delicious!. bestfriedfood i have had in a long time. i ordered the 'whole shebang' which hadfriedshrimp, oysters, alligator, etc.
i would get it again.
as noted in other reviews it's packed and may take a while to get food, but well worth the wait in my book.

this is the authentic cajun/creole style fixings... oysters bienville, boudin, friedalligator, boiled shrimp and crawfish... and those are just the appetizers. add soups like seafood gumbo, crab and corn bisque, turtle soup and you are in louisiana bayou country. entrées read like... andouille encrusted fresh fish, crawfish etouffe, catfish perdou, bbq drum fish, new orleans bbq shrimp, and these, together with an outstanding meat menu, put you in south louisiana, feasting on sumptuous, super seasoned, country style cuisine and "passing a good time". not only is the restaurant recommended, it is essential if you want to taste louisiana...laisser la bon temps roulette!!

we went on a saturday night. (7/11/15) the wait was about 50 mins which made us think this must be a really good restaurant. however, it was not. my friend had the whole shebangfriedseafood platter. upon getting his plate we thought wow look how much food. however, upon further inspection there wasn't much seafood at all! the seafood was stacked on top of a large pile of dirty rice and french fries to make it look like a lot of seafood! thefriedcatfish, stuff shrimp, oysters were average at best. i had the vermillion which is "grilled fish topped with shrimp, mushrooms, and green onions". the fish was very bland and surprisingly tough with no noticeable seasoning at all! the fish portion size was very small and there was a total of 3 shrimp on top. the shrimp were not very good either. overall, we were very disappointed in this restaurant and will not be going back.

parrain’s did not disappoint us. it was yummy! the seafood pasta was loaded with fresh crawfish, shrimp, and chunks of crab. it was also flavored extremely well with cajun seasonings. i am not kidding. it was the best cajun seafood pasta dish i have ever had, and i lived in the new orleans area for six years. i had to try the white chocolate bread pudding too. it is one of my favorite desserts, but i am usually disappointed after trying white chocolate bread pudding in restaurants. i have an outstanding louisiana recipe for it which can rarely be beat. here is a link to this fabulous dessert!! anyway, i really liked parrain’s white chocolate bread pudding. it had a touch of almond flavoring in it and sliced almonds all over the top of it. it was delicious!

i was able to taste the dishes my family enjoyed. thefriedshrimp was also one of the best fri

delicious lunch. i celebrated my birthday with lunch at parrain's. there are a slew of restaurants from new orleans to lafayette that "fry" seafood deliciously, including parrain's. however, when it comes to grilled or paneed fish entrees, not one restaurant can compare to the awesome entrees at parrain's. i like all the specialties, but my absolute favorite is the andouille encrusted fresh fish. it doesn't matter which fish is featured, the chef prepares it expertly. today, the fresh fish was redfish. it never tastes "fishy." it is always mild & paneed to crispy perfection. the sautéed crawfish and mushrooms in andouille cream sauce is rich, creamy and a delicious accompaniment to the fish. i departed full, satisfied, and happy knowing it won't be long until i return!!

best in br. my hubby and i eat at parrain's weekly. we have loved it since it opened. we recently lost 50 (h) and 30 (me) lbs for health reasons. our eating style changed from everythingfriedand smothered in fattening sauces to lean, broiled, baked or steamed. parrain's fits splendidly into our new healtly lifestyle. they are very accommodating to "go easy" on the butter/oil, sauces and dressings "on the side," and trading out starches in favor of steamed broccoli. servers are always attentive, and the food is fresh and prepared expertly

good food, rustic atmosphere.. i just left there. wednesday evening about 9 pm. still crowded, a bit loud with people having a good time. service was pleasant and attentive, but not overbearing. i had the half crawfish etouffee and halffriedcrawfish. it comes with a salad for $14.95. the salad was nothing special, mostly iceberg, with some croutons and a couple of grape tomatoes. the house vinaigrette was a touch sweet and a touch spicy. i thought the etouffee andfriedcrawfish were excellent. fresh, tender, plenty of spice and flavor. the etouffee was served over rice (of course), and the plate came with a tiny individual loaf of french bread that had been doused in butter, sprinkled with spice, and warmed in the oven.

all in all, a very good meal and not a bad value, if not inexpensive.
