original george's burgers & subs

inkster. have been going to george's on st. mary's road for years. on may 23, 2013, we ordered two cheesburges and a greek salad to take out. the burger patties were very, very thin and the bun was much too big for the burger. although the burger was still tasty, it's size has shrunk considerably -- it's like eating a bun with onions and pickles. not the same. the greek salad was inedible. the iceburg lettuce was old, yellow and limp, saturated in an oily dressing with very little feta cheese. two little olives, one or two pieces of green pepper and the cucumbers tasted mouldy. we each had a couple bites of this salad and pushed it away. the lettuce used in this salad is something that i would have cut off and thrown away. prior to this experience, we had eaten there last fall and had a similar experience. we had shared an order of fries, which were mushy and almost had a rancid oily taste -- it was like the oil in the deep fryer hadn't been changed in months. what happened to thisplace??? i won't go back unless i hear something has changed. former customer.
june, 2017 -- ok, gave it another try (although now the last - awful food) we tried cheesburgers again.  the patties were very thin and tasteless and much too small for the large, stale burger bun. the fries were rubbery outside and powdery inside.... inedible - we tossed them out.   i think something has changed since new owner took over and not for the good.

big portions. a greatplaceto eat! it's really good food and really big portions. the salads are great! best salads in the city.

these burger joints are getting fewer in numbers all the time.we hit thisplaceup every so often and it never disappoints.our favorites are always the greek salad and their burgers.prices are in line with the market and the food is great. this isnt a fine dining type of restaurant but its comfortable and clean. if you are looking for a good burger and fries joint i would recommend these guys.

george’s used to have the best fries. those home style ones that everyone loves. just ate it tonight. for the first time ever, different fries. generic fries that every other fast foodplaceorders, not homemade or homemade tasting at all. fake and tastes like a&w 😢

after hearing great reviews about this place, i have decided to check it out for my very first time! george's regular hamburgers are served with chilli, pickles, onions and your choice of condiment. i got a single patty burger at my visit and was quite disappointed with it. i found it to be quite dry. the patty was way too thin for the size of the bun that was served.

overall, thisplaceis nothing to brag about but if you do decide to check it out, i would recommend either requesting for a double patties burger or asking for extra chilli on it. theplacedefinitely serves value meals, i would totally come back because you're getting volume food for what you're paying for.

in terms of flavour, i prefer mrs. mikes over george's.

greatplacefor a quick burger and fries. i go often and i've never once had a bad experience. i'm not sure why people come on here to complain about it not being healthy. if you want to eat healthy dining out is not the way, especially at georges. it's better and way more fresh than many fast food chain restaurants.

we dined here yesterday for an early dinner.  theplacewas packed, that was a good sign.  i enjoyed my fat boy and fries – what a delicious burger!  the fries were fresh and crispy.  we also shared an order of onion rings, cooked to perfection!  my dining partner enjoyed a chicken souvalki wrap with fries.  they commented that the tzatziki sauce was blande.  our service was just right.  they took our orders quick, brought our food promptly, and refilled our drinks as needed.  overall, this was a greatplaceto grab a burger and fries, and the menu offers so much more so we may just have to go back! my only warning is they do not accept mastercard so be aware.

large menu selection and huge portion sizes. very delicious every time i've gone. they recently prettied up theplacewith new chairs, seat coverings and a nice paint job too.

always very good. no matter when we go to georges theplaceis always packed. they make everything the way i like it. i like my burger with extra fillings and lots of fried onions and there is never a problem. when i feel i need to take it a bit easy(my blood is coursing through my veins way too fast) i have their greek salad with chicken and pita bread. i have yet to finish an order. it is huge. they always have fresh tomatoes and lettuce and that makes the salad great.
my so always has the gyro and she enjoys georges. at our last outing to georges she splurged and had a chocolate milkshake and it was one of the best she's had, it was thick, rich and chocolatey. and she knows chocolate!!! my son had a chiliburger and it came smothered in chili sauce. i distracted him so i could try the sauce and it was as i figured, a hint of spice and very flavourful.
i am not a sub person but my son goes there often for their subs and he loves them..

st vital george's is the best in the city. i've tried the george's on henderson and on portage and both were dismal compared to the original on st. mary's. they have recently redecorated the interior so it's more modern. their greek salad is pretty good and nicely flavored, although sometimes it can have too much lettuce and very few olives, tomatoes or feta. i've tried their chicken souvlaki dinner, which is fairly priced for the portion of food. the best meal has to be the fat boy and fries. the fat boy burger is oversized and hits the right spot with it's savory flavor. the fries aren't greasy, lightly crisped and meaty on the inside. overall, a greatplaceto forget your diet.

used to be my "go to"placefor a fat boy, fries, and a side of chili. after the owner's homophobic remarks, i "go to" dairy delight.

george's is a goodplaceto eat.. original george's is a greatplaceto eat, i love love love their chicken fingers with honey dill sauce on the side with a caesar salad, though if you get the caesar salad if your by yourself i recommend you get a starter caesar salad as the regular salad size is rather huge enough for 2 or 3 people, unless you like a lot to eat then have at it. their burgers are huge as well and very yummy, you would definitely have to go to george's hungry or you'll end up bringing stuff home with you, which can still be a good thing. and staff is very good to, they are nice and up beat and know the menu well.

great. best georges in the city at this location. food is simple, portions are huge and price is great. definitely the best burgerplacein winnipeg!
