we waited almost 40 minutes to be seated, even though we had a reservation. when we brought it up to the hostess(who i think may have been the owner), that we were still not seated, she had a real attitude! she ended up squeezing us into atablemeant for two even though there were three of us. although the food was good, it really ruined our evening. she did come over to see if we were okay, but that didn't make up for the wait or her attitude.

kids loved it. we came with extended family on a rainy weeknight and were glad to have made reservations. the place was busy, but ourtablewas ready. the service was friendly and efficient. it is a very small place, but not overly noisy as it can be in that size dining room. there seemed to be a lot of regular customers around which gave the room an air of comfortable familiarity. fresh bread and butter was served. the butter had been mixed with garlic powder i think though and tasted a bit artificial, but the bread was very good. we all got salads, and i did not like the apple poppy dressing which was cloyingly sweet and thick. i think the ratio of acid was off. the balsamic i tasted on my daughter's salad was great though. four of the six of us loved dinner. the young kids had spaghetti and meatballs and an adult order of chicken french. they both ate everything on their plates. the cavittelli with sausage was enjoyed, as was the fettucine with marinara. the veggie pasta had good flavor, but the outer layers of red onion were used and were not appealing, and the carrots had not been peeled. the vegetables seemed to have a very rough chop and looked almost as if they were the leftovers from afternoon prep. overall, it was a decent dinner but i don't think i'd drive from the other side of town for a visit.

i went to otto tomottos with a work colleague while we were in the area for a business trip. this may be the best italian food i had ever had in my life. i have veal piccata and it was wonderful. my collegue and i are both southerners by birth, but were living in the dc metro area at the time. the chef/owners mother sat at outtablewith us and gushed over how happy she was we had stopped by and how proud of her son she was. she has every right to be proud. i have referred everyone i know that may end up in that area to stop in. of my travels bring me back in the area i will gladly wait for a table.

wonderful!!!. we have been to otto tomato's about 4 times....tonight (a saturday) was our first weekend visit. while we were unprepared for the amount of people waiting to be seated, we knew how good the food/service has been, so we decided to wait. we had reservations for 7:30 p.m. and were told they were running late. anticipating a long wait, we were pleasantly surprised that the wait was only 10 or 15 mins. we were seated at atablein a very close corner. my husband was very uncomfortable. he asked our waitress if there was a chance for us to move to another table, and his request was immediately granted, even though the restaurant was full. we were very impressed with the courtesy shown to us on such a busy night. as before, our dinners were prepared as requested, were absolutly wonderful, and our server was knowledgeable and friendly. good service, good food, wonderful wines = a great dining experience!! i am so glad we stopped in at otto tomato's on the spur of the moment a month ago because we found a wonderful place to dine!! thank you tim, his mom and dad and the wonderful staff!!

what a find!!. our family just ate at otto tomotto's for the first time & we already can't wait to go back. everything was fabulous. from our appetizer of fried calamari, which were clearly made fresh & not frozen to our entrees & desserts. the desserts were their own creation called twinky's (no, not your twinkies from childhood)--a fried italian bread with cinnamon & sugar (like a fried dough) filled with buttercreme. we tried the classic and also a chocolate one & both were so decadent & delicious. our kids are very picky eaters & they loved everything they ate. i was also very impressed with the service. when we went everytablewas filled yet our service was great. our waitress was very attentive and the owner's mother came over to ourtableseveral times to chat with us--even my kids mentioned how they liked talking to her & how nice everyone was. i love the family atmosphere & what a refreshing feeling to not eat at a chain restaurant. you can taste the passion that goes into the food. my son already stated he wants to go back as his special birthday dinner and i will be dreaming of those desserts tonight. what a great find!!!

terrible!. i live around the corner from otto tomotto's and had been looking forward to dinner at a locally owned italian hot spot. there is always a crowd, so naturally i expected great things.

when my husband and i arrived, there were two open tables and a couple in front of us. we were told we'd be seated momentarily. it took them 25 minutes to bring us to a table. i don't mind waiting, they should have just managed our expectations a little bit. our waiter failed to give us a wine list. no big deal, we grabbed one from the emptytablenext to us.

i ordered the soup of the day, since it was chilly outside and quite drafty in the restaurant. i kept my coat throughout dinner. when it arrived, i was told it that i was "lucky" since it was the last cup of the day. however, it was freezing cold... and wasn't supposed to be. combined with the high salt level, i debated sending it back to the kitchen.

then our wine arrived. it wasn't opened at the table, the cork wasn't provided, and the label was completely ripped off. there were also wine drops down the bottle, which made me wonder if they had poured several open bottles into this remaining bottle. regardless, a bottle in this condition should have never been served at a restaurant.

our entrees were excellent. the food was full of flavor and the portions were generous. the service during the meal was poor. no one refilled our water glasses or asked us how our meals were.

while we were eating, we overheard the owner telling retard jokes. this is completely unacceptable in any setting, especially in a restaurant where your guests could overhear your stupidity.

based upon this experience, you couldn't pay me to go back. further, i was so upset that i'm writing this review... which i never do. otto's has some serious service problems that ruined our evening.
