had the very real pleasure of attending a kitchen tea here sometime ago and have been for lunch too - both brilliant ! yesterday afternoon my sister (who is visiting from the uk) and i felt like a afternoon treat - not unusual as both of us would choose cake over salad anyday .. and if you gave seen these cakes you would know why this was our obvious choice 😳 ..beautifully presented, mouthwateringly gigantic, titilating treats waiting to be chosen - too many .. but in the end we had the lemon meringue and the salted caramel cheese cake and we were not disappointed - heavenly. served beautifully with iced coffee - great service ! sitting on a balmy friday, outside under the umbrellas catching up - fabulous afternoon !

i attended a kitchen tea here today and oh how beautiful and lovely it was! a stunning setting and such tasty treats to eat! probably one of the best pecan nut pies i've ever had!

we went here as a group of friends for lunch on the weekend, based on someone's recommendation, we would never have known it was there otherwise. located inside of the wits campus, this place is a real hidden gem. the surroundings are beautiful, the menu is vast and will cater to everyone's needs. the portions are generous and every single one of our dishes was tasty and satisfying. i would come back here every weekend if it were up to me ;) definitely give this one a try, you will not be disappointed!!

one of my favorites . we go there often . had my birthday there today. everything is always great from the breakfasts to the salads , bifteki is my best. their cakes are amazing and great coffee and service. you can never go wrong here

oh wow this place is incredible. the setting and the surroundings make you feel so relaxed. menu is huge.. had the best breakfast.
went for my cousins surprise birthday brunch . service was excellent and they had the freshest melt in your mouth muffins iv ever eaten.. doughnuts and red velvet cupcakes.
i ordered the breakfast wrap it was huge. wish i took photos but was totally distracted by the presentation and everyone else's food looked incredible.
i love this place can't believe iv never been before will be back next weekend 💜

i have never had a meal that i haven't loved at olives and plates. my friend and i usually have the ravioli which is stuffed with halloumi and mint and comes in a fresh lemon sauce. it is divine and so refreshing. this time, we tried something different. i had a chicken burger which you can choose to be crumbed or not, and you can choose either potato wedges, shoestring fries or a salad as the side. i had the simple fillet with the shoestring fries and it was delicious. is was tasty, filling and the presentation was amazing. my friend had a chicken panini which i landed up stealing a few bites of.. another winner!

we had cake for dessert which is a must when you go. their cake selection is vast and they are beautifully presented! the red velvet and the oreo cheesecake are my personal favourites!

today we sat down at olives and plates on the wits campus. i ordered a frappe which was delicious! perfect combination of milk and coffee complimented with ice cubes. not too bitter and not too sweet- it was perfect!

for lunch i ordered the halloumi and roast vegetable wrap accompanied with a side salad. the presentation of the food was outstanding and i was pleased with the portion size. the wrap was fulling and delicious. all other orders for the table were eaten with no complaints, and the chicken shnitzel panini looked exceptionally mouthwatering!

for dessert we ordered the oreo cheesecake as well as the carrot cake to share. the cheesecake was too yummy and i would definitely recommend that you order it, however i felt that the carrot cake slice was tasty yet incredibly dry.

all in all my friends and i had a wonderful experience at olives and plates and we shall definitely be dining there again soon!

i visited olives and plates one saturday for a birthday lunch. i'll start with the negatives just to get them out the way. even though we had booked, we were seated in a bit of an odd spot, right near a bar where the waiters were collecting their drinks orders from, so there was a constant steam of waiters walking past our table, and no one else seated anywhere near us. we also spent the afternoon swatting away a few flies that wouldn't leave us alone. no one seemed to concerned about sorting the fly problem out, although maybe we should have spoken up a little more as we did see another table receive some sort of burning "fly repellant". now onto the positives... the food was amazing and so beautifully presented. you can tell that a lot of thought has gone into, not only the dishes, but their accompaniments and presentation! i really battled to make a choice because everything sounded so good! by the time i finished my lunch i was so full, but somehow managed to fit in a piece of their salted caramel cheesecake. divine! and that's coming from someone who doesn't have a massive sweet tooth or like cheese cake! their cake display is so beautiful that it just lures you in. i cannot wait to give their breakfasts a try too.

