good food but boring atmosphere. had dinner there on a quite tuesday. nice interior, friendly and professional service. reallygoodbeer, wine, cocktail menu - lots of unique choices and priced fairly.
for dinner we had the corn and jalapeno fritters and the prime rib feature. the fritters were ok - the flavour wasgoodbut i don't think the tomatillo dipping sauce complimented the fritters.
our prime rib was serviced with duck fat poutine, beets and a yorkshire pudding. the yorkshire pudding was stale and the poutine disappointing. they used au jus instead of gravy in the pountine so it was similar to french fry soup.
the prime rib was amazing - i would order it again and just opt for a different side.
nice decor,goodfood, great staff but the atmosphere was pretty boring.

we came here for a friend birthday as he wanted to try out open range. they had a select menu which ranged from steak, chicken to fish. i ordered the elk steak medium rare (tender, lean and gamey) which also came with a side of vegetables (squash and wild rice). overall food here is delicious withgoodquality. i'd recommend trying this place out.

straightforwardly in my opinion the best restaurant in calgary. the food is amazing, the combinations interesting and thoughtful. the staff is wonderful and there seems to be little turnover- agoodsign. these folks have gone above and beyond to accommodate us - once regarding a friend, dying of cancer, not able to eat much, but so wanted to have a last meal there. they provided a series of small portions to allow her a wide range of all her favourites. we are steady customers and will continue to be.

agoodmeal. the waiting staff and the decor are very pleasant. excellent pecan pie andgoodselection of wines. went on a sunday and it was not busy.

we had the porterhouse to share - 24 oz steak, scalloped potatoes and asparagus - it was probably the best steak dinner i have had in calgary. i loved it. the service was great too. will definitely be back. we tried the sourdough garlic cheese bread and tho it wasgoodit was quite heavy and i could have done without that before the amazing main course.

i really want to try this restaurant for a long time and finally made the trip.  my friend and i order the crispy calamari to start.  the calamari tasted okay but i found it too much breading.  as for the main, i ordered the bone-in alberta lamb shank, it was amazing.  i enjoyed it very much.  my friend ordered the 24oz bone-in porterhouse, the quality wasgoodand tasted great as well.  this restaurant will be my go-to steakhouse from now! :d

i've been wanting to try this place for a long time because i moved into the area a year ago and finally made it one night. the ambiance is very soft and elegant. but these guys don't mess around, they're serious about their meats. the waiters were very courteous and the owner even came by our table to chat. we ordered the porter project cut which comes with a side of scalloped potatoes and asparagus. both of the sides were seriously delicious and large portions. the steak was verygoodhowever we found it to be very fatty and difficult to cut and eat. tjat made it very frustrating and i don't think i would order this cut again. however, all their other steaks looks amazing too when we saw them coming by us. can't wait to go back to try something else there!

nice cozy cowboy-friendly setting with a variety of meat selection. we ordered the porter house, tenderloin and prime ribs, asparagus and yam fries. all generous portions withgoodside selections. our server was informative and quick too.
1 star deducted as the reservation system didn't seem to work properly. we used bookenda app to make the reservation for 5 adults and 1 kid but with bookenda we couldn't add the kid so i called the restaurant and let them know. but when we get there the server said we made the reservation for 5 adults only. didn't want to debate too long as they could accommodate the kid, but upsetting.

a friend of mine mentioned this place to me as a must try. though that was a few years ago, i've only got to try it out last night.
so my girlfriend and i were celebrating our anniversary together and we were craving something meaty/gamey. so we thought to try this place out because i heard reallygoodthings about it from my friend, and thought it'd be nice to celebrate there.

the atmosphere was absolutely lovely, with a casual western look with a formal feel that kinda made us feel underdressed. service was attentive and caring, as they often check on us for recommendations.

we started off with a cheese platter, which was delicious, as well as the jalapeño cheddar mac and cheese. it was reallygoodwith the right flavors and texture, though i'm not big on onions so i wasn't too pleased seeing them at the bottom... but that's me being picky.

i won't go into too much detail of our mains since there's a lot of components in them. i had the duck, which is the first time i've actually had a big piece of duck (i normally get peking duck from chinese restaurants) and it's not what i imagined to taste. that being said, it was super delicious. my girlfriend had pork chops and hash, which also comes with pork belly. she also loved her dish.

the only complaints we have is that the beets that come with my dish, which also makes the bulk of sauce is overly sweet. my girlfriend wasn't big on the pork belly, but she just doesn't like fatty foods (again, us being picky). we also didn't get to try their desserts because we were full, so no comment on that.

overall, food was excellent and the service definitely made the night for us. will be coming back... once i have more money.

very cosy place withgoodservice.
we ordered the porter house to share which is supposed to be the signature dish , i found that the meat was too chewy for the price we paid , not impressed at all.
the red velvet cake was to hard & dry . has been in the fridge for sometime.
i don't believe this restaurant rated as top 10 restaurant in canada.

i would go here with agoodappetite, as the menu options are extensive and the food is delicious. the ambience is pleasant and it's a great place to spend an evening with friends enjoying a great meal withgoodservice. ask for a table with wing chairs - they're comfy, cosy and private.

if you are a steak lover like myself, open range is awesome… its all about the meat. the room is unique and not for everyone but the food is always fantastic. great rustic spot that featuregoodquality alberta beef.

we went to open range for our anniversary. acknowledged our special request for certain
table. had delicious mussels to start, after finishing complementary glass of champagne. the meals were both so so good. steaks were cooked perfectly and done in really nice sauces. the wine was reallygoodand reasonably priced. the server was very knowledgable about the wines/food and did an excellent job. they finished our night off by bringing our pecan pie with sparklers, which was very thoughtful. cool/cozy atmosphere for fine dining or just a few cocktails. we will definitely be going back - a new favorite steakhouse of ours.

really dissapointing. i got the bison burger, really dry, which was a huge dissapointment. i thought it was a safe bet. the 'salad' was greens with some sauce. bit of a joke. it seems the ingredients weregoodbut the execution was bad. the dessert was ok, goat cheese cheesecake. but for 75$ i could have gone somewhere else and enjoyed it way more.

could have made it way better at home for a fraction of the price! so dissapointed. my partner and i had reservations here last week to celebrate something. we arrived about 8 pm it was fairly busy,,nice decor and atmosphere,the service was top notch very classy and professional service,our waitress recommended the perfect wine for us and was very attentive. so we anticipated amazing food because of the service and atmosphere i guess., totally disappointing, on many levels,one being we ordered a cheese bread for an appetizer and it came out lukewarm and microwaved,and i know it was microwaved for sure because with in 2 minutes it turned rock hard! and we had to stop eating it. the fois gras was disgusting we have had it many times at different restaurant and in various cities,this one was really bad and it tasted like bad chicken liver not goose liver, and the little bread crackers that came with it were gross too.the calamari was average at best wasnt very warm. then our main courses were bad i had chicken and my partner had the feature seafood dish both were barely warm,which is an issue all its own! i personally like to see a bit of steam rising from the food on my plate and it also tastes better at a warmer temperature.i could get into great detail but i don't feel like writing a long review,i will just say that everything from the food quality to the ingredients to to the flavours and food temps was wrong,and the onlygoodpart was the wine and the service,unfortunately we will never return,because we likegoodfood.
