one of the best in town. i really like to go here when in br. the tabasco pepper jelly salad dressing is fantastic. from there, the options just get better. i think the pork chop is one of my favorites. the grilled oyster appetizer is good as well. i usually sit in the bar, so i can't comment on the rest of the atmosphere, but i like it in the bar. the staff is very friendly and again, thefoodis very good. this is one you should try.

not a fan!. nice atmosphere which is great since you typically wait an hour or more. i have eaten several things on the menu and nothing was worse than the bbq drum- i filled up on appetizers and slaw, wound up packing the drum to go after a few bites. the next day i heated it up to eat it and there were clear worms in it which i assume didn't grow overnight in my fridge!!! as for the menu in general, thefoodis good but a bit pricey for what you get.

delicious!. best friedfoodi have had in a long time. i ordered the 'whole shebang' which had fried shrimp, oysters, alligator, etc.
i would get it again.
as noted in other reviews it's packed and may take a while to get food, but well worth the wait in my book.

boring, boring, boring. i have eaten at parrain's several times and without fail, i am underwhelmed, bored and generally dismayed that i've spent money to have such an unforgettable meal and dining experience.
my last visit to parrain's was with someone who lives out of the state and who had heard good things about it. being an accommodating host, i drove them right over, despite my misgivings.
when ourfoodarrived, everything was topped in the same pinkish-brown sauce with varying degrees of crawfish/shrimp/crab spattered on top.
i've never had anything terrible there, but i've never once had anything worth the $$ they charge for mediocre food, a strange, disjointed dining space, and spotty service.

not a good choice for large parties. went there at 5:30 on saturday evening. had a party of 12; was told that half of the party must be present before we could be seated. the remainder of the party arrived by 5:45. then told wait was 30-45 minutes. we waited an addtional hour and a half while watching them seat several smaller parties that arrived after us.foodand service was good after finally getting seated; was unhappy with the hostesses at the front. fyi also - they don't split checks for large parties.

delicious seafood & good atmosphere. we usually go here for family events, because thefoodis very good (lots of varieties of fish and seafood dishes) and they accommodate large groups well. their portions are all well sized for needing to bring some home at the end. their boudin balls are delicious and the crab and corn bisque never fails. the ponchatrain is really good, but sometimes might be a bit heavy. others have had the delacroix and been pretty happy with it. their seafood platter is overflowing.

i can't say enough positive things about this restaurant. wonderful atmosphere. consistentfoodquality, taste, preparation and presentation. parrain's consistently lives up to their rave reviews. friendly staff, wonderful taste. while i would consider some things overpriced, i'm willing to pay more for the quality of the food. shrimp alfredo lunch special on fridays...amazing. pontchartrain fish plate....double amazing...the delacroix...triple amazing. if you are in baton rouge, this is the place to eat for seafood.

subpar service, ok food. we have ordered take-out from parrain's on three different occasions. we had a negative experience with the service each time. on one occasion, we were told thefoodwould be ready in 45 minutes. we arrived on time to pick up, but ended up waiting another 45 minutes in the lobby for thefoodto come out. no apology was offered from the staff for the extended wait. to top it off, we didn't discover until after arriving at home that they had left out an entire entrée. on the other two occasions, we were either shortedfoodor were given the wrong item. on the latest occasion, we ended up returning to the restaurant to exchange thefoodfor the correct item, but again, were not offered an apology.

delicious lunch. i celebrated my birthday with lunch at parrain's. there are a slew of restaurants from new orleans to lafayette that "fry" seafood deliciously, including parrain's. however, when it comes to grilled or paneed fish entrees, not one restaurant can compare to the awesome entrees at parrain's. i like all the specialties, but my absolute favorite is the andouille encrusted fresh fish. it doesn't matter which fish is featured, the chef prepares it expertly. today, the fresh fish was redfish. it never tastes "fishy." it is always mild & paneed to crispy perfection. the sautéed crawfish and mushrooms in andouille cream sauce is rich, creamy and a delicious accompaniment to the fish. i departed full, satisfied, and happy knowing it won't be long until i return!!

best in br. my hubby and i eat at parrain's weekly. we have loved it since it opened. we recently lost 50 (h) and 30 (me) lbs for health reasons. our eating style changed from everything fried and smothered in fattening sauces to lean, broiled, baked or steamed. parrain's fits splendidly into our new healtly lifestyle. they are very accommodating to "go easy" on the butter/oil, sauces and dressings "on the side," and trading out starches in favor of steamed broccoli. servers are always attentive, and thefoodis fresh and prepared expertly

cold food, poor service. the only positive is the chargrilled oysters. the waiter's personality/tone was as cold as the mashed potatoes. it took 30+ minutes to get ourfoodand at least this long to get a refill of water. they took my plate back and microwaved the potatoes and the fish. while doing this they slid everything to one side and didn't care about presentation. i refused to eat reheated fish so the manager offered to not charge me for thefoodi didn't eat. he was not much nicer than the waiter. young management and staff apparently do not understand proper service and southern hospitality. btw, the whole shebang platter is a plate of grease.
