otto tomotto's

good casual dining. otto's is a good local dining establishment (victor) that delivers decent food at a decent price. atmosphere is a bit eclectic and a bit cramped. service was outstanding. the owners are very involved and care about the food and the diners experience. otto's was recommended to us and the individual may have oversold it, however, otto's was a positive experience. 3 out of 5 stars.

we were excited to eat here but were passed over twice when waiting to be seated and so had front row seats to witness "mama's" inability to write down reservations correctly or ensure who she is seating under the reservation is the right party. as for the unreserved, don't expect to be seated according to when you arrived. as for our entertainment while we waited, we watched a busboy roll silverware and fill glasses of water for tables, no worries he rinses out the glasses with floaties. i'd prefer to not see who touches my silverware or fills my waters as i know some things cannot be helped in the restaurant environment.

amazing lunch great price and great service! now i want to go back for dinner! lasagna was great and the dessert yummy!

best italian food in rochester. move over perlo's, agatinas, proiettis, and northside inn. real italians eat at otto tomotto's. incredible flavors, endless choices and prices as they should be for pasta. thought that the flavors were vaguely familiar. the owner then told us that he worked at soccer sam's in webster from 2000-2003. mille grazie for restoring our faith in finding authentic italian food locally!! we'll be back and i will be sure to tell everyone including all my friends at the d&c!!

i have been going to this place for over ten years (off and on). sometimes their food is very good but other times is very disappointing. for example, steak burned and dry when i requested medium rare or my wife had a eggplant parm but with almost no sauce. both of our meals were awful and dry. i'm so sick with their quality of food inconsistency (either good or awful) that we will stop giving them chances. is too bad really, we thought they were getting better. i took pictures of my super burned steak and my wife's terrible dry egg parm---not a pretty picture.

we waited almost 40 minutes to be seated, even though we had a reservation. when we brought it up to the hostess(who i think may have been the owner), that we were still not seated, she had a real attitude! she ended up squeezing us into a table meant for two even though there were three of us. although the food was good, it really ruined our evening. she did come over to see if we were okay, but that didn't make up for the wait or her attitude.

kids loved it. we came with extended family on a rainy weeknight and were glad to have made reservations. the place was busy, but our table was ready. the service was friendly and efficient. it is a very small place, but not overly noisy as it can be in that size dining room. there seemed to be a lot of regular customers around which gave the room an air of comfortable familiarity. fresh bread and butter was served. the butter had been mixed with garlic powder i think though and tasted a bit artificial, but the bread was very good. we all got salads, and i did not like the apple poppy dressing which was cloyingly sweet and thick. i think the ratio of acid was off. the balsamic i tasted on my daughter's salad was great though. four of the six of us loved dinner. the young kids had spaghetti and meatballs and an adult order of chicken french. they both ate everything on their plates. the cavittelli with sausage was enjoyed, as was the fettucine with marinara. the veggie pasta had good flavor, but the outer layers of red onion were used and were not appealing, and the carrots had not been peeled. the vegetables seemed to have a very rough chop and looked almost as if they were the leftovers from afternoon prep. overall, it was a decent dinner but i don't think i'd drive from the other side of town for a visit.

small restaurant with a plain atmosphere, but with really good italian food. definitely a standout in the area.

delicious italian. a friendly atmosphere - always greeted by mama. consistent quality food (we've been about a half dozen times now). chef circulates to check in with diners. water always kept full. the calamari is excellent. our go-to place for italian. great to support a local, family-owned restaurant rather than a chain - that's why we just went there again rather than stop somewhere at the mall!

stay for the soup, leave for the entree

the soup was outstanding - tomato basil and otto's onion. the entree was brutal. the eggplant parm tasted like it had been dropped into a deep fryer so it was more like fried fish. the red sauce was very sweet and there was not enough of it. the service was really excellent so that alone could make me try again...but probably not.

want to go again. only been there once so far -- on a sunday evening. food was delicious -- would like to go back.

my only nit-pick was that the "tablecloths" were white paper -- not very elegant. don't let that stop you from trying the place.

i went to otto tomottos with a work colleague while we were in the area for a business trip. this may be the best italian food i had ever had in my life. i have veal piccata and it was wonderful. my collegue and i are both southerners by birth, but were living in the dc metro area at the time. the chef/owners mother sat at out table with us and gushed over how happy she was we had stopped by and how proud of her son she was. she has every right to be proud. i have referred everyone i know that may end up in that area to stop in. of my travels bring me back in the area i will gladly wait for a table.

amazing!!!. it was our second time visiting otto tamatto's. we went aug 23rd for our 26th anniversary( which is the 22nd) we are always greeted with such a warm welcome. we even got to see mama, as she made her way around, asking how everything was. i felt like i was in a big family dining room. we started with soup for myself. and salad for my husband. my soup was a creamy tomato clam soup. i'm sorry can't remember the exact name. i just know, i couldn't eat it fast enough, it was so darn good. then i got the special with penne pasta, sausage, chicken and beacon, peas and greens with tomato sauce, and melted goat cheese. omg... it was so yummy and such a large portion. i could not finish all of it. my hubby had the lasagna and meatballs. and he too was a happy man. we ended up taking their amazing dessert home. a trio of cinnamon sugar deep fried bread, one filled with choc, one vanilla and the other strawberry. i could go on about about this place, lol.. but i'll just say this, if you like italian and good portions, otto tomattao's is the place. great food, great people. and thank you to our waitress erika, for being so nice. when we walked out, everyone wished us a good night. i told my husband when we leave the restaurant, i always feel like i just left my italian family home after a great dinner. that's how nice everyone is there. thanks otto tamato's we'll be back again. maybe next time we'll try lunch. :)

fantastic!!!!. we enjoyed our first visit to otto's about three months ago...can't wait to meet friends there tomorrow night. momma is a wonderful hostess and was very attentive to everyone in the dining room.

well worth the drive from webster!!!

great date night. charming and warm italian restaurant. mamma is the hostess and she makes you feel like you are eating in her kitchen. food is delicious: my favorites are the mussels and the fra diavlo. great place to have a conversation and good food with family and friends.
i'll be back again ( and again)
