this has got to be one of the best breakfasts / brunch / lunch spots in joburg!

the restaurant is situated on witscampusbut feels like you are sitting at a beautiful restaurant in cape town. the food is absolutely delicious, presented beautifully and well priced !!! we came here for breakfast today and ordered the soufflé omelette and paw paw nest. both were delicious and the presentation was lovely!

what an amazing find. this is one of those best kept secrets. delicious well presented food, beautiful decor, a choice of garden or indoor with spacious comfortable seating and excellent service. a wide variety of greek menu with a twist which is very unusual as i love greek food but its generally similar wherever you go. call in advance to book and as you go through the boom at wits entrance turn right immediately or youll be driving around the wholecampusperimeter to get there. the setting is huge trees in a historical cape dutch house garden.

never knew there would be such a gem that exists on witscampus! this place is very fancy, the service is great and so is the food ! a slice of cake is a must have after your meal ! there’s a huge variety of cakes, which makes it very difficult to choose as they all look so delicious!

as a current wits student olives is definitely a gem in the high pressure academic environment . 😂it’s also located close to an exam venue for a little comfort after a difficult paper .
it doesn’t even feel like you’re oncampus, the place is so gorgeous and peaceful . whether you’re sitting outside or inside it’s a beautiful environment. outside there’s a small pond with these really pretty fish ,breathtaking scenery and peaceful breeze . inside it’s dim ,beautifully set tables ,gorgeous decor and soft music in the background .

the service is pretty good,a bit disappointing if you’re sitting in a corner table sometimes . i’m a person of habit and i almost always order the same thing every time i go there . my favorite dish is the steak ,egg and fries. the meal is so filling and the presentation of the dish is always on point . on this particular occasion i ordered steelworks ,my friend a cheeseburger with a frappy . i tasted the frappy and it’s definitely for coffee lovers ,it was way too strong for my liking .
dessert is the highlight of every olives visit . their cake options are out of this world ,it’s cake heaven and making a choice is always difficult. i’d suggest you have the cake as a sit down because the slice comes with strawberry slices and fresh cream . these aren’t there if it’s a takeaway .

i love love this place and would recommend it on any given day . great ,relaxing spot .

olives and plates at the wits club has definitely become a part of thecampuslandscape and has certainly changed it for the better. the venue is elegant and serene despite the fact that its situated in the city.

having had lunch here many times and attended weddings and conferences, it's a restaurant with which i've become very familiar. i love the attention to detail with regards to both the decor and food. everything is beautifully presented.

the food, although not innovative, is classic and sublime. i have never had anything less than a perfect meal here. firm favourites include the panko crusted chicken breasts, the biftiki salad and their pesto pasta. the portions are extremely generous but do try and save space for dessert. perusing their table of sweet treats is always the highlight of my visit - they are constantly introducting new cakes so even if you've been before, there's always something new and interesting to try. the service is relaxed and less attentive than is ideal so a quick meal here isn't really possible.

come here if you've got some time on your hands to enjoy the full experience.

olives and plates is a place every witsie just knows.. this particular branch on westcampusis set in one of the most beautiful places, you walk inside and just forget that you're actually on campus. last year we had our end of year departmental function here. the food was really good and the staff were friendly. the only downfall was the limited availability of drinks. we wanted cocktails and alas all they had available were ciders.

i am a student at the university of the witwatersrand. the food at olives and plates on westcampusis absolutely to die for. the service and quality of food is consistently good. the only reason 0.5 of a star is deducted is because at times the food can take a while to come from the kitchen, however this is the reason the food is so fresh and flavoursome.

attached is a picture of their salmon scrambled eggs on rye toast with cottage cheese. absolutely scrumptious.

i would recommend olives and plates to everyone, not just my friends and fellow peers. it is beautifully set out and just an overall great experience; also very reasonably priced!

fancy oncampus?
i visit this place about three times a year ever since they opened up. we had our lunch here after our board exam and also as an end of year celebration with the class, and it was a great send off. beautiful setting, and good service. their salads are fresh and delicious, and i love their wraps. but i must say, the desserts look better than they taste. the red velvet cheesecake is a must. best dessert there.

what can one say about olives and plates that hasn't been said before.

this iconic spot located on the westcampusof wits has an incredible reputation for serving mouthwatering, tastebud-busting, home-styled food, and anybody who has dined here will agree that they do just that.

i attended a 21st birthday that was held here and will go right ahead and say that every dish that was served was phenomenal.

various starters went around at the beginning of the evening, and i was fortunate enough to sample their halloumi and mint spring rolls; which were absolutely amazing! i also got to indulge in a flavoursome little chicken dish as well as an interesting caprese salad kebab which was very tasty.

after being seated we were brought a selection of freshly baked breads which not only smelt incredible but also tasted so.

for mains we were served a divine chicken dish consisting of two breasts, some sliced baked potatoes and grilled veggies. the chicken was cooked perfectly, the veggies were sweet and crunchy and the potatoes were deliciously seasoned and accompanied by a creamy light sauce. i thoroughly enjoyed my meal and was glad to see that they were very generous when it came to the amount of food served per guest.

all the staff who served us were polite and helpful and the the service was really good. all the food was brought out at the same time and as far as i know not a single complaint was made.

the real star of the show was undoubtably the dessert selection which, if i say so myself, was to die for. from light fluffy chocolate mouse to red velvet cake pops, olives and plates pulled out all the stops and served up some truly amazing tasty treats. my personal favorite was the vanilla and red velvet cake pops which were moist and spongey and covered in a creamy white chocolate coating.

all in all myself and my girlfriend had an unforgettable experience here and will be back without a doubt. this delightful restaurant has got to be one of the best spots to eat out in joburg and is definitely worth checking out.

situated in one of wits' cape dutch style buildings amongst a shady courtyard at the bottom end ofcampussits this absolute gem of a restaurant and a saviour for anyone looking for a semi-decent cup of coffee - while not fantastic it's definitely the best coffee on campus. the restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and one is welcomed by their gorgeous cake display upon entering the room. the menu offers a wide selection and there should be something for everyone. our favourites include the nutella croissant, the beef burger or just a classic toasted sandwich with a side of fried. without a doubt the best spot for a bite on campus.

hidden little gem this! the wits club or otherwise known as olives and plates has got to be one of jozi's greatest low key restaurants. food here is exceptional and service is always slick. it's casual yet classy as the same time. i have eaten here a few times but in this review we were a table on 14 and all food was delivered together, on time, hot and presented well; what more could you ask for? it's also seriously affordable.

***a must try is their homemade baklava - probably the best i've ever had!
***also if you're a group order a few meze platters.
