great milkshakes. i've been to this place alot and one thing you can always count on is a good shake, every know and then the fries are a little over done, or the burger is a little to greasy but i usually find my self still trying my best to clean the plate lol. yet there will always be room for the banana shake

get your grease fix here just skip the fries!. original george's is situated on the bishop grandin-st.mary's intersection with signage visible from bishop. upon entry the server didn't really seat us nor give us much of a greeting, but rather pointed us towards a table. the eatery is designed and operated a lot more like a diner than an actual restaurant. the well-priced menu consists of classic diner food such as burgers, hot dogs, subs, sandwiches but true to it being known as a greek restaurant, has mostly greek entrees.

the server was quite attentive of water levels and did check up on us a few times. it is noteworthy that the drinks (pop) are not from a fountain thus are not bottomless. they also do not take mastercard as payment.

during this outing we sampled the dimitri's burger platter ($9.99) which is composed of 3 patties, chili, onions, mustard, pickle, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and 2 slices of cheese. the platter came with a very generous helping of fresh fries. the burger did taste quite good but it was extremely greasy as the bottom bun was completely soaked through from the inside. when it comes to burgers i usually look to not only the flavoring but also the ratio of the ingredients. there was a very large helping of lettuce and mayo in my burger which considering how we had 3 patties wasn't too big of an issue but had we ordered a double burger or smaller it would have been problematic. a pet peeve of mine is having too large of a bun when compared to the contents and similarly had we not ordered a 3 patty burger it would have been far too 'bun-ny'. another thing that we noticed was that there was very little, none, or didn't notice the chili in the burger. despite the above, the burger did taste delicious!

the fries were greasy and soggy and personally i prefer my fries to be crispy so next time i likely wont be ordering the platter.

the environment is also quite relaxed and comfortable so its a good place to grab some food and chill out and tell jokes. if you are craving big greasy burgers for a low price, original george's is the place to get your fix!

all the george's are good. i think this george's is the first in the peg. the meals are very big. my wife and i can completely fill up on one greek salad and burger. the burger-chili adds a strange taste and i would personally rather leave it out, but that is my opinion. the fries are very good and with gravy, one of my person favs. not a fancy restaurant just good food at a very good price. we usually pay under 15 bucks for drinks and a full meal. can't beat that too often these days.

best food and great prices!. i have loved going here and the food is great! having read a few reviews of other people (especially those who say they didn't like and that those of us who do, haven't eaten other burgers), i find their burgers one of the the best ever! and i have tried different places. the only other place i knew that had an amazing burger was back in my home town when there used to be an open camp for truckers. amazing burger and home made soups. sadly they are gone now. as i was saying, the food at george's is great and sharing meals with my husband makes for an affordable date. never need our own fries and the greek food also delicious! we brought friends there, and also my folks from out of town. now they're hooked and want to go there every time they visit, and they're from alberta! and my dad is picky about his favorites lol.

anyways, try it, love it or hate it (your loss though lol), it's great food, pleasant atmosphere and affordable prices. one of the few great restaurants (and there isn't enough in this town) in winnipeg we enjoy! it's nice to go somewhere and actually leave full lol!

overrated. it's too much food, too crusty/dry a bun and the meat is not flavorful. better off going to dairy whip.

if you can live without fine dining waitressing/ like being left alone to enjoy your meal and conversation like myself, this is just the place for you. large portions at such affordable prices, i never spend more than $15 and sometimes i can't even finish. love this place! and if course, great tasting food!

velly nice. one of the best burgers i have ever had! i had the greek and my boyfriend had the bacon cheese. the fry portion was ridiculous but the fries were good, nonetheless.

best value for volume, not necessarily taste. the biggest thing that george's has going for it is the shear volume of food you get. certainly it's a great value if you're famished. however, if you're looking for the *best burger/hotdog/fries, i personally would take vj's over george's any day. i find their fries to be over cooked alot of the time and too hard for my liking, but a good way to overcome that is by ordering it as a poutine. their poutine is one of the best, and if you're ever in the vicinity it's a great place to get a hefty but quick bite.

good, but there's better. the burgers are good, to be sure, but winnipeg has far better burgers to offer.

i would take a burger from dairy whip, vj's, white star, or the nook over one of these any day.

the one and only. staff are amazing and the family that own and run the place are the best. the food is the best of its kind and the service is very fast even when theres a line-up out the door. portions can be a little too big but who doesnt like leftovers for a midnight snack. everyone should try george's !!!!!!!!!!!!

this is the best burger joint i've ever been to. the fatboy is addictive beyond belief. the rest of the menu is ok but not stellar. if you go here, go for a burger

take it down a peg.. i voted i didn't like this place but it was a lie. the reason i voted that way was because it's not as good as the people say it is. i've heard a few of people say that this place has the best burgers in the city. i think it's just the most recognizable and that they haven't ate at enough burger places. the burgers aren't bad but they are not great.
i still come here when my favourite burger joints are closed (it is opened very late). i don't ever recall having terrible service. i actually remember having pretty good service a few times when i've come with my family. i usually order take out.
