in their mouths midair; big $$$.

this place never disappoints. best sushi, great hibachi food, great service. i have never had a bad experience here.

definitely a sushi bar. the sushi was great. we would go there again just for that. however, the miso soup was clearly re-hydrated and the teriyaki was just okay.
