one of the best in town. i really like to go here when in br. the tabasco pepper jelly salad dressing is fantastic. from there, the options just get better. i think the pork chop is one of my favorites. the grilled oyster appetizer is good as well. i usually sit in the bar, so i can't comment on the rest of the atmosphere, but i like it in the bar. the staff is very friendly and again, the food is very good. this is one you should try.

not a fan!. nice atmosphere which is great since you typically wait an hour or more. i have eaten several things on the menu and nothing was worse than the bbq drum- i filled up on appetizers and slaw, wound up packing the drum to go after a few bites. the next day i heated it up to eat it and there were clear worms in it which i assume didn't grow overnight in my fridge!!! as for the menu in general, the food is good but a bit pricey for what you get.

delicious!. best fried food i have had in a long time. i ordered the 'whole shebang' which had fried shrimp, oysters, alligator, etc.
i would get it again.
as noted in other reviews it's packed and may take a while to get food, but well worth the wait in my book.

boring, boring, boring. i have eaten at parrain's several times and without fail, i am underwhelmed, bored and generally dismayed that i've spent money to have such an unforgettable meal and dining experience.
my last visit to parrain's was with someone who lives out of the state and who had heard good things about it. being an accommodating host, i drove them right over, despite my misgivings.
when our food arrived, everything was topped in the same pinkish-brown sauce with varying degrees of crawfish/shrimp/crab spattered on top.
i've never had anything terrible there, but i've never once had anything worth the $$ they charge for mediocre food, a strange, disjointed dining space, and spotty service.

fantastic! fried oysters an.... fantastic!
fried oysters and shrimp were great...alligator was scrumptious as an appetizer along with the boudin balls...don't loads up the delacroix fish...excellent!
the place does a great business and there's a reason why!

not a good choice for large parties. went there at 5:30 on saturday evening. had a party of 12; was told that half of the party must be present before we could be seated. the remainder of the party arrived by 5:45. then told wait was 30-45 minutes. we waited an addtional hour and a half while watching them seat several smaller parties that arrived after us. food and service was good after finally getting seated; was unhappy with the hostesses at the front. fyi also - they don't split checks for large parties.

pretty darn good, especially if you have food aller gies!. we were on our way to destin from texas and stopped for quick dinner, no wait, good food, fresh fish and a really great waiter...mohammad. he was really thorough with my food allergy list, which is extensive. he took it to the chef and i was happy and full when we left! great stop!

one of my favorite dishes. i ordered a grilled drum fish topped with crab. it was delicious. i couldn't eat the too spicey dirty rice that came with it, but, hey....this is louisiana. i am anxious to try something new next time.

if you're ever in the mood for oysters at a decent price, hit up either parrain's or the chimes on a tuesday night. (same owners) my overall total was 22.51 without gratuity.

blah. got the vermilion, which is the fish of the day topped .with shrimp and mushrooms and comes with broccoli, bread and a side salad.

the fish and broccoli were very bland. hardly any seasoning whatsoever, and the broccoli could have been cooked a bit more. the salad was mainly a plate of lettuce, with two little tomatoes and a few croutons.

the meal was overpriced at over $19.

their brunch is good, but for dinner, i think we're going to have to cross this off the list.

delicious seafood & good atmosphere. we usually go here for family events, because the food is very good (lots of varieties of fish and seafood dishes) and they accommodate large groups well. their portions are all well sized for needing to bring some home at the end. their boudin balls are delicious and the crab and corn bisque never fails. the ponchatrain is really good, but sometimes might be a bit heavy. others have had the delacroix and been pretty happy with it. their seafood platter is overflowing.
