best place for cheap eats!! the owners are great people who know how to take care of their customers. awesome food great service! highly recommend!!!

impressed. so impressed with the quality and utter yumminess of this st.vital gem. a hearty menu that offers plenty besides the must have fat boy. beat up diner vibe with much loved poutine. orig. george's is undoubtedly in the top 3 winnipeg burger joints.

getting disappointed. this use to be one of my fave places to eat. the burgers are way smaller than the bun now. my burger was half the size as the bun.. i cut most of the bun off casue there was no meat.they skimp out on the chili for the burger. there was about 1 table spoon of chili only... i ordered to go the time before and asked them to put the chili on the side so it wont get soggy by the time i eat it.. they refused.. they said they are not allowed because i may put some chili on my fries..!!! really!!! the service was horrible last visit. she was extremely rude.. won't go back again.. i felt like i got ripped off..

only trailer trash could possibly like this place. the food is highly over priced and unhealthy for you. the establishment seems good from the outside but inside feels cheap and shody. their meat is grade d and has shrunk over the years, yet they still use the same large bun to act as filler. on the upside there was a pretty waitress that was very nice, and when asking how our meals were, only cared about what i thought and ignored the rest. that made me feel special for a short moment and we had a good laugh over it. also, paying at front is stupid, took 15 min to get out of there. they don't have wireless transaction machines to do at the table. i'm not ever goin back their ever again unless they make radical changes. if you have a low self opinion of yourself and disregard for your health, by all means go eat hear.

portions. burger is definitely smaller than the bun. it used to be bigger. dairy delight on st.annes is much better.

just ok. like most burger places here, george's is very average. large portions, but nothing to write home about for taste.

and what is with this wpg thing for really crappy bland chili on burgers?

i will wait for five guys (the best burger ever!) to open up.

nice comments. just had dinner at georges. food was good as usual, but now that i have read the other reviews, and especially the quote in the free press article, probably won't be going back.

good food, had the hot roast beef sandwich, wasn't really hot but it was very tasty. also had the roast potatoes, absolutely delicious, and started with veggie soup, which also was delicious. my wife had the chicken greek salad, and was very happy with it. service was great, very nice relaxed atmosphere. love it!

large portions...great value!. i have frequented george's for years now. the food is continually hot and fresh. the portions are large enough that even my hubby is full after a meal. it is great value if you have many mouths to feed. the service is always fast and efficient. i do wish the dine in area was bigger but then it would probably still be full any way.

inkster. have been going to george's on st. mary's road for years. on may 23, 2013, we ordered two cheesburges and a greek salad to take out. the burger patties were very, very thin and the bun was much too big for the burger. although the burger was still tasty, it's size has shrunk considerably -- it's like eating a bun with onions and pickles. not the same. the greek salad was inedible. the iceburg lettuce was old, yellow and limp, saturated in an oily dressing with very little feta cheese. two little olives, one or two pieces of green pepper and the cucumbers tasted mouldy. we each had a couple bites of this salad and pushed it away. the lettuce used in this salad is something that i would have cut off and thrown away. prior to this experience, we had eaten there last fall and had a similar experience. we had shared an order of fries, which were mushy and almost had a rancid oily taste -- it was like the oil in the deep fryer hadn't been changed in months. what happened to this place ??? i won't go back unless i hear something has changed. former customer.
june, 2017 -- ok, gave it another try (although now the last - awful food) we tried cheesburgers again.  the patties were very thin and tasteless and much too small for the large, stale burger bun. the fries were rubbery outside and powdery inside.... inedible - we tossed them out.   i think something has changed since new owner took over and not for the good.

big portions. a great place to eat! it's really good food and really big portions. the salads are great! best salads in the city.

if i could give this location 0 stars, i would.
phoned in a pickup order, took them over 6 rings to answer (were not busy, they were standing around in the back) when they finally answered, i think the connection wasn't the strongest idk sounded like they threw the phone in the dishwasher. i couldn't hear what they were saying, told them that and instead they just started giving me attitude, didn't take my name or phone number.
once i went in for the food, they had it just sitting open on the counter. took a good 2 minutes before anyone greeted me (which the blonde lady was not welcoming at all) and i could see them in the back with no other orders.
food was so messy and the fries were old and tasteless, asked for ketchup for my large fries and they said it was in the bag but only gave like 4 packages, could've asked if i needed more (small detail but still adds up)
came in on monday, may 10 at 230pm ish.
if the owner reads this, you should review your host staff

these burger joints are getting fewer in numbers all the time.we hit this place up every so often and it never disappoints.our favorites are always the greek salad and their burgers.prices are in line with the market and the food is great. this isnt a fine dining type of restaurant but its comfortable and clean. if you are looking for a good burger and fries joint i would recommend these guys.

anything less than a 4 star review is wrong. simple as that. the burgers are great. the chili fries are great. i'm rating it 5 because it's worth it.

one of my favourite meals is a hamburger with fresh and hot french fries.  george's on st. mary's has never let me down.  the service is always efficient, courteous, and friendly.  parking is never a problem.  however, i do have one concern.  a litre of wine costs $25 while a half litre is $20.  in my opinion, that $20 price should be reduced to no more than $15.  as it stands, it encourages people (some of whom are drivers) to drink more than they should.  also, as it stands, a half litre and a 6 oz. glass cost more than a litre.  that is no logical.
