olives and plates - club & conference

had an amazing lunch here today. the manager was a brilliant host and the service was impeccable. the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. the setting is beautiful and tranquil outside under the trees.

attended a wedding reception at olives & plates on saturday and we were blown away by the service and quality of the food. granted we didn't order from the regular menu but this was better than most restaurants around johannesburg. upon arrival there was a selection of cheese and artisan breads served with artichokes, strawberries and preserved fruits. temptation was strong to have more but there were other courses to follow. we were then treated to a selection of pasta, mini sliders, skewers and cold meats. my favorite was the butternut lasagne and salmon fish cakes. for dessert the selection included lindt chocolate torte, cheesecake, date malva pudding and custard, baklava and orange sponge. wedding cake was a carrot cake. gluhwein & hot chocolate with marshmallows were served in addition to beer and wine. i know we didn't pay for the meal and it was a set menu but we were blown away by the quality of the food. superior in every respect.

this hidden gem is heaven for a foodie!!!!! i never would have thought i would find an amazing place such as this on a varsity campus. the place looks beautiful on the inside, love the atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. i was here for a work lunch with the team so we were a bit pressed for time. due to some big tables and one late colleague our order took longer than expected but that took nothing away from the standard of the food. i had the fillet with baby potatoes. asked for sour cream but the chef offered marscapone instead which was even more luxurious and yummmm!!! meat was done to perfection (love a pink steak in middle). of course their unmistakable presentation had us all salivating before we dug in. my new favorite place. they have won me over.

olives and plates - wits university - is a luxurious ,posh and classy place to grab breakfast , lunch or tea and cake . olives and plates is an excellent place to have a lunch/breakfast meeting , birthday celebration or high tea.

the service is up to scratch , the waiters and waitresses are very attentive.
the deco at olives and plates give the place a touch of elegance.

we had the club meze platter - the different dips compliment each other together with the different types of greek breads and pastries.

the selection of desserts were impressive , i thoroughly enjoyed the oreo cheesecake , the chocolate cake , the lindt fondant , the fudge and the red velvet mouse cake .

i love coming to olives! i had lunch there on friday with some work colleagues and, as usual, it was great. i had the sun dried tomato, basil pesto pasta which i've had numerous times before and it was as divine as always.
i think the best thing though about olives is what our waiter aptly named the table of temptation: the dessert table! their pecan pie is the reason i won't eat pecan pie anywhere else, and the salted caramel cheesecake is something else!

great restaurant delicious. such a hidden gem. delicious greek food and normal food too. delicious for lunch and the cakes and desserts are just as great. great service and well managed, beautiful venue and enjoyed every minute.

loved everything about this place. service was excellent, breakfast to die for and that in a old, rustic kind of setting. we had to have cake after seeing it on the table. we shared a chocolate red velvet cake. it was the best cake i've ever had. it melts in your mouth and all of the flavors is incredible.

olives and plates is a place every witsie just knows.. this particular branch on west campus is set in one of the most beautiful places, you walk inside and just forget that you're actually on campus. last year we had our end of year departmental function here. the food was really good and the staff were friendly. the only downfall was the limited availability of drinks. we wanted cocktails and alas all they had available were ciders.

another wonderful lunch at this hidden away gem- clearly the secret is out as it was full ! this place has the most beautifully presented plates of delicious food, each one a work of art! flavors are delicate but unique and then there's the cakes, and more cakes all exquisitely arranged on the table to be salivated over as you walk into the restaurant ! this place deserves a 20/10 rating!

having seen so many photo's of decadent plates of food, we finally headed out this morning for brunch, to olive's & plates.
what a beautifull historical venue. for a few times i had to bring my thoughts back to reality, that no arno, you are not having breakfast in constantia in cape town!
the smoked salmon scrambled eggs was refreshing and very tasty. the salmon, melt in your mouth fresh. my partner had the eggs florentine which was a really tastefull dish with the basil pesto bringing all the flavours together.
i tried not to finish my food, for the reason of the nearby cake table, which called my name obviously!
who can resist a fresh slice of delectable cake combinations and flavours. red velvet cake on a cheesecake layer!
lemon chiffon cake covered in cream cheese & condensed milk! red velvet & chocolate mousse layered cake and so the list goes on.
a wonderfull must try venue in the heart of johannesburg.

we absolutely loved visiting this restaurant. there are many 4.0 and up restaurants on zomato that just don't make the cut, this is not one of them. we ordered the mint and halloumi ravioli, and the meze platter for two. both were exceptionally tasty. the price to quality and quantity ratio is incredible. i would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

i can see where this place gets its rating! first of all it was a bit difficult to find as we drove up and down the campus. i do not know if they were a busy in comparison to other days, but the service was a bit slow although professional and friendly. our menu's also did not have the same pricing which i do hope they fix. the food is excellent and they have created an extraordinary presentation. we were not finished with our meze platter starter when the mains arrived, this was inconvenient as we then tried to rush finishing it before our mains cooled down. their meze platter is well worth an order as a starter to share between two. the food portions are generous as well as a visual-taste experience combo.

blown away by this place- tucked away under the oaks on wits campus. food and attention to detail impeccable. we were full after sharing a delicious tabouli salad and steaks for mains. but that didn't stop us to try the recommendation of toffee cake! we left happy but bursting at the seams!

what an amazing place right in the middle of the wits campus! the decor is lovely and the restaurant as a very hip vibe. unfortunately, it was raining when i went so couldn't seat outside and there was a really long wait list for a table. we had to wait 30 mins. the wait staff are really friendly and service is great! we had the club house sandwich stack and the mozzarella sandwich. great food! i have to go back to try the rest of the menu!

i am a student at the university of the witwatersrand. the food at olives and plates on west campus is absolutely to die for. the service and quality of food is consistently good. the only reason 0.5 of a star is deducted is because at times the food can take a while to come from the kitchen, however this is the reason the food is so fresh and flavoursome.

attached is a picture of their salmon scrambled eggs on rye toast with cottage cheese. absolutely scrumptious.

i would recommend olives and plates to everyone, not just my friends and fellow peers. it is beautifully set out and just an overall great experience; also very reasonably priced!
