impressed. so impressed with the quality and utter yumminess of this st.vital gem. a hearty menu that offers plenty besides the must have fat boy. beat up diner vibe with much loved poutine. orig.george'sis undoubtedly in the top 3 winnipeg burger joints.

just ok. like most burger places here, george'sis very average. large portions, but nothing to write home about for taste.

and what is with this wpg thing for really crappy bland chili on burgers?

i will wait for five guys (the best burger ever!) to open up.

large portions...great value!. i have frequentedgeorge'sfor years now. the food is continually hot and fresh. the portions are large enough that even my hubby is full after a meal. it is great value if you have many mouths to feed. the service is always fast and efficient. i do wish the dine in area was bigger but then it would probably still be full any way.

inkster. have been going togeorge'son st. mary's road for years. on may 23, 2013, we ordered two cheesburges and a greek salad to take out. the burger patties were very, very thin and the bun was much too big for the burger. although the burger was still tasty, it's size has shrunk considerably -- it's like eating a bun with onions and pickles. not the same. the greek salad was inedible. the iceburg lettuce was old, yellow and limp, saturated in an oily dressing with very little feta cheese. two little olives, one or two pieces of green pepper and the cucumbers tasted mouldy. we each had a couple bites of this salad and pushed it away. the lettuce used in this salad is something that i would have cut off and thrown away. prior to this experience, we had eaten there last fall and had a similar experience. we had shared an order of fries, which were mushy and almost had a rancid oily taste -- it was like the oil in the deep fryer hadn't been changed in months. what happened to this place ??? i won't go back unless i hear something has changed. former customer.
june, 2017 -- ok, gave it another try (although now the last - awful food) we tried cheesburgers again.  the patties were very thin and tasteless and much too small for the large, stale burger bun. the fries were rubbery outside and powdery inside.... inedible - we tossed them out.   i think something has changed since new owner took over and not for the good.

one of my favourite meals is a hamburger with fresh and hot french fries. george'son st. mary's has never let me down.  the service is always efficient, courteous, and friendly.  parking is never a problem.  however, i do have one concern.  a litre of wine costs $25 while a half litre is $20.  in my opinion, that $20 price should be reduced to no more than $15.  as it stands, it encourages people (some of whom are drivers) to drink more than they should.  also, as it stands, a half litre and a 6 oz. glass cost more than a litre.  that is no logical.

after hearing great reviews about this place, i have decided to check it out for my very first time!george'sregular hamburgers are served with chilli, pickles, onions and your choice of condiment. i got a single patty burger at my visit and was quite disappointed with it. i found it to be quite dry. the patty was way too thin for the size of the bun that was served.

overall, this place is nothing to brag about but if you do decide to check it out, i would recommend either requesting for a double patties burger or asking for extra chilli on it. the place definitely serves value meals, i would totally come back because you're getting volume food for what you're paying for.

in terms of flavour, i prefer mrs. mikes over george's.

i had a fat boy burger, fries and a vanilla milkshake here. the burger was very good, although it was so big it fell apart and was nearly impossible to eat. the fries were very good, and the milkshake was outstanding.

in my opinion, vj's still has the best burgers and fries in town, but the milkshakes atgeorge'sare definitely better.

decent fat boy, bacon burger and basic cheese burger. nothing that really sets them apart from other burger restaurants. doesn't come close to the flavour or quality from vjs, mrs. mikes or dairy whip. good milkshakes, but pretty standard again. their fries are nothing to write home about. i opted for mcdonalds drive thru for fries after take out fromgeorge'sfor burgers. wouldn't spend the extra money on dried out gourmet fries. i thinkgeorge'sshould step up their burgers- add some seasoning that puts their burgers ahead of the rest. until then, it's quite meh.

my husband and i have been coming to originalgeorge'sfor years now. food is always great & portions are huge. our favorites are the gyro and baked lasagna. service is always fast and friendly but we've noticed that servers seem stressed out.. the boss woman seems rude and strict to the waitresses sometimes. also the waitresses do not get to keep their tips... so i believe the managers are keeping all the profit there. as a teenager i waited at perkins so i know how much tips help. that's not very fair, george's.

overrated. out of all the great burger places in winnipeg, george'sis the worst on the list. their chilli has zero flavour, their fries are very good, but fries do not carry their menu. the fat boy is the staple, and it's just not what it used to be. now it's a flavourless bland hunk of meat with flavourless chili and some condiments. the portions are still large, the price is typical for this type of burger joint, but the quality just isn't there.

st vitalgeorge'sis the best in the city. i've tried thegeorge'son henderson and on portage and both were dismal compared to the original on st. mary's. they have recently redecorated the interior so it's more modern. their greek salad is pretty good and nicely flavored, although sometimes it can have too much lettuce and very few olives, tomatoes or feta. i've tried their chicken souvlaki dinner, which is fairly priced for the portion of food. the best meal has to be the fat boy and fries. the fat boy burger is oversized and hits the right spot with it's savory flavor. the fries aren't greasy, lightly crisped and meaty on the inside. overall, a great place to forget your diet.