this restaurant is truly unbelievable in all respects. the atmosphere, decor, food and drinks are to die for. in addition, the staff are generally very friendly and helpful.

i have been here on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed with the meals. olives and plates have mastered everything from pasta to sandwiches to salads. the presentation of the food definitely makes all the food look delicious.

we had an awesome experience here. we arrived just after 11am and the waiter let us order off the breakfast menu still. the food was very well presented and was delicious. i had the traditional breakfast and my friend had the canadian french toast. we were very impressed with both dishes! looking forward to coming back soon again!

i visit this place about three times a year ever since they opened up. we had our lunch here after our board exam and also as an end of year celebration with the class, and it was a great send off. beautiful setting, and good service. their salads are fresh and delicious, and i love their wraps. but i must say, the desserts look better than they taste. the red velvet cheesecake is a must. best dessert there.

my favourite little secret! this restaurant was the highlight of my day when i was at wits last year. the food is simply divine, along with friendly service and an exquisite cake selection. (must have cake!) every item i have ever ordered on the menu was perfectly cooked with love and attention! if you are around the area, then definitely stop for a fantastic lunch!

what can one say about olives and plates that hasn't been said before.

this iconic spot located on the west campus of wits has an incredible reputation for serving mouthwatering, tastebud-busting, home-styled food, and anybody who has dined here will agree that they do just that.

i attended a 21st birthday that was held here and will go right ahead and say that every dish that was served was phenomenal.

various starters went around at the beginning of the evening, and i was fortunate enough to sample their halloumi and mint spring rolls; which were absolutely amazing! i also got to indulge in a flavoursome little chicken dish as well as an interesting caprese salad kebab which was very tasty.

after being seated we were brought a selection of freshly baked breads which not only smelt incredible but also tasted so.

for mains we were served a divine chicken dish consisting of two breasts, some sliced baked potatoes and grilled veggies. the chicken was cooked perfectly, the veggies were sweet and crunchy and the potatoes were deliciously seasoned and accompanied by a creamy light sauce. i thoroughly enjoyed my meal and was glad to see that they were very generous when it came to the amount of food served per guest.

all the staff who served us were polite and helpful and the the service was really good. all the food was brought out at the same time and as far as i know not a single complaint was made.

the real star of the show was undoubtably the dessert selection which, if i say so myself, was to die for. from light fluffy chocolate mouse to red velvet cake pops, olives and plates pulled out all the stops and served up some truly amazing tasty treats. my personal favorite was the vanilla and red velvet cake pops which were moist and spongey and covered in a creamy white chocolate coating.

all in all myself and my girlfriend had an unforgettable experience here and will be back without a doubt. this delightful restaurant has got to be one of the best spots to eat out in joburg and is definitely worth checking out.

i finally managed to have lunch at o & p today with an ex colleague from years gone by. what a change from the days when we both taught at wits. the venue is exquisite, parking was not a problem (to my surprise) and the food delicious and excellent value for money. the waiters are friendly and eager but do need to keep an eye on their tables; we invariably had to attract their attention for service and again for the bill. the food took a long time to arrive but sitting chatting under the oaks was so pleasant that we did not really mind. not the place to go if you have time constraints but well worth a second visit.

this restaurant is absolutely phenomenal.
starting with the tastiest prawn spring roll starters, to the softest freshly baked breads and one of the best chicken dishes i have ever had, words can not describe the combination of heavenly flavors of their chicken served with creamy potato.

we were here for a 21st dinner party, and upon arrival we were treated to some great starters. the main course was incredible, and to top it all off the decadent desserts were out of this world..

soft red velvet and vanilla sponge cake dipped in the finest white chocolate, light pastries filled with lindt chocolate balls, and so many more.

the staff were so quick on their feet catering to everyone's needs. the atmosphere is very romantic, it's such a beautiful restaurant.

i can't wait to come back and try some of their other tasty dishes and desserts!
