absolutely lovely lunch with my family, a real flashback to many lunches at this beautiful restuarant during my years at wits. their fries are absolutely yummy!

the service was great as always but a tiny bit slow. i love that the tables are spaced out and not on top of each other.

we particularly went for the delicious cake selection, but after the generous lunch portions, there just wasn't enough space for cake. so we ended up ordering cake to take away. the salted caramel cheesecake and the white and milk chocolate mousse cakes were really good!

every witsie knows that olives and plates is the place to go if you want good food. really good food.

situated at the bottom of the law lawns in a garden setting one tends to forget you're in the city and we can spend entire days here eating cake (their pecannut pie with vanilla bean ice-cream is my personal favourite and a must try!) from their ever changing selection.

i highly recommend their chicken or beef burger (generous portions and unexpected explosions of flavour) or their salmon salad (crisp,fresh and oh so tasty) and a mate swears by their panco-crusted chicken.

you should also go for their coffee milkshake or milktart latte if you like to taste something different.

but honestly you cannot go wrong with their menu. their food is topnotch.

however as of late i must say the service has slowed quite a bit - not granny in a shopping aisle slow but still not as fast as they used to be.

still an excellent restaurant and we will keep on coming back!

one of the best restaurant experiences i've had in joburg! olives and plates has a diverse menu of meat, chicken, fish and vegetarian dishes, which are always served in good time and with great flavor. their selection of wine and other drinks is commendable.

the highlight of this place has to be the dessert! the multiple cake and tart options are what make it truly special. i can personally recommend the red velvet chocolate mousse cake, the flourless chocolate cake and the lemon meringue.

this is a delightful venue for a simple lunch, tea and cake with friends, or a big celebration. the prices are also exceptionally reasonable for such a wonderful restaurant! be sure to book in advance to get the seating you want, as there are numerous tables outside (which is a gorgeous place to sit in spring and summer) and plenty indoors as well.

possibly one of the best restaurants i have been to. amazing fine dining food served in the most beautiful and unique way! extremely reasonably priced! my favorite meal is the panko parmesan crusted chicken with a fresh orange juice, the chickpea burgers and salads are also great! the ambience is wonderful, the decor indoors is beautiful, and the outside seating area is very cape dutch style with beautiful plants and scenery, double thumbs up from me!

nothing to complain about except they were always fully booked on my birthday. this year i finally got a booking after trying for the past 3 years (keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way). there's always a wedding but who can blame them. food is amazing - looks just like the picture and tastes even better! ambiance is friendly - waiters are well trained and efficient. the cakes are divine and they serve the best coffee on campus.

a beautiful venue under the old oak trees. an extensive menu filled with items for every taste. friendly staff with efficient service - look forward to going back in summer and trying their food!

situated in one of wits' cape dutch style buildings amongst a shady courtyard at the bottom end of campus sits this absolute gem of a restaurant and a saviour for anyone looking for a semi-decent cup of coffee - while not fantastic it's definitely the best coffee on campus. the restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and one is welcomed by their gorgeous cake display upon entering the room. the menu offers a wide selection and there should be something for everyone. our favourites include the nutella croissant, the beef burger or just a classic toasted sandwich with a side of fried. without a doubt the best spot for a bite on campus.

really like the decor and food, been here several times, tried almost everything vegetarian on the menu, all really good. love their carrot cake

my absolute all time favourite place to catch up with a friend over delicious food or a cappu and cake. the staff are always smiling, the cakes are always fresh and the taste of the food hits all the right buds ;)

love this place hidden at the bottom of wits. the outdoor area is quite and a great place for a lunch,brunch or morning coffee snd cake. service is efficient food light and fresh. great salads and if you are more hungry a well served steak.
now only have i come here for breakfast (october) and have had a great meal, so this will be added to my breakfast list as well.

i enjoyed the health chicken salad which was fresh and cooked perfectly. the portion sizes are more than satisfying and meals are very well presented.the staff were friendly and attentive, they even put a rush on our order as we were in a hurry. the outdoor dining area is secluded and calm with beautiful greenery. i've been here on a few occasions and it's still very good!

an amazing restaurant, hidden within the depths of wits. a great place for students and non-students alike. a nice vibe with a variety of cakes and food.

what a lovely escape from books, students and lecture halls. hidden at the ends of wits parking is this gem of a restaurant with amazing food! the food did take rather long but well worth the wait. i love that they have variety in from starters type to mains and dessert. alcohol can only be served with a main meal - good one for the students lol! lovely serene place indeed! oh did i mention they have nuttelatte's and baklava cheesecakes 😋

i've never had less than a stellar experience at this charming restaurant. the management is excellent and the service quick and efficient.
i've been here too many times to count and tried almost everything on the menu and never been disappointed. the food is very affordable considering the generous portion sizes!
the balsamic steak and caramalised onion trammezini is to die for, as is the chicken prego roll. the greek dishes are all fantastic- and the meze platter deserves a special mention!
even the toasted sandwiches here are somehow extra delicious!
and don't get me started on the cake table- the best pecan pie and chocolate cake i've ever had!
in summer i definitely recommend sitting outside but inside is equally charming with warm wooden floors and simple, elegant decor.
