olives and plates - club & conference

i have a sweet tooth andolivesand plates is my go to when it comes to cake. they have a wonderful array of cakes. my all time favorite is the baklava cheesecake, however on this occasion i shared a slice of pecan pie and a hazelnut chocolate cake which was absolutely divine. the service was amazing and the staff were friendly. perfect place for brunch. i’m counting down the days till my next visit :)

i’ve always lovedolivesand plates, even the small tuck-shop is amazing! their food is always fresh, and their presentation?! nothing short of wow!!!!

as a current wits studentolivesis definitely a gem in the high pressure academic environment . 😂it’s also located close to an exam venue for a little comfort after a difficult paper .
it doesn’t even feel like you’re on campus ,the place is so gorgeous and peaceful . whether you’re sitting outside or inside it’s a beautiful environment. outside there’s a small pond with these really pretty fish ,breathtaking scenery and peaceful breeze . inside it’s dim ,beautifully set tables ,gorgeous decor and soft music in the background .

the service is pretty good,a bit disappointing if you’re sitting in a corner table sometimes . i’m a person of habit and i almost always order the same thing every time i go there . my favorite dish is the steak ,egg and fries. the meal is so filling and the presentation of the dish is always on point . on this particular occasion i ordered steelworks ,my friend a cheeseburger with a frappy . i tasted the frappy and it’s definitely for coffee lovers ,it was way too strong for my liking .
dessert is the highlight of everyolivesvisit . their cake options are out of this world ,it’s cake heaven and making a choice is always difficult. i’d suggest you have the cake as a sit down because the slice comes with strawberry slices and fresh cream . these aren’t there if it’s a takeaway .

i love love this place and would recommend it on any given day . great ,relaxing spot .

being a current wits student i have gone toolivesand plates on many occasions, and i must say they are consistently good. i have never gone and had a bad meal or bad service. on my most recent visit, it was packed as per usual on a friday afternoon.

we intended on eating light so my boyfriend and i had the pesto chicken wrap and the salted caramel cheesecake to share- which our waiter recommended and i'm sure glad he did. both were really good and we were definitely satisfied.

if i'd have to recommend one thing that's an absolute must it would be a slice of cake, asolivesand plates has such a large range of freshly baked cakes and sweet treats, that i'm still making my way through trying them all.

one of the advantages of lecturing at wits, the ease of being able to eat atolivesand plates. just has a late lunch of simple but delicious fish and chips. the presentation for such a simple meal was amazing. and for a ferrero rocher cake and cappuccino, before i go off to lecture

fantastic lunch atolivesand plates yesterday. the weather held out so that we could sit under the lovely oak trees. our waitress was wonderful and made our experience a pleasant one. now onto the food - wow is all i can say. it was magnificent and the presentation was absolutely beautiful. thank you, this is definitely one of our favourite places and we will definitely be back.

wow wow wowolivesand plates is such an amazing place, want to go back as much as i can. decor is old school chic and the outside is old dutch style. service is great, been many times and cannot fault the excellent service.

food is absolute perfection, good flavours and attention to detail. so much effort goes into the perfect marriage of flavours. had many dishes and each dish just keeps getting better and better, can't believe that every time i try something new my taste buds explode with excitement.

whenever you're in braamfontein and looking for a delicious and reasonably priced cake, pop intoolives& plates and you won't be disappointed.

my favourite is the red velvet & chocolate mousse cake with ice cream on the side.

i had only heard good things about this place, so i decided to stop by for brunch one day.

i ordered the grilled chicken burger which was absolutely delicious. the presentation was beautiful too.

the atmosphere here is lovely. it's very quaint and unassuming, but also buzzing with students going about their days.

i highly recommend visitingolivesand plates. it's definitely one of the best restaurants in braamfontein.

finally visitedolivesand plates for the first time. the decor was a little disjointed where we were sitting. service was also really slow.

the food is priced very reasonably. we tried the meze platter for two which had haloumi, hummus, olives, guacamole, tzatziki, artichokes and pita bread. it was delicious and enough food for two people.

they also have plenty of desserts on offer that i really want to try next time. overall i enjoyed the food and will be going back to try more of the menu out.

attended a wedding reception atolives& plates on saturday and we were blown away by the service and quality of the food. granted we didn't order from the regular menu but this was better than most restaurants around johannesburg. upon arrival there was a selection of cheese and artisan breads served with artichokes, strawberries and preserved fruits. temptation was strong to have more but there were other courses to follow. we were then treated to a selection of pasta, mini sliders, skewers and cold meats. my favorite was the butternut lasagne and salmon fish cakes. for dessert the selection included lindt chocolate torte, cheesecake, date malva pudding and custard, baklava and orange sponge. wedding cake was a carrot cake. gluhwein & hot chocolate with marshmallows were served in addition to beer and wine. i know we didn't pay for the meal and it was a set menu but we were blown away by the quality of the food. superior in every respect.

olives and plates - wits university - is a luxurious ,posh and classy place to grab breakfast , lunch or tea and cake .olivesand plates is an excellent place to have a lunch/breakfast meeting , birthday celebration or high tea.

the service is up to scratch , the waiters and waitresses are very attentive.
the deco atolivesand plates give the place a touch of elegance.

we had the club meze platter - the different dips compliment each other together with the different types of greek breads and pastries.

the selection of desserts were impressive , i thoroughly enjoyed the oreo cheesecake , the chocolate cake , the lindt fondant , the fudge and the red velvet mouse cake .

i love coming to olives! i had lunch there on friday with some work colleagues and, as usual, it was great. i had the sun dried tomato, basil pesto pasta which i've had numerous times before and it was as divine as always.
i think the best thing though aboutolivesis what our waiter aptly named the table of temptation: the dessert table! their pecan pie is the reason i won't eat pecan pie anywhere else, and the salted caramel cheesecake is something else!
