the food was amazing. the service was outstanding. the prices were on the high end but worth every dollar spent.

good but.... four of us tried this out on a bit of a wing and a prayer for our wedding anniversaries.
ambience was pleasant but it was a bit noisy.
food was interesting and quite good and we were all happy enough but hardly blown away.
$250 for 4 of us a bit steep. not sure i liked it that much....

very disappointed. on the plus side, great staff - professional and friendly.
ordered a burger that was still raw inside when it was served - asked for it to be cooked through - took another 20 mins and came back out as shoe leather - not edible. this is a supposedly higher end restaurant and certainly not cheap.

i've been to open range twice now and had take-out (yes they were very accommodating!) once. their smoked meats starter is truly amazing and the bison ribs and beef steak were really well done. if i had any complaint it would be that the mushrooms accompanying the beef were too sweet having been cooked with a reduction of some sort. a real surprise was the venison, of which i am generally not a fan, open range's wad tender and nit too haney with and excellent grainy mustard based rub.

loved it!. popped over to open range on a whim, and boy did we ever luck out! it was friday night, and they still found room for us with out a reservation. service was impeccable, and the food was exquisite. love the fact that they use locally sourced products and things that are fresh and in season. we shared the bison enchilada and the chili rubbed baby back rib starters, and while we liked the ribs, we loved the enchilada. i had the special of the night (duck confit, mussels and pasta) while my boyfriend had the beef rib chop and the gouda scalloped potatoes. not enough adjectives to describe how much we enjoyed this outing! it's a definite recommendation from us!

quaint surroundings with spacious seatting. bread to die for and a special platter of mixed meats which were tender scrumptious strips. the meals our group ordered were all exquisite with tastes second to none. try the steelhead trout with saskatoon ginger sauce! we will be back!!!!!

yummmy. i recently had the pleasure of eating at this fine restaurant. my husband and daughter brought me there for my birthday dinner. knowing that i am a bit of a foody and love fine dining, they had picked this place based on reviews and the fact that it was less the five minutes from our home. i have nothing bad to say, the food was excellent the service was perfect and friendly. the décor was wonderful, stylish cowboy. i had the duck and have been dreaming about it ever since. we spent most of the meal rolling are eyes back and moaning in pleasure as we ate the wonderful food put in front of us. even the sangria ( wild berry with tarragon…yum) i ordered to drink was a 100 % better than any i have ever had in any restaurant anywhere. ( i order it always, everywhere i go) i feel the food and service is worth at least $10 more a plate than they are charging!

the buffalo short ribs had an amazing ancho chili bbq sauce and were falling of the bone tender. the duck breast was a nice contrast to the other gamier meats, covered in a cider glaze and accompanied with braised apples which made the dish nice and light.

second visit - continued satisfaction!. we decided to revisit open range for dinner and were again delighted with our meals and the impeccable service. for a starter, the three of us shared the 'three bean and sorrel dip with grilled chili flatbread' which was delightful. one of us had the beef tenderloin which was succulent and the accompanying vegetables were cooked to perfection. another guest had the 'blackened new york strip with chimichurri sauce' and he exclaimed it was fabulous. for the third meal, the appetizer 'bison enchilada with smoked tomato white salsa and salsa cruda' and the 'baby romaine..salad' was ordered together as the main course. as one who is not a regular meat eater, she found it to be totally enjoyable. the enchilada was very sizable and the bison meat was flavourable and lean. the open range is definitely a destination for excellent meals in casual, relaxed surroundings.

enjoyed the unique flavor. we found out about this place online and didn't know anyone who had eaten here. the atmosphere was very warm and inviting i really enjoyed that. the food was very tasty from the bread and herb infused butter to start to the amazing desert at the end. we had the chili rubbed ribs to start which had a hint of flavor but not too much. i had the steak filled with red pepper, jack cheese and horseradish it was cooked perfectly and very filling. my husband had the wild mushroom with truffle beef which was also cooked perfectly and very good. for desert we had the cheesecake and the chocolate cake. the chocolate cake was to die for best we both have ever had very light with raspberries and blueberry sauce. overall excellent experience, very busy and would enjoy going back for an occassion. price was perfect for what you get i'd rather spend my money here then the keg.

not returning tough steak and uninspired food. front area was nice but we where ( 2 of us) escorted to a back area for dinner. must be an overflow room because the decor was horrible. original office ceiling tile, walls, etc. very misleading from the website that i had been to. appies where ok. but nothing special. the jerk duck did not taste anything like jerk. i know what jerk chicken tastes like as my wife and i lived in the caribbean. the calamari was average and the sauce that came with it was pretty good.

my wife had the sirloin and asked for it to be cooked medium. i had the new york strip (medium rare) my wife's came as a medium rare and my steak was very overcooked bordering on medium well

the service was very good, friendly and professional

the bill with a bottle of wine was $187.00 with a tip. we will not be returning

i have been to open range five times now and always leave happy. great food, and excellent service. better than what you can find downtown.

hard to beat!. went with another couple on a tuesday night. the service was perfect, never too much and always there to top up waters and beverages. appetizers: recommend the game plate: fresh, tasty, and new items all the time! had the prime rib bone in - to die for! the side dish potato's and mac and cheese were so good could almost have a meal alone with them. the bison enchilada is sooooo good.
finish your meal with their lattes! yum! can't wait to go back soon.

refined southwestern dining experience. from the outside, open range does not look very interesting, but when you walk through the doors you are transported into a world of western chic. the restaurant features a cozy fireplace, thick rustic wood dining tables, large comfortable chairs, contemporary western art and the right amount of antique decor to add to the elegant ambiance. from the dining room, you can see the wine cellar, which boasts some interesting finds. the food is contemporary southwestern featuring a variety of game including venison, elk, buffalo, duck, and lamb. my husband and father had the elk dianne, which they described as amazing! i opted for the oat crusted atlantic char with gooseberry sauce, outstanding! my mom reported the steelhead trout was delectable. the service was outstanding. i highly recommend open range to anyone who loves meat, fish and great service.
